Planning System for Multi-Agent Based Reconfigurable Fixtures, Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2010, nr 3

    Get PDF
This paper describes a concept of the planning system for self adaptable, reconfigurable fixtures composed of mobile locators (robotic agents) that can freely move on a bench and reposition below the supported part, without removing the part from the fixture. The main role of the planner is to generate the admissible plan of relocation of the mobile agents. A constrained nonlinear optimization problem is formulated to find the optimal locations for supporting heads

Skill-Based Bimanual Manipulation Planning, Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2012, nr 4

The paper focuses on specification and utilization of manipulation skills to facilitate programming of bimanual manipulation tasks. Manipulation skills are actions to reach predefined goals. They constitute an interface between low-level constraint-based task specification and high level symbolic task planning. The task of the robot can be decomposed into subtasks that can be resolved using manipulation skills. Rubik’s cube solving problem is presented as an example of a 3D manipulation task using two-arm robot system with diverse sensors such as vision, force/torque, tactile sensors

University Students’ vs. Lay People’s Perspectives on Organ Donation and Improving Health Communication in Poland

    Get PDF
Given that organ transplant is a standard medical technology admitted in medical practice, and taking into consideration that Polish transplantology is regarded among the most advanced in the world one should expect to find similarly high levels of acceptance in interviewees asked for their opinion on vital organ transplantation and their willingness to donate a paired organ ex vivo, or a vital organ ex mortuo in order to rescue the life of a recipient with a missing vital organ. The paper presents research build on the societal assessment of vital organ donation and transplant policies in Poland with the focus on students. Data have been collected at three different universities (Boratyński et al., Questionnaire on the Bases of Transplantation Medicine 2016/7). Various assessments concerning a vital organ donation have been observed. The authors discuss educational factors contributing to these variety including factual knowledge and ethical issues

A Software Platform for Research on Auction Mechanisms, Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2011, nr 3

    Get PDF
The platform for research on auction mechanisms is a distributed simulation framework providing means to carry out research on resource allocation efficiency mechanisms and user strategies. Both kinds of algorithms examined are completely user-defined. Interaction of algorithms is recorded and pre-defined measures for the final resource allocation are calculated. Underlying database design provides for efficient results lookup and comparison across different experiments, thus enabling research groupwork. A recognised, open and flexible information model is employed for experiment descriptions

The IP QoS System, Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2011, nr 3

    Get PDF
This paper shortly describes the IP QoS System which offers strict quality of service (QoS) guarantees in IP-based networks and supports a number of, so called, classes of services. Such solution requires to implement in the network a set of QoS mechanisms and algorithm working on packet, connection request and provisioning levels. Furthermore, we require signaling system for informing the network about new connection request and network resource allocation capabilities for providing required resources to given connection. The IP QoS System is based on the next generation networks (NGN) and differentiated services (DiffServ) architectures and, at least for now, it is designed for single domainonly

Variable structure robot control systems: The RAPP approach

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper presents a method of designing variable structure control systems for robots. As the on-board robot computational resources are limited, but in some cases the demands imposed on the robot by the user are virtually limitless, the solution is to produce a variable structure system. The task dependent part has to be exchanged, however the task governs the activities of the robot. Thus not only exchange of some task-dependent modules is required, but also supervisory responsibilities have to be switched. Such control systems are necessary in the case of robot companions, where the owner of the robot may demand from it to provide many services.

Cyber-security for Mobile Service Robots – Challenges for Cyber-physical System Safety

    No full text
A review of the known and an indication of the new threats for cyber-physical robotic systems, caused by cybernetic attacks, serves, in this paper, as a basis for the analysis of the known methods relied upon to detect and mitigate consequences of such attacks. A particular emphasis is placed on threats specific for cyber-physical systems, as they are a feature distinguishing these systems from their traditional Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) counterparts. Based on the review of literature and own analyses, unresolved issues regarding the cyber-security of robot systems are presented and discussed
