    The Reality of Digital Transformation in Non-Governmental Organizations in Palestine

    The study aimed to identify the digital transformation in Non-Governmental Organizations in Palestine, and the study used the descriptive analytical approach, and a structured questionnaire was used to collect data that contribute to achieving the objectives of the study, and the study population consists of employees in Non-Governmental Organizations in the southern Palestinian governorates, and a random sample was used to collect Data where (183) applicable questionnaires were retrieved. The results of the study showed that the general assessment of digital transformation reached (83.92%), and that the arrangement of areas of digital transformation is as follows: (infrastructure, organizational culture, human resources, leadership and administrative support, plans and strategies, material resources). The study presented a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: the necessity of providing a budget for training and development, attracting expertise and specialists in digital transformation to work in organizations, and providing the necessary software tools to build and manage the digital transformation process

    El presente artículo estudia las principales representaciones de los medios informativos españoles sobre la movilidad de personas y su visibilidad en el discurso periodístico. Analiza la cobertura mediática de la llegada del Barco Aquarius al puerto de Valencia. El análisis se compone de dos fases. La primera, a través de una revisión de 600 noticias publicadas entre el 17 de junio al 10 de julio de 2018 en los 10 medios digitales informativos con mayor audiencia según Comscore. En la segunda etapa se realiza un estudio de caso sobre la visibilidad de las personas refugiadas como fuentes informativas en elpais.com. Los resultados evidencian la escasa cobertura que se otorga a las personas inmigrantes como foco central de las noticias y la baja inclusión como fuentes informativas. This article studies the main representations of the Spanish news media on the mobility of people and their visibility in journalistic discourse. It analyzes the media coverage of the arrival of the Aquarius Ship at the port of Valencia. The analysis has two stages. First, 600 news items are analyzed, published between June 17 and July 10, 2018, in the 10 digital news media with highest audience according to Comscore. In the second stage, a case study is carried out on the visibility of refugees as information sources on elpais.com. The results show the scant coverage given to immigrants as the central focus of the news and the low inclusion as information sources. © 2021 Universidad Complutense de Madrid. All rights reserved

    We present some results about spontaneous breaking of global symmetries for four-flavor, three color QCD on compact spaces with two short directions. When the two short directions have equal length and identical boundary conditions, there is a single transition. When the two short directions have boundary conditions of opposite parity and are of roughly equal extent, the C-breaking and deconfinement transitions separate. When the two short dimensions are of different length, the transitions are modified in qualitative agreement with expectations from dimensional reduction. These features resemble the situation in pure gauge simulations at small and large number of colors.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures, JHEP styl

    The CEACAM1 expression is decreased in the liver of severely obese patients with or without diabetes

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Type 2 diabetes is mainly caused by insulin resistance. The carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1) is an important candidate for causing insulin resistance.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The CEACAM1 expression was evaluated immunohistochemically in the liver tissues of 99 severely obese or non-obese subjects with or without diabetes. The CEACAM1 expression was classified into two categories: a normal expression or a decreased expression.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The CEACAM1 expression was markedly decreased in the hepatocytes with macrovesicular steatosis. A decreased CEACAM1 expression was noted in 29 (29%) of 99 cases. The incidence of a decreased CEACAM1 expression was significantly higher in high grade fatty liver as well as severe obesity with or without diabetes (p < 0.05). The incidence of a decreased CEACAM1 expression was not different between the diabetic and non-diabetic groups.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>This data supports that a decreased CEACAM1 expression is related to obesity and a fatty liver.</p

    Short communication: Influence of vitamins C and E on sperm motility of rabbit bucks

    [EN] The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of vitamin C and E supplementation on rabbit sperm motility. Forty INAT breed bucks aged 8.5 mo were divided into 2 groups: control group (C) and treated group (T) receiving vitamins C (1 g/L) and E (1 g/L) incorporated in the drinking water. Semen was collected using an artificial vagina over 6 wk (C, total ejaculates=81; T, total ejaculates=76). The massal motility (MM) was evaluated in the fresh and raw semen. Then, the individual motility at 0 (IM0), 2 (IM2) and 4 h (IM4) after semen collection was determined in diluted semen and conserved at +4°C for the 2 groups. MM was higher in T than in C group (P=0.0012). However, the individual motilities IM0, IM2 and IM4 did not vary between the 2 groups.     Atmospheric potential oxygen: New observations and their implications for some atmospheric and oceanic models

    Measurements of atmospheric O2/N2 ratios and CO2 concentrations can be combined into a tracer known as atmospheric potential oxygen (APO ≈ O2/N2 + CO2) that is conservative with respect to terrestrial biological activity. Consequently, APO reflects primarily ocean biogeochemistry and atmospheric circulation. Building on the work of Stephens et al. (1998), we present a set of APO observations for the years 1996-2003 with unprecedented spatial coverage. Combining data from the Princeton and Scripps air sampling programs, the data set includes new observations collected from ships in the low-latitude Pacific. The data show a smaller interhemispheric APO gradient than was observed in past studies, and different structure within the hemispheres. These differences appear to be due primarily to real changes in the APO field over time. The data also show a significant maximum in APO near the equator. Following the approach of Gruber et al. (2001), we compare these observations with predictions of APO generated from ocean O2 and CO2 flux fields and forward models of atmospheric transport. Our model predictions differ from those of earlier modeling studies, reflecting primarily the choice of atmospheric transport model (TM3 in this study). The model predictions show generally good agreement with the observations, matching the size of the interhemispheric gradient, the approximate amplitude and extent of the equatorial maximum, and the amplitude and phasing of the seasonal APO cycle at most stations. Room for improvement remains. The agreement in the interhemispheric gradient appears to be coincidental; over the last decade, the true APO gradient has evolved to a value that is consistent with our time-independent model. In addition, the equatorial maximum is somewhat more pronounced in the data than the model. This may be due to overly vigorous model transport, or insufficient spatial resolution in the air-sea fluxes used in our modeling effort. Finally, the seasonal cycles predicted by the model of atmospheric transport show evidence of an excessive seasonal rectifier in the Aleutian Islands and smaller problems elsewhere.
