The Divine Clockwork: Bohr's correspondence principle and Nelson's stochastic mechanics for the atomic elliptic state
We consider the Bohr correspondence limit of the Schrodinger wave function
for an atomic elliptic state. We analyse this limit in the context of Nelson's
stochastic mechanics, exposing an underlying deterministic dynamical system in
which trajectories converge to Keplerian motion on an ellipse. This solves the
long standing problem of obtaining Kepler's laws of planetary motion in a
quantum mechanical setting. In this quantum mechanical setting, local mild
instabilities occur in the Kelperian orbit for eccentricities greater than

GENDER DIFFERENCES IN THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGERIAL RANKS: AN ASSESSMENT OF DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES
This paper examines the extent to which gender discrimination
is a force effecting the senior managerial ranks of the information
systems (IS) occupation. While the employment trends of women in
the IS occupation is encouraging, we present data which suggests
that IS is not immune to the problems of gender discrimination.
Analyzing data gathered by the Society for Information Management
(SIM), we find several serious problems suggestive of
discriminatory practices. First, a disproportionate majority of
senior IS management is male. Second, women receive lower salaries
than men even when controlling for age, education, job level and

Non-CG methylation patterns shape the epigenetic landscape in Arabidopsis.
DNA methylation occurs in CG and non-CG sequence contexts. Non-CG methylation is abundant in plants and is mediated by CHROMOMETHYLASE (CMT) and DOMAINS REARRANGED METHYLTRANSFERASE (DRM) proteins; however, its roles remain poorly understood. Here we characterize the roles of non-CG methylation in Arabidopsis thaliana. We show that a poorly characterized methyltransferase, CMT2, is a functional methyltransferase in vitro and in vivo. CMT2 preferentially binds histone H3 Lys9 (H3K9) dimethylation and methylates non-CG cytosines that are regulated by H3K9 methylation. We revealed the contributions and redundancies between each non-CG methyltransferase in DNA methylation patterning and in regulating transcription. We also demonstrate extensive dependencies of small-RNA accumulation and H3K9 methylation patterning on non-CG methylation, suggesting self-reinforcing mechanisms between these epigenetic factors. The results suggest that non-CG methylation patterns are critical in shaping the landscapes of histone modification and small noncoding RNA
Characterising Residual Stresses in a Dissimilar Metal Electron Beam Welded Plate
AbstractDissimilar metal welded components are becoming increasingly common in industrial applications especially in the nuclear sector. Dissimilar metal welding refers to the joining of two materials from different alloy groups. One of the basic requirements of the dissimilar metal welded joint is that the joint strength should be greater than or equal to that of the weakest member and a careful characterisation of the joint is crucial before considering the applicability of the dissimilar metal welded components. The current paper explores the feasibility of an electron beam welded joint between ferritic/martensitic Grade 91 or more commonly known as modified P91 and austenitic 316LN stainless steel, without the addition of any filler material. The residual stress distribution arising from the welding is determined from measurements using neutron diffraction experiment and predictions using finite element analysis. The measured data has been analysed using Rietveld and single peak fits. The finite element analysis was conducted on a two-dimensional cross-sectional model using ABAQUS code, implementing the effects of solid-state phase transformation experienced by P91 steel. The predicted residual stresses are compared with the experimental measurements and conclusions are drawn on the final residual stress distribution

very popular. This paper presents a framework for comparing
and evaluating reengineering efforts. The framework is
applied to a case study of the reengineering of the
securities processing function at Merrill Lynch. The paper
compares the old and new process at Merrill. The new
process features image capture, character recognition and
extensive redesign. The reengineering effort has had a
