Przeszłe przyszłości. Afektywne fakty i historie alternatywne

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie na przyszłość jako na zapomniany i słabo eksplorowany, ale wciąż istotny punkt odniesienia dla badań nad pamięcią i afektami. W ramach tekstu staram się pokazać – za pomocą odniesień zarówno do koncepcji ‘przeszłych przyszłości” B. Massumi’ego, jak i współczesnej polskiej literatury – że konkretne wizje dotyczące przyszłości są w stanie zmieniać zarówno nasze wspomnienia, jak i wpływać na interpretację teraźniejszości. Oznacza to więc, że przyszłość jest – tak samo jak przeszłość – domeną afektywnej polityki, tym łatwiejszą do manipulacji, że przyszłość, w przeciwieństwie do przeszłości, jest zawsze jedynie możliwa, nigdy zaś pewna.The goal of this article is to point to the future as a forgotten and understudied but still essential reference point for studies on memory and affects. Bringing B. Massumi’s notion of ‘past futures’ to bear on contemporary Polish literature, Tabaszewska demonstrates that concrete visions of the future are able to change our memories and impact our interpretation of the present. This means, therefore, that the future is – just as the past – the domain of affective politics, the more liable to be manipulated as the future, unlike the past, is always only possible, never certain

(„Wędrujące pojęcia”. Koncepcja Mieke Bal – przykład inter- czy transdyscyplinarności?

The notions of inter- and transdisciplinarity represent categories which the humanities frequently resort to in the discourse, but which remain difficult to define.  The attempts to do so are most often associated with subscribing to one of the possible models of interpreting relationships between individual disciplines of science. Mieke Bal’s concept of transdisciplinarity, which this paper discusses, envisages a framework where the privileged form of formulating scientific concepts would be in research practice that is rooted not only in the methodologies of individual sciences but most of all in the everyday practices and experiences. 

Avant-garde and Arrière-garde Traditions in the Poetry of Andrzej Sosnowski

This article attempts to answer the question of whether we can describe contemporary poetry as avant-garde? The author recognizes problems associated with defining the avant-garde as a historical phenomenon and proposes — resorting to Marjorie Perloff ’s concepts — a new way of interpreting contemporary poetry as an arrière-garde reconstruction of avant-garde poetics. The oeuvre of Andrzej Sosnowski is analyzed as an interesting example of how the strategy of unoriginality can be incorporated into a new model of arrière-garde poetics

Space in literature. Changes in space representation exemplified in the work of Bolesław Leśmian, Julian Przyboś and Stanisław Barańczak

The text proposes an analysis of the poetry of Bolesław Leśmian, Julian Przyboś and Stanisław Barańczak using a concept whereby space in poems is treated as an analogy to space in reality. The paper takes into consideration various perspectives connected with space, especially the difference between ‘space’ and ‘place’ and the most important oppositions like open space vs. closed space, village vs. city and, moreover, natural space and space which is reconstructed by human activity. In current sociological analyses of human experiences of space, especially natural space, the problem of subjective perception is one of the main issues. Macnaghten and Urry claim that there is not one nature but many alternative natures. More attention is paid to the theories that focus on ‘place’ or ‘point’, not on ‘space’. The aim of presenting the poetry of the three Polish poets mentioned above is to show how space is categorized by the subject. Three ways of space focalization show us that the perspective of the subject is connected with the metaphysical theories of those poets. The most important conclusion of the article is that there is no space without the imagination and memory of the subject

Nature or natures? : nature as perceived and imagined in Polish poetry

Książka ta, wychodząc od koncepcji (Johna Urry'ego i Phila Macnaghtena) istnienia alternatywnych, niesprowadzalnych do siebie metod definiowania przyrody, stanowi próbę prześledzenia sposobów rozumienia i budowania obrazów przyrody w polskiej poezji nowoczesnej. Głównym punktem zainteresowania tej pracy jest twórczość polskich poetów nowoczesnych, takich jak Bolesław Leśmian, Julian Przyboś, Czesław Miłosz oraz Stanisław Barańczak. Analiza ich wierszy jest osadzona zarówno w nieco szerzej pojętym kontekście filozoficznym, zwłaszcza zaś estetycznym i ekokrytycznym, jak i historycznoliterackim. Interpretacja twórczości wzmiankowanych poetów jest zarazem próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy rzeczywiście każdy z tych twórców wykształcił swój indywidualny sposób rozumienia i obrazowania przyrody oraz jakie są jego konsekwencje dla tego, jak kształtują się relacje między jednostką a światem zewnętrznym. Przełamanie opozycyjnego traktowania pojęć takich jak natura i kultura owocuje znaczącą zmianą w tym, jak pojmowana jest tożsamość podmiotu, a także komplikuje wcześniej jednoznaczne, konwencjonalne modele postrzegania przyrody
