    Get PDF
There are having been many efforts made to increase the capacity and strength in concrete technology. The use of natural fibers in concrete technology is one of the techniques used to achieve these objectives. The use of natural fibers as an additive in concrete is not widespread and not yet found a place in the industry. This research was carried out to establish the effects of pine fiber addition on concrete compressive and flexural strength. In this study, a total of 36 cubes (150mm x 150mm x 150 mm) and 12 small beams (100mm x 100mm x 500 mm) were prepared according to three types of mixture proportion and all these samples were cured in water curing for 7 days, 14 days and 35 days. The three types of concrete mixture used in this research were concrete containing 0.1% pine fiber, 0.2% pine fiber and 0.3% pine fiber and plain concrete as control sample. The test results showed that the 0.1% pine fiber content is the optimum percentage of pine fiber additional. Even though the compressive strength result does not show the satisfied result, but the flexural strength of concrete is increased for 0.1% pine fiber. However, the strength of concrete does not increase with increasing of fiber content. The results show a good sign for further investigation to increase the flexural strength of concrete in presence of pine fiber as additive

    Get PDF
Landslide is a massive catastrophe occurring all around the world and causing thousand of fatalities throughout the year. It is also ranked as second disaster in the level of destructiveness. The awareness on landslide issue has rise since 1960s, somehow there are still lack of technology developed to mitigate the risk of landslide occurrence. The existed technologies produced are highly sophisticated plus expensive. The campaign introduce by the local authority also did not enough to enhance awareness to prepare, and to reduce the impact of landslide. To solve this, this project will develop a wireless network system (WSN) for landslide early warning system which will alert the possibilities of landslide occurrence for further action and mitigation. Several sensors will be chosen to measure monitor the significant factors which possibly induce landslide. The effectiveness and robustness of the system will also be evaluated throughout the project via slope model and data acquisition in Moteview software

Livestock production levels are currently unable to meet market demand. This is because the method used to produce livestock feeds is unproductive and efficient, beside lack of technology to process livestock feed. Therefore, some improvements should be made to ensure the sustainability, speed, and quality of feed stuffs with the complete specifications. Normally, livestock production process involves the following process processes which are crushing of raw materials, drying of raw materials that have been crushed, blending of feedstuffs with certain additives, and production of the products either in the form of pellets or pads. The main objective were to develop and fabricate the improvement component in processing the animal feed, increase the production rate and increase the chef life of the animal feed. So, towards the steps to improve the livestock production, industry A was selected the design 1 for their fabrication. The components contained in design 1 are the feeder machine, roller conveyor, weight balance, and packaging system. For feeder machines, several simulated has been tested to identify the stress and strength of the feeder machine in the real situation. After feeder machine modifications have been passed all the simulation tests, an agronomic features has been applied to the design, in addition to help solving the problem of agronomic conditions to the workers. After fabricated, the feed processing machine is tested to determine the extent to which the productivity and efficiency of the food feed can be improved. With the improvement toward the machine compared to existing, the production rate of the industry shows double increment from its original state. For the packing system, to ensure that the feed product can last a long time, the plastic that should be used is a plastic with thickness of 0.8mm, and the air contained in the plastic should be removed by using industrial vacuum. With this method the livestock feed will be long lasting

Experimental Works and Analysis to Determine the Degradation of Permanent Magnet Force under Cyclic Magnetic Field

    Get PDF
Permanent magnet is widely used in today’s application such motors we used in car or generator in power stations. Materials commonly used are neodymium, alnico, and also soft ferrites. Its unique ability to retain its magnet force for such a long time is one of the attributes it excels in. However, loss of magnet’s strength or demagnetization can bring major impact in applications. External field or electric current is one of the method where a magnet can be magnetized and demagnetized by altering the number of domains of electrons which the mechanism of magnetism is present. Permanent magnet – permanent magnet interactions in cyclic motion resembles what happen in both motor and generators. Their magnetic strength is indeed all acting differently before, during and after the application to be specific, in cyclic motion. Hence, further research must be done followed by in-depth analysis to know how these magnets would react under cyclic motion

    Get PDF
Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) is usually considered as a chain consisting three separate elements; capture, transport and storage of the CO2. The capture and the storage are the two most studied parts of the CCS chain; however, the transport also gives the important roles in this system. For this study, the title of the project is to study the dynamics of the flow in the long pipeline for the transport of CO2. The dynamics flow of the CO2 transport in a long pipeline was studied and analyzed. At first, before the study is carried out, the author thinks of the uncertainties that will arise in the transport of CO2. Some of the uncertainties that might occur are the effect of the flow, the pressure drop and the changes of the temperature but for this research, the author will do the study of the effect of the flow and the changes in the velocity and the pressure in long pipeline of the CO2 transport. For the completion of this study, the author used two main methods which is using the research methodology and construction of the pipeline model using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software. The research is carried out for the project’s concept understanding. The research had been done by reading the technical articles, and the previous related research from various author. Later the model is constructed using the CFD software. As expected, for a very long and open ended pipeline, the pressure will drop as the length of the pipeline increases. Besides that the bending angle of the pipe also give impact to the flow of the CO2; the greater the bending angle of the pipeline, the higher the CO2 flow pressure will loss. In addition, in the bending pipeline, there will be a back flow occurred to the CO2 flo
