Design of a near-optimal fluidic operational amplifier
The basic operational amplifier was tested for static gain characteristics and frequency response. The results are of qualitative usefulness only due to fabrication problems with the input and feedback resistances
Fertilizer Requirements of Newly Planted Teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) Seedlings
The results of the present study indicated that height and diameter increments of newly planted teak seedlings
were significantly affected by N and P fertilizers. Leaf weight, shoot weight, root weight and total dry matter
production showed statistically significant responses to fertilizer application at harvest, one year after planting.
Root-shoot ratio decreased as a result of fertilizer application. The present study also revealed that the
application of 300 kg/ha triple superphosphate and 200 kg/ha ammonium sulphate are required to enhance
the height and diameter growth and total plant weight of newly planted teak seedlings on Penambang soil
series
Growth Response of Teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) Seedlings to Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium Fertilizers
Teak (fectona grandis L.f) is one of the high quality timber species in the world. A greenhouse experiment
was conducted to determine the growth response of teak seedlings to N, P, K fertilizers. The results of the present
study indicated that root weight, leaf area and total plant weight of the teak seedlings were significantly affected
by all the three main factors i.e. N, P and K Height increment, leaf weight, shoot weight and root length showed
statistically significant responses to N and P fertilizers. The main effects of N and K but not of P were statistically
significant for diameter increment. There was significant main effect of N only far root-shoot ratio. The present
study also revealed that the application of 564 kg/ha ammonium sulphate, 300 kg/ha triple superphosphate and
75 kg/ha muriate ofpotash are required to enhance height and diameter growth and total plant weight of teak
seedlings at nursery stage
An Abattoir Survey on the Pathology of Swine Livers
A five-week study on the pathology of condemned livers of 100 pigs comprising 75 porkers and
25 sows at Shah A lam abattoir was conducted. The liver lesions consisted of36 with milk spots, 16 with
perihepatitiS, 12 with abscessations, 11 with cholangiohepatitzs, 8 with cholangitzs, 5 with nodular
hyperplasia, 4 with focal necrosis, 3 with post-necrotic scarring, 2 with liPidoszS and one case each of
cystic bile duct hyperplasia, massive necrosis and hepatocarcinoma. Milk spots due to migration of
Ascaris suum larvae was a major pro blem in porkers (41 %). Fourteen (39%) of the milkspot livers
were severely affected having a 4 + lesion score with all the lobes affected. PerihepatitIs was seen only
in porkers while nodular hyperplasia only in sows. Escherichia coli and Kliebsiella sp. were the
common bacteria Isolated from the abscesses. The possible causes of the lesions are discussed
A COMBINED DYNAMIC RELAY UTILIZATION AND ROUTE OPTIMIZATION PROTOCOL FOR BLUETOOTH SCATTERNET
The current specification of Bluetooth has described how to build a piconet, but the methods for constructing a scatternet and inter-piconet communication for routing
have been left out. Critically, there still exist multiple inefficiency issues in the scatternet construction protocol and the subsequent routing protocol. These have
hindered the prospect of the Bluetooth technology for wider applications and usages in the short-range communications domain. To resolve these issues and to get greater
acceptance for the technology, a combined protocol of scatternet construction (by relay utilization and congestion handling) and packet routinglfonvarding (by route
optimization) is proposed, with the aim that a Bluetooth application can be implemented over the infrastructure with ease and efficiency. The proposed protocol is called RURO (Relay Utilization and Route Optimization) protocol, and has three protocol parts. The fust part is Master-based Dynamic Relay Optimization (MDRO) protocol, and the second part, which enhances MDRO, is Dynamic Relay Utilization
(RU) protocol. Both of them will be used for scatternet construction. The third part of the protocol is Route Optimization (RO) for packet routinglfonvarding over the
constructed Bluetooth scatternet topology.
With the scatternet construction protocol, MDRO reduces and optimizes the use of relay nodes, in which the existence of unnecessary relays may increase scheduling
overhead and consume system resources. On the contrary, several links may pass through a single relay that creates a bottleneck and decreases system performance.
