Community-level impacts of climate-smart agriculture interventions on food security and dietary diversity in climate-smart villages in Myanmar
Based on survey responses, the study examined how pathways of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices, tailored to different contexts of Myanmarâs four agroecological regions, contributed to observed changes in health and livelihoods. Livelihood resilience may rely on diversification, including climate smart fruit trees; livestock; and offâfarm incomes, as risk aversion strategies for the rural poor. Analysis of knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) findings indicate that current nutrition education interventions in Myanmar CSVs are inadequate, and will need further improvement for better health and nutrition outcomes.Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research CentersâClimate Change, Agriculture; Food Security Program (CGIARâCCAFS
Recommender System for Movies using Content-based Filtering
Information filtering systems, whichrecommend appropriate information to users fromenormous amount of information, are becomingpopular. Recommender systems are programswhich attempt to predict items that a user may beinterest in and depends on information providedby the users to gather knowledge. Content âbasedfiltering systems are based on profile attributes. Incontent-based filtering, items are matched eitherto a userâs interest profile or query on the basis ofcontent. Content-based system does not use anypreference data and provides recommendationdirectly based on similarity of items.Contentbasedrecommendation systems may be used in avariety of domains ranging from recommendingweb pages, news articles, restaurants, televisionprograms, and items for sale. This system is animplementation of recommender system for moviesusing content-based filtering method.Rated moviesfrom IMDb are used in this system. And the usersmust register and fill the profile to getrecommendation because it calculatesrecommendation score depend on the user profile. This system recommends movies withrecommendation score to the user finally and isimplemented by using Microsoft SQL server andC# programming
Information Retrieval for Pharmacy using Location Based Mobile System
Advances in wireless technology increasethe number of mobile device users and give paceto the rapid development of e-commerce. In thistechnology, web services become very popularand used to communicate over the World WideWebâs HyperText Transfer Protocol. In this paper, alocation-based mobile system for Android devicesis proposed. The proposed system allows a user tofind the positioning of pharmacy where has thedrugs, he want to be purchased via a mobile. TheGeo-position of the userâs mobile device providesto produce location information of this proposedsystem. The flow of the proposed system is whenuser searches a medicine item, the systemidentifies the pharmacy location and searches theclosest local pharmacy using Haversine Formula. After that, to get the medicine items from eachlocal pharmacy with in stock information, theproposed system used Levenshtein Distance. TheLevenshtein Distance provides correct spellingwhen the user typed with wrong spelling. Then, thepharmacy location which the user wants to go andbuy can be viewed in the medicine item detailpage using Google Map. According to theexperimental results, the proposed system canachieve precise and minimum error in searchingprocess and provide listing result with thelocations of nearest pharmacy
Traumatic Brain Injury in Myanmar: Preliminary Results and Development of an Adjunct Electronic Medical Record
BACKGROUND: The treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in Myanmar is a major health issue. Comprehensive appreciation of the pathology is limited given the lack of granular metadata available. In this proof-of-concept study, we analyzed demographic data on TBI generated from a novel prospective, online database in a low-to-middle income country (LMIC).
METHODS: Neurosurgery residents were given an electronic tablet for data entry onto an online database. Metadata-driven data capture was carried prospectively by the trained residents and the information was reviewed weekly by the supervising team in the United States.
RESULTS: Complete data was available on 242/253 (96%) patients. Age at admission was 37 years (range 16-85) and length of stay was 3.53 days (1-21). Etiologies included motorcycle accidents, falls, assaults, pedestrian vehicular injuries and industrial accidents. Dispositions were primarily to home (211). Average Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) at admission was 12.97. There was a 68% mortality rate of patients directly admitted to NOGH with GCS75% for patients transferred in from other facilities. Surgery was performed on 30 patients (12.4%).
CONCLUSIONS: Despite a lack of formal training in electronic medical records or research, the resident team was able to capture the majority of admissions with granular-level data. This helped shed light on the etiology and severity of TBI in Myanmar. As a result, more effective transport systems and access to trauma care must be achieved. Accessible regional trauma centers with investment in intensive care units, operative care, anesthesia, and imaging resources is necessary
Chikungunya Virus Infection in Blood Donors and Patients During Outbreak, Mandalay, Myanmar, 2019
In 2019, an outbreak of chikungunya virus infection occurred in Mandalay, Myanmar, and 3.2% of blood donors and 20.5% of patients who were children were confirmed as being infected. The prevalence rate was up to 6.3% among blood donors. The East Central/ South African genotype was predominantly circulating during this outbreak
Whole-Genome Analysis of Influenza A(H3N2) and B/Victoria Viruses Detected in Myanmar during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2021
An influenza circulation was observed in Myanmar between October and November in 2021. Patients with symptoms of influenza-like illness were screened using rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits, and 147/414 (35.5%) upper respiratory tract specimens presented positive results. All RDT-positive samples were screened by a commercial multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay, and 30 samples positive for influenza A(H3N2) or B underwent further typing/subtyping for cycle threshold (Ct) value determination based on cycling probe RT-PCR. The majority of subtyped samples (n = 13) were influenza A(H3N2), while only three were B/Victoria. Clinical samples with low Ct values obtained by RT-PCR were used for whole-genome sequencing via next-generation sequencing technology. All collected viruses were distinct from the Southern Hemisphere vaccine strains of the corresponding season but matched with vaccines of the following season. Influenza A(H3N2) strains from Myanmar belonged to clade 2a.3 and shared the highest genetic proximity with Bahraini strains. B/Victoria viruses belonged to clade V1A.3a.2 and were genetically similar to Bangladeshi strains. This study highlights the importance of performing influenza virus surveillance with genetic characterization of the influenza virus in Myanmar, to contribute to global influenza surveillance during the COVID-19 pandemic
