Stakeholder collaboration mechanism in elderly community retrofit projects : case study in china
The aged population all over the world is predicted to increase over the next couple of years. Especially in China, the ageing population is expanding significantly every year. A ‘Home-care model’ is becoming the first choice for many elders in China due to the traditional style of community and economic considerations. However, existing communities generally lack support-ing facilities for their elders. This can result in hidden safety risks in these communities. Conse-quently, retrofit projects among these communities of elders have attracted attention and generated studies in both academia and industry. Such elderly community retrofit projects (ECRPs) involve multiple stakeholders, and therefore, the establishment of an effective synergy mechanism for all stakeholders would provide significant value for the successful implementation of ECRPs. Until now, no such mechanism has been developed and published. This research aims to develop a stake-holder collaboration mechanism (SCM) for ECRPs in China. As the method of data collection, interviews with relevant ECRP stakeholders were conducted. Stakeholders involved with ECRPs were classified into three main categories—namely, core stakeholders (ageing families, government or-ganisations, and ECRP companies), dormant stakeholders (other residents, other investors community committees), and marginal stakeholders (financial institutions, property service enterprises, and public welfare organisations). Finally, the SCM was developed utilising a power–interest ma-trix. Actions for stakeholders were recommended in order to promote ECRP in China

Tricritical behavior of the frustrated XY antiferromagnet
Extensive histogram Monte-Carlo simulations of the XY antiferromagnet on a
stacked triangular lattice reveal exponent estimates which strongly favor a
scenario of mean-field tricritical behavior for the spin-order transition. The
corresponding chiral-order transition occurs at the same temperature but
appears to be decoupled from the spin-order. These results are relevant to a
wide class of frustrated systems with planar-type order and serve to resolve a

A low-voltage retarding-field Mott polarimeter for photocathode characterization
Nuclear physics experiments at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator
Facility's CEBAF rely on high polarization electron beams. We describe a
recently commissioned system for prequalifying and studying photocathodes for
CEBAF with a load-locked, low-voltage polarized electron source coupled to a
compact retarding-field Mott polarimeter. The polarimeter uses simplified
electrode structures and operates from 5 to 30 kV. The effective Sherman
function for this device has been calibrated by comparison with the CEBAF 5 MeV
Mott polarimeter. For elastic scattering from a thick gold target at 20 keV,
the effective Sherman function is 0.201(5). Its maximum efficiency at 20 keV,
defined as the detected count rate divided by the incident particle current, is
5.4(2) x 10-4, yielding a figure-of-merit, or analyzing power squared times
efficiency, of 1.0(1) x 10-5. The operating parameters of this new polarimeter
design are compared to previously published data for other compact Mott
polarimeters of the retarding-field type.Comment: 9 figure
Adiabatic quantum pump in the presence of external ac voltages
We investigate a quantum pump which in addition to its dynamic pump
parameters is subject to oscillating external potentials applied to the
contacts of the sample. Of interest is the rectification of the ac currents
flowing through the mesoscopic scatterer and their interplay with the quantum
pump effect. We calculate the adiabatic dc current arising under the
simultaneous action of both the quantum pump effect and classical
rectification. In addition to two known terms we find a third novel
contribution which arises from the interference of the ac currents generated by
the external potentials and the ac currents generated by the pump. The
interference contribution renormalizes both the quantum pump effect and the ac
rectification effect. Analysis of this interference effect requires a
calculation of the Floquet scattering matrix beyond the adiabatic approximation
based on the frozen scattering matrix alone. The results permit us to find the
instantaneous current. In addition to the current generated by the oscillating
potentials, and the ac current due to the variation of the charge of the frozen
scatterer, there is a third contribution which represents the ac currents
generated by an oscillating scatterer. We argue that the resulting pump effect
can be viewed as a quantum rectification of the instantaneous ac currents
generated by the oscillating scatterer. These instantaneous currents are an
intrinsic property of a nonstationary scattering process.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur
Theoretical study of the (3x2) reconstruction of beta-SiC(001)
By means of ab initio molecular dynamics and band structure calculations, as
well as using calculated STM images, we have singled out one structural model
for the (3x2) reconstruction of the Si-terminated (001) surface of cubic SiC,
amongst several proposed in the literature. This is an alternate dimer-row
model, with an excess Si coverage of 1/3, yielding STM images in good accord
with recent measurements [F.Semond et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 2013 (1996)].Comment: To be published in PRB Rapid. Com
Self-organized model of cascade spreading
We study simultaneous price drops of real stocks and show that for high drop
thresholds they follow a power-law distribution. To reproduce these collective
downturns, we propose a minimal self-organized model of cascade spreading based
on a probabilistic response of the system elements to stress conditions. This
model is solvable using the theory of branching processes and the mean-field
approximation. For a wide range of parameters, the system is in a critical
state and displays a power-law cascade-size distribution similar to the
empirically observed one. We further generalize the model to reproduce
volatility clustering and other observed properties of real stocks.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure
Defining project scenarios for the agile requirements engineering product-line development questionnaire
Current agile methods are focused on practices of small, rapid developing and iteration, more people oriented, less documentation projects, and the use of the methods in large, product line projects are somehow difficult. UTD and GESSI have started a project to develop an expert system that can assist a requirements enginer in selecting a requirements engineering process that is well suited for their project, in particular with respect to the use of agile and product line engineering methods. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first expert system to do this. In this report, we present the project scenario requirements, development methodology, and the initial set of 162 project scenarios defined. UTD and GESSI have started a project to develop an expert system that can assist a requirements enginer in selecting a requirements engineering process that is well suited for their project, in particular with respect to the use of agile and product line engineering methods.
