Puusta pidemmälle:Määrästä arvoon

Kotimaan vihreästä kullasta valmistetuista tuotteista saadaan monia tuotteita kiertotalouden avulla. Olemme kehittäneet uutta, puumateriaaleihin pohjautuvaa liiketoimintaa yhdessä yritysten, tutkimuslaitosten ja koulutusorganisaatioiden kanssa. Olemme hypänneet puusta pidemmälle – määrästä arvoon.Hankkeessa olemme luoneet metsäalalle uusia työkaluja ja toimintamalleja, joiden avulla puutuotteiden laatu korvaa määrän.Kiertotaloudessa puusta valmistetaan mahdollisimman pitkäikäisiä tuotteita, joita voidaan hyödyntää moneen kertaan ja siten luoda samalle puumateriaalille taloudellista arvoa yhä uudelleen ja uudelleen. Nykyään jätteeksi päätyvä puuaines hyödynnetäänkin jatkossa kestävästi uusien tuotteiden valmistamiseen. Puutuotteisiin voidaan lisätä myös aineetonta arvoa digitaalisten teknologioiden ja palveluiden avulla.Hankkeessa testattiin nopean kokeilun ja innovoinnin työpajamallia, jonka avulla metsäalan yritykset, muotoilijat ja markkinoijat kehittivät yhdessä uusia liikeideoita puutuotteille. Hankkeen aikana tutkittiin myös puutuotteiden kiertotalouden edistämismahdollisuuksia, toteutettiin puutuotteiden elinkaarilaskuri, tutkittiin digitalisaation mahdollisuuksia, sekä suunniteltiin ja testattiin kiertotalouden markkinointikonseptia kaikkien yritysten käyttöön.Lisäksi hankkeessa mukana olevat yritykset kehittivät yhdessä teknologiaa uudella tavalla hyödyntäviä puupohjaisia tuotteitaan. Offscreen and in the chair next to your: conversational agents speaking through actual human bodies

his paper demonstrates how to interact with a conversational agent that speaks through an actual human body face-to-face and in person (i.e., offscreen). This is made possible by the cyranoid method: a technique involving a human person speech shadowing for a remote third-party (i.e., receiving their words via a covert audio-relay apparatus and repeating them aloud in real-time). When a person shadows for an artificial conversational agent source, we call the resulting hybrid an “echoborg.” We report a study in which people encountered conversational agents either through a human shadower face-to-face or via a text interface under conditions where they assumed their interlocutor to be an actual person. Our results show that the perception of a conversational agent is dramatically altered when the agent is voiced by an actual, tangible person. We discuss the potential implications this methodology has for the development of conversational agents and general person perception research

Aesthetic Perspectives on Urban Technologies : Conceptualizing and Evaluating the Technology-Driven Changes in the Urban Everyday Experience

The pervasiveness of technology has undeniably changed the way the urban everyday is structured and experienced. Understanding the deep impact of this development on the everyday experience and its foundational aesthetic components is needed in order to determine how the skills and capacities to cope with the change, as well as to steer it, can be improved. Urban technology solutions – how they are defined, applied and used – are changing the sphere of everyday experience for urban dwellers. Philosophical and applied approaches to urban aesthetics offer perspectives to understand technologically mediated sensory experiences within the urban realm. This chapter shows how new urban technologies act as an agent of change within the familiar urban environment. Raskaus ja synnytys keisarileikkauksen jälkeen

Abstract One out of seven of all parturients and one out of five primigravid women deliver by caesarean section. Of four women having undergone caesarean section, three will give birth vaginally, provided that the indication for surgery has been temporary by nature. Spontaneous beginning of labor and a previous vaginal delivery improve the chances of succesful of vaginal delivery. Rupture of the uterus in subsequent pregnancies is the most feared sequel to a caesarean section, with an occurrence of 0.2 to 1.5%. Delivery by caesarean is indicated in case of previous rupture of the uterus, hysterotomy through vertical incision, and more than two previous caesarean sections.Tiivistelmä Suomessa kaikista synnyttäjistä joka seitsemäs ja ensisynnyttäjistä joka viides synnyttää nykyään keisarileikkauksella. Siksi myös keisarileikkauksen jälkeinen synnytys on synnytysyksiköiden arkipäivää. Kolme neljästä aiemmin keisarileikatusta naisesta synnyttää alakautta, kun leikkausindikaatio on ollut luonteeltaan satunnainen. Synnytyksen spontaani käynnistyminen ja aiempi alatiesynnytys parantavat alatiesynnytyksen onnistumisedellytyksiä. Kohdun repeäminen seuraavissa raskauksissa on keisarileikkauksen pelätyin jälkiseuraus, jonka esiintyvyys on 0,2 — 1,5 %. Synnytyksen hoito keisarileikkauksella on aiheellinen, jos synnyttäjällä on aikaisempi kohturepeämä, pystysuoraan tehty kohtuavaus ja enemmän kuin kaksi aiempaa keisarileikkausta. Muissa tapauksissa synnytystapa voidaan valita tapauskohtaisesti, odottavan naisen kanssa keskustellen. Synnytyksen käynnistyksessä suositaan mekaanisia menetelmiä ja oksitosiinia. Hyvä potilasneuvonta ja riskien tunnistaminen on olennaista, kun keisarileikkauksen jälkeistä synnytystä suunnitellaan ja hoidetaan
