The Mediating Influence of Confidence, Autonomy, and Identification on the Relationship Between Servant Leadership and Harmonious Passion

    Get PDF
The current paper explores the relationship between servant leadership and harmonious passion. Harmonious passion refers to a strong desire to freely engage in an activity and is a result of an autonomous internalization of the activity into one\u27s identity. While passion and leadership have been generally linked, the specific relationship between servant leadership and harmonious passion is underdeveloped within the field of servant leadership research. Our paper presents a conceptual model and propositions linking servant leadership and harmonious passion through the mediating mechanisms of follower confidence, autonomy, and identification. Implications and future research are discussed

Deep level defects in n-type unintentionally doped a-plane MgxZn1−xO, grown by molecular beam epitaxy on r-plane sapphire were fully characterized using deep level optical spectroscopy (DLOS) and related methods. Four compositions of MgxZn1−xO were examined with x = 0.31, 0.44, 0.52, and 0.56 together with a control ZnO sample. DLOS measurements revealed the presence of five deep levels in each Mg-containing sample, having energy levels of Ec − 1.4 eV, 2.1 eV, 2.6 V, and Ev + 0.3 eV and 0.6 eV. For all Mg compositions, the activation energies of the first three states were constant with respect to the conduction band edge, whereas the latter two revealed constant activation energies with respect to the valence band edge. In contrast to the ternary materials, only three levels, at Ec − 2.1 eV, Ev + 0.3 eV, and 0.6 eV, were observed for the ZnO control sample in this systematically grown series of samples. Substantially higher concentrations of the deep levels at Ev + 0.3 eV and Ec − 2.1 eV were observed in ZnO compared to the Mg alloyed samples. Moreover, there is a general invariance of trap concentration of the Ev + 0.3 eV and 0.6 eV levels on Mg content, while at least and order of magnitude dependency of the Ec − 1.4 eV and Ec − 2.6 eV levels in Mg alloyed samples

Evolution of the silicon bottom cell photovoltaic behavior during III-V on Si multi-junction solar cells production

    Get PDF
The evolution of the Si bulk minority carrier lifetime during the heteroepitaxial growth of III-V on Si multi-junction solar cell structures via metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy has been analyzed. Initially, the emitter formation produces important lifetime degradation. Nevertheless, a progressive recovery was observed during the growth of the metamorphic GaAsP/Si structure. A step-wise mechanism has been proposed to explain the lifetime evolution observed during this process. The initial lifetime degradation is believed to be related to the formation of thermally-induced defects within the Si bulk. These defects are subsequently passivated by fast-diffusing atomic hydrogen -coming from precursor (i.e. PH3 and AsH3) pyrolysis- during the subsequent III-V growth. These results indicate that the MOVPE environment used to create the III-V/Si solar cell structures has a dynamic impact on the minority carrier lifetime. Consequently, designing processes that promote the recovery of the lifetime is a must to support the production of high-quality III-V/Si solar cells

Models and experimental results from the wide aperture Nb-Ti magnets for the LHC upgrade

MQXC is a Nb-Ti quadrupole designed to meet the accelerator quality requirements needed for the phase-1 LHC upgrade, now superseded by the high luminosity upgrade foreseen in 2021. The 2-m-long model magnet was tested at room temperature and 1.9 K. The technology developed for this magnet is relevant for other magnets currently under development for the high-luminosity upgrade, namely D1 (at KEK) and the large aperture twin quadrupole Q4 (at CEA). In this paper we present MQXC test results, some of the specialized heat extraction features, spot heaters, temperature sensor mounting and voltage tap development for the special open cable insulation. We look at some problem solving with noisy signals, give an overview of electrical testing, look at how we calculate the coil resistance during at quench and show that the heaters are not working We describe the quench signals and its timing, the development of the quench heaters and give an explanation of an Excel quench calculation and its comparison including the good agreement with the MQXC test results. We propose an improvement to the magnet circuit design to reduce voltage to ground values by factor 2. The program is then used to predict quench Hot-Spot and Voltages values for the D1 dipole and the Q4 quadrupole.Comment: 8 pages, Contribution to WAMSDO 2013: Workshop on Accelerator Magnet, Superconductor, Design and Optimization; 15 - 16 Jan 2013, CERN, Geneva, Switzerlan

Monitoring synaptic function at the neuromuscular junction of a mouse expressing synaptopHluorin

We monitored presynaptic exocytosis and vesicle recycling at neuromuscular junctions of transgenic mice expressing synaptopHluorin (spH), using simultaneous optical and electrophysiological recordings. Synaptic transmission was indistinguishable from that in wildtype controls. Fluorescence rose during and decayed monotonically after stimulus trains to the nerve, with amplitudes and decay times increasing with the amount of stimulation. The relatively large size of synaptic terminals allowed us to examine the spatial profile of fluorescence changes. We identified hot spots of exocytosis, which were stable with repeated trains. Photobleach experiments showed that spH freshly exposed by nerve stimulation was not preferentially retrieved by compensatory endocytosis; instead, most retrieved spH preexisted in the surface membrane. Finally, we compared fluorescence and electrical [summed end-plate potentials (EPPs)] estimates of exocytosis, which diverged during repeated trains, as fluorescence exceeded summed EPPs, although the average amplitude of miniature EPPs was unchanged. This might reflect exocytosis of spH-containing, acetylcholine-free (“empty”) vesicles or other organelles during intense stimulation

Midlittoral macrophytobenthos and delimitation of areas sensitive to marine pollutants on the coast of Ceuta (Straits of Gibraltar)

The Straits of Gibraltar has one of the highest levels of shipping traffic in the world; consequently, it runs a high risk of suffering ecological disaster. The main objective of the present study was to delimit areas sensitive to anthropogenic perturbations according to information gathered from midlittoral macrophytobenthic communities. We focused mainly on species richness, which was comparatively higher at the North Bay stations, examining similarities among stations using classification and ordination analyses, together with β diversity indices. Both the ordination and classification analyses discriminated between the stations based on their geographical location, and confirmed the Atlantic influence in the North Bay and the Mediterranean influence in the South Bay. Three levels of different environmental sensitivity were established for priorities in future conservation. The westernmost region of the North Bay, together with the eastern zone (transitional area between the two bays), are those having the highest ecological value and vulnerability. The South Bay can be divided into an area with low ecological value, close to Moroccan waters, and an area with intermediate characteristics.

Single phase a-plane MgZnO epilayers for UV optoelectronics: substitutional behaviour of Mg at large contents

    Get PDF
High quality 1 μm thick a-plane MgxZn1−xO layers were produced by molecular beam epitaxy with Mg contents higher than 50%. Resonant Rutherford backscattering spectrometry combined with ion channeling revealed a uniform growth in both composition and atomic order. The lattice-site location of Mg, Zn and O elements was determined independently, proving the substitutional behaviour of Mg in Zn-sites of the wurtzite lattice. X-Ray diffraction pole figure analysis also confirms the absence of phase separation. Optical properties at such high Mg contents were studied in Schottky photodiodes

Simple intradyne PSK system for UDWDM-PON

A homodyne coherent receiver for ultra-dense WDM-PON with off the shelf components is presented. It consists of a conventional DFB, phase switched clock signal, an optical coupler instead of a 90º hybrid, balanced photodetectors and digital signal processing. The phase swing for a DBPSK signal was optimized and the performance was experimentally evaluated in terms of the sensitivity for several laser linewidths. The acceptable frequency offset and clock time delay was also assessed. The results exhibit a sensitivity of -48 dBm at a BER of 10-3 and indicate a high tolerance to phase noise.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