Hence, it is important to obtain an optimum number of relays for an efficient scatternet performance, since the system is working with only limited resources. In
overall, RU is aimed to optimize relay nodes, to eliminate congestion, and to obtain balanced traffic loads. For packet routinglfomding over the scatternet topology, the
Route Optimization (RO) protocol is developed to achieve an efficient inter-piconet communication, which directly enhances the RU protocol. The RO protocol considers
the shortest route ahead of the source and destination nodes by utilizing the master's location information. The protocol requires location information of the nodes t
Molecular Characterization of Wheat Genotypes Using SSR Markers
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) rusts are the most destructive and widespread among all other diseases of wheat because of their wide distribution, and their capacity to form new races that can attack previously resistant cultivars which result in serious yield losses. The molecular characterization and genetic diversity of 20 wheat genotypes was investigated using 34 polymorphic Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR) screened primers. About thirty-one loci were found. Lr-19 gene was present in all 20 wheat genotypes that cause resistance against wheat rust. Shalimar-86 and Chakwal-86 showed the highest genetic diversity with SH-02 and Ufaq respectively, giving a 98.94% genetic similarity and a minimum genetic diversity was observed between Chakwal-50 and Bhakar which showed that they are 74% similar. The current research found that SSR makers could distinguish and characterize all of the genotypes, more screened primers could be used for study and for saturation of different regions in further research. The identification of rust resistant genes in Pakistani wheat germplasm will help in accelerating the breeding program in future, including pyramiding of different wheat resistant genes in wheat genotypes and varieties
Blind Detection of Copy-Move Forgery in Digital Audio Forensics
Although copy-move forgery is one of the most common fabrication techniques, blind detection of such tampering in digital audio is mostly unexplored. Unlike active techniques, blind forgery detection is challenging, because it does not embed a watermark or signature in an audio that is unknown in most of the real-life scenarios. Therefore, forgery localization becomes more challenging, especially when using blind methods. In this paper, we propose a novel method for blind detection and localization of copy-move forgery. One of the most crucial steps in the proposed method is a voice activity detection (VAD) module for investigating audio recordings to detect and localize the forgery. The VAD module is equally vital for the development of the copy-move forgery database, wherein audio samples are generated by using the recordings of various types of microphones. We employ a chaotic theory to copy and move the text in generated forged recordings to ensure forgery localization at any place in a recording. The VAD module is responsible for the extraction of words in a forged audio, and these words are analyzed by applying a 1-D local binary pattern operator. This operator provides the patterns of extracted words in the form of histograms. The forged parts (copy and move text) have similar histograms. An accuracy of 96.59% is achieved, and the proposed method is deemed robust against noise
N-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide
In the title compound, C14H15NO3S, the geometry around the S atom of the SO2 group is distorted tetrahedral. The methoxy- and methyl-substituted aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 71.39 (9)°. Intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds form inversion dimers, which stabilize the crystal structure
Pecking at Pecking Order Theory: Evidence from Pakistan’s Non-financial Sector
This study tests the Pecking Order Theory for the capital structure of listed firms in Pakistan. As per Pecking Order Theory in capital structure formulation, internally generated resources would have first priority, followed by debt issuance where equity is used as a last resort. In its strong form, the Pecking Order Theory sustains that equity issues would never occur, whereas in its weak form, limited amounts of issues are acceptable. The methodology adopted in this empirical study involves cross-section regressions and the testing of hypotheses stemming from the underlying theory in its strong and weak forms. A sample of capital structure of non-financial firms listed at KSE is considered from 2001 to 2008. A statistical tool of panel data regression analysis is used to test different firms’ data. The value of R2, t-test and F-Stat indicate firms in KSE supporting the weak form of pecking order theory, i.e., the option of using internal equity and debt is more preferred and a limited amount of external equity is used for reinvestment and fund raising purposes
