    A Gorenstein criterion for strongly FF-regular and log terminal singularities

    A conjecture of Hirose, Watanabe, and Yoshida offers a characterization of when a standard graded strongly FF-regular ring is Gorenstein, in terms of an FF-pure threshold. We prove this conjecture under the additional hypothesis that the anti-canonical cover of the ring is Noetherian. Moreover, under this hypothesis on the anti-canonical cover, we give a similar criterion for when a normal FF-pure (resp. log canonical) singularity is quasi-Gorenstein, in terms of an FF-pure (resp. log canonical) threshold

    Constituent quark model for nuclear stopping in high energy nuclear collisions

    We study the nuclear stopping in high energy nuclear collisions using the constituent quark model. It is assumed that wounded nucleons with different number of interacted quarks hadronize in different ways. The probabilities of having such wounded nucleons are evaluated for proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. After examining our model in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions and fixing the hadronization functions, it is extended to nucleus-nucleus collisions. It is used to calculate the rapidity distribution and the rapidity shift of final state protons in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The computed results are in good agreement with the experimental data on ^{32}\mbox{S} +\ ^{32}\mbox{S} at Elab=200E_{lab} = 200 AGeV and ^{208}\mbox{Pb} +\ ^{208}\mbox{Pb} at Elab=160E_{lab} = 160 AGeV. Theoretical predictions are also given for proton rapidity distribution in ^{197}\mbox{Au} +\ ^{197}\mbox{Au} at s=200\sqrt{s} = 200 AGeV (BNL-RHIC). We predict that the nearly baryon free region will appear in the midrapidity region and the rapidity shift is Δy=2.22\langle \Delta y \rangle = 2.22.Comment: 40 pages, 16 Postscript figures, submitted to Phys.     Phonon, Two-Magnon and Electronic Raman Scattering of Fe1+yTe1-xSex

    We have measured Raman scattering spectra of single-crystalline FeTe0.6Se0.4 (T_c ~ 14.5 K) and its parent compound Fe1.074Te at various temperatures. In the parent compound Fe1.074Te, A1g and B1g modes have been observed at 157.5 and 202.3 cm-1, respectively, at 5 K. These frequencies qualitatively agree with the calculated results. Two-magnon excitation has been observed around 2300 cm-1 for both compounds. Temperature dependence between the electronic Raman spectra below and above T_c has been observed and 2\Delta and 2\Delta/k_BT_C have been estimated as 5.0 meV and 4.0, respectively.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, to be published in Phys.     Mott Gap Excitations and Resonant Inelastic X-Ray Scattering in Doped Cuprates

    Predictions are made for the momentum- and carrier-dependent degradation of the Mott gap upon doping in high-Tc cuprates as would be observed in Cu K-edge resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS). The two-dimensional Hubbard model with second- and third-nearest-neighbor hopping terms has been studied by numerical exact diagonalization. Special emphasis is placed on the particle-hole asymmetry of the Mott gap excitations. We argue that the Mott gap excitations observed by RIXS are significantly influenced by the interaction between charge carriers and antiferromagnetic correlations.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, revised version; to be published in Phys.     Crystals for Demazure Modules of Classical Affine Lie Algebras

    We study, in the path realization, crystals for Demazure modules of affine Lie algebras of types An(1),Bn(1),Cn(1),Dn(1),A2n1(2),A2n(2),andDn+1(2)A^{(1)}_n,B^{(1)}_n,C^{(1)}_n,D^{(1)}_n, A^{(2)}_{2n-1},A^{(2)}_{2n}, and D^{(2)}_{n+1}. We find a special sequence of affine Weyl group elements for the selected perfect crystal, and show if the highest weight is l\La_0, the Demazure crystal has a remarkably simple structure.Comment: Latex, 28 page
