Multimedia design and transmedia storytelling: content production for microtrainings.

    Get PDF
This article presents an outline of model of the educational microcontent production for microtraining, built from the point of view that learning is a relational, intentional and experiential process, and, as such, it results from social interactions that also occur in labour spaces. The model, entitled "production cycle of pedagogical contents (microcontents)" is conceptually anchored in the theoretical precepts of transmedia storytelling and multimedia design, which in turn, are based in aspects of language, communication and cognition, bringing innovative elements capable of favouring leanings. In order to develop the model proposed and presented in the article, inherent conceptions to transmedia storytelling, multimedia design and education, are bound and articulated. Furthermore, one promotes the dialogue between non-formal education in the context of continuous formation and in the interest of technology transfer actions (TT) and of rural extension and technical assistance, for the formulation of microtraining activities via mobile devices. The essence of the model lies in the proposition of a sequence of steps that culminate in the production and organization of technological contents that incorporate pedagogical paths. Those paths serve as learnings favouring routes. It is accepted that this way of producing and organizing contents increases the chances of the subjects involved in the microtraining reflect upon and investigate their practices, abilities and experiences, thus helping them to resignify their realities and to build new rationalities to address their problems. The model "production cycle of pedagogical contents (microcontents)" was built to potentialize the chances of making microtrainings via mobile devices into massive actions that favour the TT process of Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), under a constructivist learning approach

Crossover from Electronic to Atomic Shell Structure in Alkali Metal Nanowires

After making a cold weld by pressing two clean metal surfaces together, upon gradually separating the two pieces a metallic nanowire is formed, which progressively thins down to a single atom before contact is lost. In previous experiments [1,2] we have observed that the stability of such nanowires is influenced by electronic shell filling effects, in analogy to shell effects in metal clusters [3]. For sodium and potassium at larger diameters there is a crossover to crystalline wires with shell-closings corresponding to the completion of additional atomic layers. This observation completes the analogy between shell effects observed for clusters and nanowires.Comment: 4 page

    8.4GHz VLBI observations of SN2004et in NGC6946

We report on 8.4GHz Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations of the type II-P supernova SN2004et in the spiral galaxy NGC 6946, made on 20 February 2005 (151 days after explosion). The Very Large Array (VLA) flux density was 1.23±\pm0.07 mJy, corresponding to an isotropic luminosity at 8.4GHz of (4.45±\pm0.3)×1025\times10^{25} erg s1^{-1} Hz1^{-1} and a brightness temperature of (1.3±\pm0.3)×108\times10^{8} K. We also provide an improved source position, accurate to about 0.5 mas in each coordinate. The VLBI image shows a clear asymmetry. From model fitting of the size of the radio emission, we estimate a minimum expansion velocity of 15,700±\pm2,000 km s1^{-1}. This velocity is more than twice the expected mean expansion velocity estimated from a synchrotron self-absorbed emission model, thus suggesting that synchrotron self-absorption is not relevant for this supernova. With the benefit of an optical spectrum obtained 12 days after explosion, we favor an emission model which consists of two hot spots on an underlying expanding shell of width comparable to that of SN 1993J.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&A (22/05/07

Abstract. The article presents partial results of an ongoing research action, within the scope of the project ?Geodigital Inclusion and Territorial Management of Family-Based Production Units: Generation of Sustainability Index for the Amazon Biome?. This project provides for the definition and availability of indicators of environmental, economic, agricultural, social and governance sustainability, aiming to assist family farmers in the management of the property, subsidizing them in decision making and increasing family income. Embrapa Territorial Intelligence carries out the execution of this research project in partnership with Embrapa Agricultural Informatics, units of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), headquartered in Campinas, São Paulo (SP), Brazil. The article presents a contribution to the education of the field in Brazil, through a continuous formation action, in the non-formal education modality, through presential and distance training courses, for students of the Agricultural Family School (EFA acronym for which it is known in Brazil) and Rural Family House (CFR acronym for which it is known in Brazil) in the Amazon Biome. This action was based on a training needs diagnosis, conducted through a questionnaire applied to 144 students, distributed between EFA and CFR, located in the Brazilian states of Acre, Amapá, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia and Roraima. The objective of this diagnosis was to identify and analyze the training needs regarding: 1) media, informational and digital skills and competencies of these students; 2) students? level of knowledge and domain of issues related to agricultural production systems and the sustainable development of family agricultural production units. This paper analyzes and presents the result of the diagnosis regarding only the students? media, informational and digital skills and competencies. In this sense, the analysis of these competencies provided the subsidies for the elaboration of a formation and qualification program, oriented under the Pedagogy of Alternance approach, and that considers the specificities and the aspirations of the young students, in search of an education of the field compatible with the local reality and the aspiration of the subjects involved in the process.Na publicação: João Alfredo Carvalho Mangabeira

Tracing shocks and photodissociation in the Galactic center region

We present a systematic study of the HNCO, C18O, 13CS, and C34S emission towards 13 selected molecular clouds in the Galactic center region. The molecular emission in these positions are used as templates of the different physical and chemical processes claimed to be dominant in the circumnuclear molecular gas of galaxies. The relative abundance of HNCO shows a variation of more than a factor of 20 amo ng the observed sources. The HNCO/13CS abundance ratio is highly contrasted (up to a factor of 30) between the shielded molecular clouds mostly affected by shocks, where HNCO is released to gas-phase from grain mantles, and those pervaded by an intense UV radiation field, where HNCO is photo-dissociated and CS production favored via ion reactions. We propose the relative HNCO to CS abundance ratio as a highly contrasted diagnostic tool to distinguish between the influence of shocks and/or the radiation field in the nuclear regions of galaxies and their relation to the evolutionary state of their nuclear star formation bursts.Comment: 25 pages, 5 figures, Accepted for publication in Ap

A first--order irreversible thermodynamic approach to a simple energy converter

Several authors have shown that dissipative thermal cycle models based on Finite-Time Thermodynamics exhibit loop-shaped curves of power output versus efficiency, such as it occurs with actual dissipative thermal engines. Within the context of First-Order Irreversible Thermodynamics (FOIT), in this work we show that for an energy converter consisting of two coupled fluxes it is also possible to find loop-shaped curves of both power output and the so-called ecological function against efficiency. In a previous work Stucki [J.W. Stucki, Eur. J. Biochem. vol. 109, 269 (1980)] used a FOIT-approach to describe the modes of thermodynamic performance of oxidative phosphorylation involved in ATP-synthesis within mithochondrias. In that work the author did not use the mentioned loop-shaped curves and he proposed that oxidative phosphorylation operates in a steady state simultaneously at minimum entropy production and maximum efficiency, by means of a conductance matching condition between extreme states of zero and infinite conductances respectively. In the present work we show that all Stucki's results about the oxidative phosphorylation energetics can be obtained without the so-called conductance matching condition. On the other hand, we also show that the minimum entropy production state implies both null power output and efficiency and therefore this state is not fulfilled by the oxidative phosphorylation performance. Our results suggest that actual efficiency values of oxidative phosphorylation performance are better described by a mode of operation consisting in the simultaneous maximization of the so-called ecological function and the efficiency.Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures, submitted to Phys.
