Functional Diversity of Microbial Communities in Sludge-Amended Soils
AbstractThe BIOLOG method was applied to exploration of functional diversity of soil microbial communities in sludge-amended soils sampled from the Yangtze River Delta. Results indicated that metabolic profile, functional diversity indexes and Kinetic parameters of the soil microbial communities changed following soil amendment with sewage sludge, suggesting that the changes occurred in population of the microbes capable of exploiting carbon substrates and in this capability as well. The kinetic study of the functional diversity revealed that the metabolic profile of the soil microbial communities exhibited non-linear correlation with the incubation time, showing a curse of sigmoid that fits the dynamic model of growth of the soil microbial communities. In all the treatments, except for treatments of coastal fluvo-aquic soil amended with fresh sludge and dried sludge from Hangzhou, kinetic parameters K and r of the functional diversity of the soil microbial communities decreased significantly and parameter S increased. Changes in characteristics of the functional diversity well reflected differences in C utilizing capacity and model of the soil microbial communities in the sludge-amended soils, and changes in functional diversity of the soil microbial communities in a particular eco-environment, like soil amended with sewage sludge
Cystic meningioangiomatosis with enhancing mural nodule on MRI and no calcification on CT
The neuroradiological features of meningioangiomatosis (MA) are non-specific. We report a young man with sporadic MA. The plain computerized tomography (CT) demonstrated a deep located right cystic lesion without calcification. On magnetic resonance imaging, the cystic mass lesion was confirmed with a mural nodule with significant enhancement on contrast-enhanced images
Application of the fruit fly optimization algorithm to an optimized neural network model in radar target recognition
With the development of computer technology, there are more and more algorithms and models for data processing and analysis, which brings a new direction to radar target recognition. This study mainly analyzed the recognition of high resolution range profile (HRRP) in radar target recognition and applied the generalized regression neural network (GRNN) model for HRRP recognition. In order to improve the performance of HRRP, the fruit fly optimization algorithm (FOA) algorithm was improved to optimize the parameters of the GRNN model. Simulation experiments were carried out on three types of aircraft. The improved FOA-GRNN (IFOA-GRNN) model was compared with the radial basis function (RBF) and GRNN models. The results showed that the IFOA-GRNN model had a better convergence accuracy, the highest average recognition rate (96.4 %), the shortest average calculation time (275 s), and a good recognition rate under noise in-terference. The experimental results show that the IFOA-GRNN model has a good performance in radar target recognition and can be further promoted and applied in practice
Bagging ensemble selection for regression
Bagging ensemble selection (BES) is a relatively new ensemble learning strategy. The strategy can be seen as an ensemble of the ensemble selection from libraries of models (ES) strategy. Previous experimental results on binary classification problems have shown that using random trees as base classifiers, BES-OOB (the most successful variant of BES) is competitive with (and in many cases, superior to) other ensemble learning strategies, for instance, the original ES algorithm, stacking with linear regression, random forests or boosting. Motivated by the promising results in classification, this paper examines the predictive performance of the BES-OOB strategy for regression problems. Our results show that the BES-OOB strategy outperforms Stochastic Gradient Boosting and Bagging when using regression trees as the base learners. Our results also suggest that the advantage of using a diverse model library becomes clear when the model library size is relatively large. We also present encouraging results indicating that the non negative least squares algorithm is a viable approach for pruning an ensemble of ensembles
Phenotypic blood glutathione concentration and selenium supplementation interactions on meat colour stability and fatty acid concentrations in Merino lambs
The interaction between blood glutathione (GSH) and supplementation of selenium (Se, 2.5 mg/kg diet) on meat colour and fatty acids concentrations was studied. Forty eight Merino lambs selected for high blood GSH (HGSH) or low GSH (LGSH) concentration were used. They were fed individually with or without Se supplement for 8 weeks. There were interactions (P< 0.05) between GSH and Se on the colour stability (as w630 nm/w580 nm ratio) of m. longissimus (LD), m. semimembranosus (SM) and m. semitendinosus. Without Se supplementation the ratio was higher in HGSH than LGSH group. However, the difference was reduced with Se supplement. Polyunsaturated and n-3 fatty acids in SM and LD were higher in HGSH than in LGSH group (P< 0.05), and did not change with Se supplement. Se supplementation increased Se content in LD (P< 0.001) and the lungs (P< 0.05), but had no influence in the heart

Response of an Indented Square Tube under Impact Loading
The dynamic buckling of the square tube with a V-shape indent under impact loading was investigated by experimental and numerical methods. The collapse modes of square tubes with different locations of indentation points were obtained experimentally. Numerical calculations of each experimental load case were conducted to analyze the effect of the indentation point location on the crush force and energy absorption of the tube. Numerical results agree well with the experimental ones. The results show that the indentation point location exerts a significant influence on the crush force and energy absorption. Compared to an indentation-free tube, the peak force of the indented tube is evidently reduced. The collapse process of the tube includes two buckling steps. The first one begins from the indentation either forward or backward with respect to the end until the folds are densified, then the second buckling starts backward or forward, which results in a second peak force in the collapse process.
extension of the large-- partial wave dispersion relations
Continuing our previous work(JHEP 0706:030,2007), large-- techniques and
partial wave dispersion relations are used to discuss scattering
amplitudes. We get a set of predictions for low-energy chiral
perturbation theory couplings. They are provided in terms of the masses and
decay widths of scalar and vector mesons.Comment: 7 page
A self-consistent method to analyze the effects of the positive Q-value neutron transfers on fusion
AbstractConsidering the present limitation of the need for external parameters to describe the nucleus–nucleus potential and the couplings in the coupled-channels calculations, this work introduces an improved method without adjustable parameter to overcome the limitation and then sort out the positive Q-value neutron transfers (PQNT) effects based on the CCFULL calculations. The corresponding analysis for Ca+Ca, S,Ca+Sn, and S,Ca+Zr provides a reliable proof and a quantitative evaluation for the residual enhancement (RE) related to PQNT. In addition, the RE for S32,Ca40+Zr94 shows an unexpected larger enhancement than S32,Ca40+Zr96 despite the similar multi-neutron transfer Q-values. This method should rather strictly test the fusion models and be helpful for excavating the underlying physics
