Digital Libraries in Open Education: the Italy case,
Open Education strategies, and specifically MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) and OER (Open
Educational Resources), play an important role in supporting policies for educational innovation, lifelong
learning, and, more generally, the enlargement of educational opportunities for all. While there is an
increasing interest in Open Education, there is little awareness about the role of Digital Library as learning
incubators for learning enhancement. The paper presents briefly the state of art of Digital libraries in the
light of the most recent initiatives of Open Education in Italy, towards an integrated model of Digital
libraries as âknowledge and learning open hubsâ
The article reports, through a brief historical- normative excursus, the steps that led to the D.L. 59/2017. This is the new model of initial training and recruitment of teachers. The new law stresses the need to make teachers competent in the various disciplines in which the pedagogy nowadays is divided. Responding to this need, some specific training programmes have been designed to make the teacher an authentic education professional. This paper, which aims to focus on the initial training of secondary school teachers in Italy, presents the legislative process that led to the creation first of Scuola di Specializzazione per lâInsegnamento Secondario (SSIS), then Tirocinio Formativo Attivo (TFA), to get to the current system of initial teacher education Formazione Iniziale e Tirocinio (FIT).Lâarticolo ripercorre, attraverso un breve excursus storico-normativo, le tappe che hannocondotto al D.L. 59/2017.
Since CLIL has been introduced in regular school curricula, it has certainly represented a great challenge for teachers. ButâŠwhat is exactly CLIL? CLIL is a didactic methodology, compulsory for secondary schools, that includes the study of at least a subject in a foreign language as part of the national curriculum. In Italy it is conceptualized as language training policy within the wider discourse of European plurilingualism. The article is aimed at describing the most important steps of this innovation, with its implications for teachers, students and policymakers. After a brief overview of the European and Italian laws and the main theoretical frameworks, we will try to describe the current status of this methodology, its characteristics, its objectives and the roles of the actors involved.
The structural basis of lipid scrambling and inactivation in the endoplasmic reticulum scramblase TMEM16K
Membranes in cells have defined distributions of lipids in each leaflet, controlled by lipid scramblases and flip/floppases. However, for some intracellular membranes such as the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) the scramblases have not been identified. Members of the TMEM16 family have either lipid scramblase or chloride channel activity. Although TMEM16K is widely distributed and associated with the neurological disorder autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia type 10 (SCAR10), its location in cells, function and structure are largely uncharacterised. Here we show that TMEM16K is an ER-resident lipid scramblase with a requirement for short chain lipids and calcium for robust activity. Crystal structures of TMEM16K show a scramblase fold, with an open lipid transporting groove. Additional cryo-EM structures reveal extensive conformational changes from the cytoplasmic to the ER side of the membrane, giving a state with a closed lipid permeation pathway. Molecular dynamics simulations showed that the open-groove conformation is necessary for scramblase activity
The evaluation is one of the peculiar aspects of educational activity, and in a formal context, like that at school, is a process that accompanies, determines and characterizes the educational action in its complexity, both planning and methodology.
There is no doubt that good feedback enables the student to understand whether or not the objectives, which has reached his strengths and what are his problems, what should possibly change strategies (Hattie, 2009). But what happens in practice?
Experience has shown that the evaluation time is lived so diametrically opposed by teachers and students. To make significant time for evaluation and to emphasize its formative value which moment monitoring and improvement âin itinereâ of student and teacher strategies, it has been decided to make each student active part in correcting the task, using the software âTeacher Desmosâ, a digital learning environment, which allowed a direct interaction between student and teacher, in a spatial-temporal dimension that goes beyond the traditional school
GREEK STUDIES IN XVTth CENTURY EUROPE
âGreek Studies in 15th Century Europeâ is the website related to a Marie Curie individual research project (2015-17) held by Paola TomĂš and based at the Medieval and Modern Languages Faculty, University of Oxford, under the supervision of Martin McLaughlin and Nigel Wilson. The purpose is to investigate the crucial role played by the return of knowledge of Greek in the transformation of European culture, both through the translation of texts, and through the direct study of the language
