Analysis of Rainfall and Temperature Variations in Myanmar (A Case Study of Magway, Pathein and Bago) (Phyo Wai,2024)
This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the rainfall and temperature
variations in Myanmar (i.e., Magway, Pathein and Bago). According to the Global
Climate Change Index, Myanmar has been identified as one of the country’s most
vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The weather data for the period 1994-2023
were obtained from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology in Myanmar. The
linear trend analysis indicated a general increase in temperature across Myanmar, with
the Magway station exhibiting the highest rise, showing an increase of 1.33°C in
maximum temperature and 2.23°C in minimum temperature from 1994 to 2023,
compared to other stations. The Mann-Kendall trend analysis revealed a decline in
annual rainfall across Myanmar. On the other hand, Sen’s Slope estimates confirmed
this downward trend, with rainfall decreases in Magway, Pathein and Bago. Overall,
the study concluded that the climate conditions in Magway are significantly more
detrimental to human livelihoods and agricultural activities compared to those in the
other two regions of Myanmar. This region experiences extreme temperature conditions
in both summer and winte

The Opportunities and Challenges of Logistics in Myanmar Red Cross Society ( Hla Myo Kyaw, 2024)
This study investigates the crucial role of logistics in humanitarian
organizations, focusing on the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS). As one of
Myanmar's oldest humanitarian institutions, MRCS has been integral in addressing
national crises, particularly in disaster management and public health. The study
assesses how logistics operations support the organization's efficiency and its ability
to meet the needs of vulnerable populations. The research employs a descriptive
analysis using both primary and secondary data. A survey was conducted among
MRCS staff, field officers, and volunteers to evaluate their perceptions of logistics
challenges, opportunities, and operational efficiency. Data was collected from 125
respondents, selected through random sampling, which includes directors, managers,
headquarters staff, and field workers. Key findings reveal that logistics functions such
as transportation, warehousing, and procurement are vital for timely aid delivery.
However, significant challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, funding
constraints, and technological limitations impede logistics performance. Despite these
hurdles, MRCS has demonstrated adaptability in crises by pre-positioning supplies,
ensuring effective fleet management, and fostering local partnerships to reach remote
areas. The thesis concludes with suggestions for improving MRCS's logistics
capacity, such as enhanced training, better coordination between departments, and
investment in modern technologies to streamline operations. These improvements are
critical to ensuring the continued success of MRCS’s humanitarian mission in
Myanmar
