Change of size and type of patent ductus arteriosus in a one year old infant during routine echocardiographic study

    Get PDF
There are only very few publications which document reactivity of patent ductus arteriosus. This report documentes the reactivity of a patent arterial duct in a one year old infant, 6.5 kg weight during a routine echocardiographic color Doppler study. Echocardiographic images were obtained during conscious sedation.peer-reviewe

Sparse Reconstruction-based Detection of Spatial Dimension Holes in Cognitive Radio Networks

In this paper, we investigate a spectrum sensing algorithm for detecting spatial dimension holes in Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs (MIMO) transmissions for OFDM systems using Compressive Sensing (CS) tools. This extends the energy detector to allow for detecting transmission opportunities even if the band is already energy filled. We show that the task described above is not performed efficiently by regular MIMO decoders (such as MMSE decoder) due to possible sparsity in the transmit signal. Since CS reconstruction tools take into account the sparsity order of the signal, they are more efficient in detecting the activity of the users. Building on successful activity detection by the CS detector, we show that the use of a CS-aided MMSE decoders yields better performance rather than using either CS-based or MMSE decoders separately. Simulations are conducted to verify the gains from using CS detector for Primary user activity detection and the performance gain in using CS-aided MMSE decoders for decoding the PU information for future relaying.Comment: accepted for PIMRC 201

Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities in Incarcerated Populations

Alarming disparities in population health and wellness in the United States have led to multi-disciplinary research efforts to create health equity. Identifying disparities, elucidating the etiological bases of disparities, and implementing solutions to eliminate disparities are part of the U.S. national health agenda. Racial and ethnic disparities have been identified throughout the cancer control continuum, in cardiovascular disease, diabetes and a multitude of other conditions. The causes of disparities are complex, condition specific, and conjectured to result from combinations of biological and socio-behavioral factors. Racial and ethnic health disparities within the vast incarcerated communities have been excluded from most studies, yet are of significant ethical and fiscal concern to inmates, governing bodies, and non-incarcerated communities into which inmates return. Importantly, research on racial and ethnic disparities in this unique population may shed light on the relative etiologies of health disparities and solutions for creating health equity throughout the general population in the United States

In this paper the behavior of clitics in Shabaki a northwestern Indo-Iranian language spoken in Nineveh plains in Iraq is discussed in detail with respect to forms and distributions and much more interestingly with respect to sensitivity to Wackernagel s Law The paper also addresses clitic doubling clustering and climbing which may be considered the peculiar defining features of Shabaki They could be added to nouns pronouns verbs prepositions and other clitics Shabaki is a language with multiple cliticization and is surprisingly complicated with respect to this phenomenon It has an intricate system of clitics which include subject pronominal clitics object pronominal clitics dative and accusative possessive pronominal clitics demonstrative pronoun clitics ezafe clitics diminutive clitics additive clitics aspectual clitics tense clitics copular clitics and negative clitic

Transaction cost is one of the characteristics of imperfect market. Transaction cost on soybean farming will affect the level of profit soybean farming. The purpose of this research were to analyze the transaction cost structure and the effect of transaction cost on the profitability of soybean farming. Research method used Transaction Cost Analysis and multiple linear regression. This research was held in Lamongan, Jawa Timur and interviewed 120 soybean farmers to derive the data. The results showed that the transaction cost component on soybean farming consists of (1) information cost; (2) negotiation cost; (3) coordination cost; (4) enforcement cost; (5) monitoring cost and (6) risk cost. The amount of the transaction cost that are formed on soybean farming was Rp144.120,86. Negotiation cost was the highest cost of transaction cost component that was 60,30%, followed by information cost 14,07%, coordination cost 12,22%, enforcement cost 8,03%, monitoring cost 4,23% and risk cost 1,15%. Transacion cost have a negative and significant effect on the profitability of soybean farming
