Rubel's problem on bounded analytic functions

The paper shows that for any GδG_\delta set FF of Lebesgue measure zero on the unit circle TT there exists a function fHf \in H^{\infty} such that the radial limits of ff exist at each point of TT and vanish precisely on FF. This solves a problem proposed by Lee Rubel in 1973

The vibrational predissociation spectroscopy of hydrogen cluster ions

    Get PDF
The first infrared spectra of protonated hydrogen clusters in the gas phase have been observed. Predissociation spectra were taken with a tandem mass spectrometer: mass selected hydrogen cluster ions were irradiated inside a rf ion trap by a tunable infrared laser, and the fragment ions created by photodissociation of the clusters were mass selected and detected. Spectra for each product channel were measured by counting fragment ions as a function of laser frequency. Low resolution spectra (Deltanu=10 cm^−1) in the region from 3800 to 4200 cm^−1 were observed for the ions H + 5, H + 7, and H + 9 at 3910, 3980, and 4020 cm−1, respectively. A band was also observed for H + 5 at 3532 cm^−1. No rotational structure was resolved. The frequencies of the band maxima agree well with the frequencies predicted by previous ab initio calculations for the highest modes

Price, people, location, culture and reputation: determinants of Malaysia as study destination by international hospitality and tourism undergraduates

    Get PDF
This study aims to examine why international hospitality and tourism (H&T) undergraduates (IHTUs) travel to Malaysia for higher education and what factors influence their choices. In-depth interviews were conducted with IHTUs studying in six different private higher education institutions. Thematic analysis found five noble factors: price, people, location, culture and reputation. Our findings can assist Malaysian private institutions in better meeting IHTUs’ expectations and reinforcing their loyalty to the institution. Our results can also be useful to improve the quality of the H&T educational systems in Malaysia and simultaneously facilitate the country’s greater aim of becoming a knowledge-based economy and retaining sufficient skilled labor for the H&T industry. Moreover, the results of this study can be effectively used when inventing strategies for the development of international education tourism in Malaysia

Capturing, storing and reusing this braking energy to give additional power can therefore improve fuel economy, particularly in cities and urban areas where the traffic conditions involve many stops and starts. In order to reuse the residual kinetic energy, the vehicle operation consists of 3 basic modes, i.e. Compression Mode (CM), Expander Mode (EM) and normal firing mode. Unlike previous works, a low cost air hybrid engine has been proposed and studied. The hybrid engine operation can be realised by means of production technologies, such as VVT and valve deactivation. In this work, systematic investigation has been carried out on the performance of the hybrid engine concept through detailed gas dynamic modelling using Ricardo WAVE software. Valve timing optimization has been done for the more efficient operation of air hybrid operation and obtaining higher braking and Motoring mean effective pressure for CM and EM respectively.EPSR
