    Blocking Ion Migration Stabilizes the High Thermoelectric Performance in Cu2Se Composites

    The applications of mixed ionic–electronic conductors are limited due to phase instability under a high direct current and large temperature difference. Here, it is shown that Cu2Se is stabilized through regulating the behaviors of Cu+ ions and electrons in a Schottky heterojunction between the Cu2Se host matrix and in‐situ‐formed BiCuSeO nanoparticles. The accumulation of Cu+ ions via an ionic capacitive effect at the Schottky junction under the direct current modifies the space‐charge distribution in the electric double layer, which blocks the long‐range migration of Cu+ and produces a drastic reduction of Cu+ ion migration by nearly two orders of magnitude. Moreover, this heterojunction impedes electrons transferring from BiCuSeO to Cu2Se, obstructing the reduction reaction of Cu+ into Cu metal at the interface and hence stabilizes the ÎČ‐Cu2Se phase. Furthermore, incorporation of BiCuSeO in Cu2Se optimizes the carrier concentration and intensifies phonon scattering, contributing to the peak figure of merit ZT value of ≈2.7 at 973 K and high average ZT value of ≈1.5 between 400 and 973 K for the Cu2Se/BiCuSeO composites. This discovery provides a new avenue for stabilizing mixed ionic–electronic conduction thermoelectrics, and gives fresh insights into controlling ion migration in these ionic‐transport‐dominated materials.The space‐charge region between Cu2Se host matrix and in‐situ‐formed BiCuSeO under a direct current causes drastic suppression of the Cu+ ion migration in such composites and obstructs the reduction reaction of Cu+ into Cu metal.     Hyaluronic Acid-Functionalized Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Loading Simvastatin for Targeted Therapy of Atherosclerosis

    Atherosclerosis (AS) constitutes a major threat to human health, yet most current therapeutics are hindered in achieving desirable clinical outcomes by low bioavailability or serious side effects. Herein, we constructed an enzyme-responsive and macrophage-targeting drug delivery system (SIM@HA-MSN) which can potentially modulate the microenvironment of the atherosclerotic plaques characterized by excessive inflammation and overexpression of hyaluronidase (HAase) for precise AS treatment. More specifically, mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) were loaded with a lipid-lowering drug simvastatin (SIM) and further gated with hyaluronic acid (HA) coating, which endowed the nanosystem with HAase responsiveness and targetability to inflammatory macrophages. Our results showed that a high loading efficiency (>20%) and excellent enzyme-responsive release of SIM were simultaneously achieved for the first time by silica-based nanocarriers through formulation optimizations. Moreover, in vitro experiments confirmed that SIM@HA-MSN possessed robust targeting, anti-inflammatory, and anti-foaming effects, along with low cytotoxicity and excellent hemocompatibility. In addition, preliminary animal experiments demonstrated the as-established nanosystem had a long plasma-retention time and good biocompatibility in vivo. Taken together, SIM@HA-MSN with HA playing triple roles including gatekeeping, lesion-targeting, and long-circulating holds great potential for the management of atherosclerosis

    Numerical Simulation on Thermoelectric Cooling of Core Power Devices in Air Conditioning

    Air conditioning has become a necessity in people’s daily life. The performance of the compressor determines the energy efficiency ratio of this electrical equipment, but the heat generated during the operation of its internal core power components will greatly limit its performance release, so it is urgent to carry out research on the heat dissipation of power devices. In this work, we explore the application of thermoelectric coolers (TECs) in the field of power device heat dissipation through finite element simulation. First, we geometrically modeled the structure and typical operating conditions of core power devices in air conditioners. We compared the temperature fields in air-cooling and TEC active cooling modes for high-power-consumption power devices in a 319 K operating environment. The simulation results show that in the single air-cooling mode, the maximum temperature of the 173.8 W power device reached 394.4 K, and the average temperature reached 373.9 K, which exceeds its rated operating temperature of 368.1 K. However, the maximum and average temperature of the power device dropped to 331.8 K and 326.5 K, respectively, at an operating current of 7.5 A after adding TECs, which indicates that TEC active cooling has a significant effect on the temperature control of the power device. Furthermore, we studied the effect of the TEC working current on the temperature control effect of power devices to better understand the reliability of the TECs. The results show that TECs have a minimum working current of 5 A, which means it has no significant cooling effect when the working current is less than 5 A, and when increasing the current to 10 A, the average temperature of the power device can be reduced to 292.9 K. This study provides a meaningful exploration of the application of TECs in chip temperature control and heat dissipation, providing a new solution for chip thermal management and accurate temperature control

    Highly active nonprecious metal hydrogen evolution electrocatalyst: ultrafine molybdenum carbide nanoparticles embedded into a 3D nitrogen-implanted carbon matrix

    The generation of clean and sustainable hydrogen fuel through water splitting demands efficient and robust earth-abundant catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). A new hybrid, which was fabricated by incorporating molybdenum carbide (MoxC) nanoparticles into a nitrogen-implanted three-dimensional carbon matrix (MoCN-3D), was developed as a highly active and durable nonprecious metal electrocatalyst for HER. The porous architecture of MoCN-3D can provide continuous mass transportation with a minimal diffusion resistance and thus produce effective electrocatalytic kinetics in both acidic and alkaline media. Experimental observations in combination with density functional theory calculations reveal that the effective coupling between molybdenum carbide nanoparticles and the carbon matrix, as well as N hybrid coordination, can modify the electronic Fermi level of the final hybrid, which synergistically reduces the proton adsorption and the reduction barrier during electrocatalytic HER

The CEPC primarily serves as a Higgs factory. In its baseline design with synchrotron radiation (SR) power of 30 MW per beam, it can achieve a luminosity of 5e34 /cm^2/s^1, resulting in an integrated luminosity of 13 /ab for two interaction points over a decade, producing 2.6 million Higgs bosons. Increasing the SR power to 50 MW per beam expands the CEPC's capability to generate 4.3 million Higgs bosons, facilitating precise measurements of Higgs coupling at sub-percent levels, exceeding the precision expected from the HL-LHC by an order of magnitude. This Technical Design Report (TDR) follows the Preliminary Conceptual Design Report (Pre-CDR, 2015) and the Conceptual Design Report (CDR, 2018), comprehensively detailing the machine's layout and performance, physical design and analysis, technical systems design, R&D and prototyping efforts, and associated civil engineering aspects. Additionally, it includes a cost estimate and a preliminary construction timeline, establishing a framework for forthcoming engineering design phase and site selection procedures.
