Passive damping concepts for free and forced member and grillage vibration
The performance of potential passive damping concepts is investigted for a long tubular aluminum alloy member, and a two-bar grillage structure. The members are restrained partially at the ends and are of the type being considered by NASA for possible use in the construction of a future space station. Four different passive damping concepts are studied and include nylon brush, wool swab, copper brush, and silly putty in chamber dampers. Both free and forced vibration tests are conducted. It is found that the silly putty in chamber damper concept provides considerably greater passive damping as compared to that of the other three concepts. For the grillage natural vibration, a five wool swab damper configuration provides greater damping than the five silly putty dampers in chamber configuration. Due to the constrained motion imposed by the vibrator used in the tests, the effectiveness of the passive dampers could not be adequately evaluated for the individual member. However, it is found that for the grillage under forced vibration, the five silly putty dampers in chamber damper configuration provides very effective passive damping although only at and around the resonant frequency. At resonance, these dampers provide a 51 percent reduction in the dynamic magnification factor for this case
Extending Social Learning Theories to Collectivist Cultures: The Effect of Behavior Modeling Training, Service Orientation and Language Skills on Service Skills and Behaviors
Although previous research has suggested that training approaches using behavior modeling yield better results than lecture-based approaches, these assumptions have not been tested in collectivist cultures. This study examined the effects of these alternative training methods for service knowledge and service behavior with a field experiment involving 117 Russian hotel employees. Despite no previous exposure to behavior modeling and no cultural context for service, the behavioral modeling training approach relative to the lecture-based approach yielded higher levels of both service knowledge and behavior. Since the setting was an English speaking hotel, difference in language ability were also considered and behavioral modeling was found to be a more effective training approach regardless of English ability. It also appears that service orientation is positively associated with both knowledge and behavior. The results indicate behavior modeling may be most helpful to those employees least predisposed to service or with lower language abilities

Newly Developed Prodrugs and Prodrugs in Development; an Insight of the Recent Years
Background: The design and development of prodrugs is the most common and e ective
strategy to overcome pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic drawbacks of active drugs. A respected
number of prodrugs have been reached the drugs market throughout history and the recent years
have witnessed a significant increase in the use of prodrugs as a replacement of their parent drugs
for an e cient treatment of various ailment. Methods: A Scan conducted to find recent approved
prodrugs and prodrugs in development. Results: Selected prodrugs were reported and categorized in
accordance to their target systems. Conclusions: the prodrug approach has shown many successes and
still remains a viable and e ective approach to deliver new active agents. This conclusion is supported
by the recent approved prodrugs and the scan of clinical trials conducted between 2013–2018.Funding: This research received no external funding.
