SU(3) Lattice Gauge Theory With Adjoint Action At Nonzero Temperature

    Get PDF
We study the thermal phase diagram of pure SU(3) gauge theory with fundamental and adjoint couplings. We improve previous estimates of the position of the bulk transition line and determine the thermal deconfinement transition lines for Nt=2,4,6,N_t=2,4,6, and 8. For Nt>4N_t > 4 the deconfinement transition line splits cleanly away from the bulk transition line. With increasing NtN_t the thermal deconfinement transition lines shift to increasingly weaker coupling, joining onto the bulk transition line at increasingly larger βa\beta_a in a pattern consistent with the usual universality picture of lattice gauge theories.Comment: Talk presented by U. The study on this paper focus on the various programmes, facilities and achievements that are available at USHA School of Athletics, Quilandy, Calicut District, Kerala, India. The personal interview technique was adopted for the collection of data. After obtaining permission to visit the school, through proper channel, the author visited the campus personally for the detailed study with a check list to collect data. The detail of the collected data pattern to the study was classified as General Information, Programmes, Facilities, Achievements and Special Information. Going through the analysis and interpretation of the data, it shows about the detailed information of the school and its vision, mission, various future plans and table wise detailed information about achievements and its diagrammatic representation on both state and national level. In short we can state USHA School of Athletics is best in their organization and administration looking forward its goal for achieving the Olympic medals

Honesty and Self-Selection into Cheap Talk

    Get PDF
In many situations, people can lie strategically for their own benefit. Since individuals differ with respect to their willingness to lie, the credibility of statements will crucially depend on who self-selects into such cheap-talk situations. We study this process in a two-stage political competition setting. At the entry stage, potential candidates compete in a contest to become their party’s candidate in an election. At the election stage, the nominated candidates campaign by making promises to voters. Confirming the model’s key prediction, we find in our experiment that dishonest people over-proportionally self-select into the political race and thereby lower voters’ welfare.publishe

Evidence for fractional topological charge in SU(2) pure Yang-Mills theory

    Get PDF
We investigate the spectral flows of the hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator in the fundamental and adjoint representations on two ensembles of pure SU(2) gauge field configurations at the same physical volume. We find several background gauge field configurations where the index of the hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator in the adjoint representation is not four times the index in the fundamental representation. This could imply a topological basis for the gluino condensate in supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories.Comment: 6 pages latex with 1 postscript figure included by eps

Characterization of Zinc Nanoferrite Doped HPMC Polymers Using X-Ray Diffraction

    Get PDF
HPMC Polymer composites were prepared by doping various concentrations of Zinc ferrite nanoparticles using solution casting method. These polymer composites were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction and conductivity measurements. The addition of nanoferrites in the polymer matrix do change the structural and the AC conductivity properties of the film, which is supported by the results obtained and they are discussed briefly in this paper

Pharmacokinetics of a syrup formulation of amoxycillin-potassium clavulanate in children

    Get PDF
The pharmacokinetics of a syrup formulation consisting of four parts of amoxycillin and one part of potassium clavulanate (Augmentin) were studied in 11 paediatric patients, 3 to 14 years of age. Single oral doses of 25 mg of Augmentin per kg body weight (20 mg of amoxycillin per kg plus 5 mg of potassium clavulanate per kg, i.e. 1 mg of the syrup per kg) were administered on an empty stomach, and were well accepted and tolerated. Mean peak plasma concentrations 60-90 min after dosing were 7.2 mg/l for amoxycillin and 2-0 mg/l for clavulanic acid. Mean terminal phase plasma half-lifes were 1.4 and 1.0 h, respectively. It is concluded that 25-mg/kg doses of this syrup formulation of Augmentin administered three times daily should be adequate therapy for various childhood bacterial infection

The Quest for New Approaches in Myocarditis and Inflammatory Cardiomyopathy

    Get PDF
Myocarditis is a diverse group of heart-specific immune processes classified by clinical and histopathological manifestations. Up to 40% of dilated cardiomyopathy is associated with inflammation or viral infection. Recent experimental studies revealed complex regulatory roles for several microribonucleic acids and T-cell and macrophage subtypes. Although the prevalence of myocarditis remained stable between 1990 and 2013 at about 22 per 100,000 people, overall mortality from cardiomyopathy and myocarditis has decreased since 2005. The diagnostic and prognostic value of cardiac magnetic resonance has increased with new, higher-sensitivity sequences. Positron emission tomography has emerged as a useful tool for diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis. The sensitivity of endomyocardial biopsy may be increased, especially in suspected sarcoidosis, by the use of electrogram guidance to target regions of abnormal signal. Investigational treatments on the basis of mechanistic advances are entering clinical trials. Revised management recommendations regarding athletic participation after acute myocarditis have heightened the importance of early diagnosis. Light hadrons in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD

This talk will focus on recent results by the MILC collaboration from simulations of light hadrons in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD. We have achieved high precision results in the pseudoscalar sector, including masses and decay constants, plus quark masses and Gasser-Leutwyler parameters from well controlled chiral perturbation theory fits to our data. We also show spectroscopy results for vector mesons and baryons.Comment: To appear in the proceedings of the First Meeting of the APS Topical Group on Hadronic Physics, Fermilab, Batavia, Illinois, Oct. 24-26, 200

Leveraging lean in the office: Lean office needs a novel and differentiated approach

    Get PDF
Lean Six Sigma tools have been increasingly employed also in the service industry, however with different success as field studies have shown. The reason not only has to be attributed to a poor Change Management, but can also be attributed to the intrinsic characteristics of the Lean techniques, which have been tailored to sustain a stable customer-takted pull-manufacturing principle. An office workplace shows significant differences to a procedural shop floor environment, as it comprises both, procedural and relational processes. The office environment, therefore, cannot be described by a purely transactional shop floor model—it necessitates a separate model, with a differenciated approach, which covers the procedural as well as the relational aspects of office tasks. Also the different characteristics of the transaction object as well as the operation transformation and process governance do not allow an un-adapted application of Toyota’s comprehensive Lean toolset. The approach of Lean for the office environment needs a reinterpretation of the Lean logic and TPS Lean tools for the procedural part as well. Therefore, different and adapted approaches and tools are clearly necessary. The paper shows the objectives and principles of Lean and why Lean manufacturing is also interesting to be applied in the office environment. The differences between office and production jobs are detailed and introduce the problem of lean application in the office. The particular characteristics of the office environment are discussed and enable to enter into the Relational Office Model. Furthermore, we explain the paradigm shift which is necessary to take full benefit of the Lean approach in the office environment, however without presenting the reinterpreted office Lean toolset due to space reasons. This will be the topic of a next paper.ISSN:1940-9893ISSN:1940-990
