TEEG (electroencephalography, EEG) is a kind of single which we know human brain function active.BT (Biofeedback Therapy, BT) is based the method of EEG technology, focusing on the studies of human thoughts and emotions activities. We shall study new points that the two kinds of EEG technology are used simultaneously, to find the BT can be quantified abnormal EEG activities in mental illness, to provide the certain reference value in clinical. We found that BT can quantify β wave, θ wave and some abnormal phenomenon of traditional EEG. Therefore, based on the conventional examination of the traditional EEG in clinical, we used BT to further check. The results show not only to quantify the advantages of traditional EEG brain waves specific values occur, such as the specific data of fatigue (θ wave) and anxiety (β wave), but also abnormal phenomenon. Quantized data would become more intuitive, and to assess the clinical efficacy of treatment more scientific and objectivity

Crystal structure and biochemical analyses reveal Beclin 1 as a novel membrane binding protein

The Beclin 1 gene is a haplo-insufficient tumor suppressor and plays an essential role in autophagy. However, the molecular mechanism by which Beclin 1 functions remains largely unknown. Here we report the crystal structure of the evolutionarily conserved domain (ECD) of Beclin 1 at 1.6 Å resolution. Beclin 1 ECD exhibits a previously unreported fold, with three structural repeats arranged symmetrically around a central axis. Beclin 1 ECD defines a novel class of membrane-binding domain, with a strong preference for lipid membrane enriched with cardiolipin. The tip of a surface loop in Beclin 1 ECD, comprising three aromatic amino acids, acts as a hydrophobic finger to associate with lipid membrane, consequently resulting in the deformation of membrane and liposomes. Mutation of these aromatic residues rendered Beclin 1 unable to stably associate with lipid membrane in vitro and unable to fully rescue autophagy in Beclin 1-knockdown cells in vivo. These observations form an important framework for deciphering the biological functions of Beclin 1

The Resource Utilization of Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes [Mart.] Solms) and Its Challenges

The unchecked growth of Eichhornia crassipes can cause significant harm, including covering of the water surface, depletion of oxygen, clogging of river channels, and promotion of the breeding of flies and mosquitoes. These effects can significantly impact farmland irrigation, water transportation, and human health. However, methods for controlling its growth are not ideal, and control using biological and chemical agents can result in secondary pollution. The utilization of E. crassipes as a resource, for example, as animal feed or organic substrates, can not only turn waste into valuable resources, but it can also solve the problem of its growth, thus bringing about economic and ecological benefits. In this paper, the growth and ecological characteristics of E. crassipes, its nutrient composition, and resource utilization approaches were reviewed. The challenges associated with the large-scale utilization of E. crassipes were also analyzed in order to provide references for the control and resource utilization of the species. Regarding challenges such as the difficulty of cultivation and the high cost of harvesting and dehydrating, it is necessary to investigate the proper water surface and coverage characteristics of E. crassipes cultivation to assure adequate biomass and protect the ecological landscape. It is also necessary to evaluate the effect of E. crassipes cultivation on the health of aquatic ecosystems and the safety of the water environment in order to prevent the significant potential ecological and environmental risks. In addition, developing portable, high-efficiency facilities to promote the effectiveness of harvesting, transportation and dehydration are needed, as well as further improvement in the techniques of utilization and assessment of the economic value

Participation of Lattice Oxygen in Perovskite Oxide as a Highly Sensitive Sensor for p-Phenylenediamine Detection

The harmful effects on the human body from p-phenylenediamine (PPD) in hair dyes can cause allergies and even cancer. Therefore, it is particularly important to accurately control and detect the content of PPD in our daily products and environment. Here, a small amount of non-metallic elemental P doped in perovskite oxide of SrCoO3−δ (SC) forms a good catalytic material, SrCo0.95P0.05O3−δ (SCP), for PPD detection. The improved performance compared with that of the parent SC can be attributed to three contributing factors, including a larger amount of highly oxidative oxygen species O22−/O−, better electrical conductivity, and more active sites on the P5+-oxygen bonds of SCP. Moreover, the lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM) with highly active species of lattice O vacancies and adsorbed –OO for electrocatalytic oxidation of PPD by the SCP/GCE (glass carbon electrode) sensor is proposed in our work. More importantly, the SCP/GCE sensor exhibits good stability, a low limit of detection, and high reliability (error < 5.78%) towards PPD determination in real samples of hair dyes, suggesting the substantial research potential for practical applications

Background/Aims: In this study, the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression profile in human thoracic aortic dissection (TAD), a highly lethal cardiovascular disease, was investigated. Methods: Human TAD (n=3) and normal aortic tissues (NA) (n=3) were examined by high-throughput sequencing. Bioinformatics analyses were performed to predict the roles of aberrantly expressed lncRNAs. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied to validate the results. Results: A total of 269 lncRNAs (159 up-regulated and 110 down-regulated) and 2, 255 mRNAs (1 294 up-regulated and 961 down-regulated) were aberrantly expressed in human TAD (fold-change> 1.5, P< 0.05). QRT-PCR results of five dysregulated genes were consistent with HTS data. A lncRNA-mRNA coexpression analysis showed positive correlations between the up-regulated lncRNA (ENSG00000269936) and its adjacent up-regulated mRNA (MAP2K6, R=0.940, P< 0.01), and between the down-regulated lncRNA_1421 and its down-regulated mRNAs (FBLN5, R=0.950, P< 0.01; ACTA2, R=0.96, P< 0.01; TIMP3, R=0.96, P< 0.05). The lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network indicated that the up-regulated lncRNA XIST and p21 had similar sequences targeted by has-miR-17-5p. The results of luciferase assay and fluorescence immuno-cytochemistry were consistent with that. And qRT-PCR results showed that lncRNA XIST and p21 were expressed at a higher level and has-miR-17-5p was expressed at a lower level in TAD than in NA. The predicted binding motifs of three up-regulated lncRNAs (ENSG00000248508, ENSG00000226530, and EG00000259719) were correlated with up-regulated RUNX1 (R=0.982, P< 0.001; R=0.967, P< 0.01; R=0.960, P< 0.01, respectively). Conclusions: Our study revealed a set of dysregulated lncRNAs and predicted their multiple potential functions in human TAD. These findings suggest that lncRNAs are novel potential therapeutic targets for human TAD
