Transonic wind tunnel tests of A.015 scale space shuttle orbiter model, volume 1
Transonic wind tunnel tests were run on a 0.015 scale model of the Space Shuttle Orbiter Vehicle in an eight-foot tunnel during August 1975. The purpose of the program was to obtain basic shuttle aerodynamic data through a full range of elevon and aileron deflections, verification of data obtained at other facilities, and effects of Reynolds numbers. The first part of a discussion of test procedures and results in both tabular and graphical form were presented. Tests were performed at Mach numbers from 0.35 to 1.20, and at Reynolds numbers for 3.5 million to 8.2 million per foot. The angle of attack was varied from -1 to +20 degrees at sideslip angles of -2, 0, +2 degrees. Sideslip was varied from -6 to +8 degrees at constant angles of attack from 0 to +20 degrees. Various aileron and ailevon settings were tested for various angles of attack

Active protection of native crayfish in the Kozienicka Primeval Forest
Objął on również Puszczę Kozienicką. Since the end of the nineteenth century, the populations of two native species of crayfish, noble crayfish Astacus astacus and narrow-clawed caryfish Astacus leptodactylus have started to decline drastically in fresh waters of Poland. The causes of this phenomenon are fresh waters degradation, environmental pollution from agriculture and industry, so as the spreading of alien species of crayfish and crayfish plaque. Thus, in 1999 the program of active protection of native crayfish started and covered, among others, the area of Kozienicka Primeval Forest. The existing populations of crayfish were searched and new habitats suitable for restocking were estimated. Experimental breeding of young crayfish for restocking program was undertaken in Department of Zoology in Warsaw Agricultural University. Starting from the year 1999, four populations of Astacus astacus in fresh waters of Kozienicka Primeval Forest were noticed. Although, three of them still exist. Moreover, the occurrence of American crayfish Orconectes limosus is also observed. In 2003 restocking of both native species in the selected waters of Kozienicka Primeval Forest started and is currently under monitoring
The rebuilding of outflow system in Pinczowski reservoir and it's optimal exploitation for reduction of alluviation processes
Zalew Pińczowski powstał podczas technicznej regulacji rzeki Nidy. Został
on oddany do użytku w roku 1973, a modernizowany w latach 80. Wykonany został
przekop skracający bieg rzeki, a dotychczasowe koryto biegnące w pobliżu
z 8-dniowym czasem zatrzymania wody. Projektowany czas jest krótszy i wynosi
5–6 dni, a zalecany czas zatrzymania, określony w niniejszym artykule na podstawie
analizy szeregu parametrów morfologicznych, biologicznych i chemizmu
wód, nie powinien przekroczyć 2–3 dni. Przepust wody do odprowadzalnika posiada
eksploatowany. Z tego powodu w chwili obecnej w zalewie występuje wiele niepożądanych
procesów powodujących powolną degradację zbiornika. W związku
w tym zaproponowano wykonanie rurociągu, prowadzącego wodę wprost do Nidy,
zwiększającego przepływ wody przez zbiornik do ilości optymalnej. Zaproponowano
również pogłębienie zbiornika z uwzględnieniem ochrony istniejących
tam chronionych gatunków małży.In the 70-ties and 80-ties the river training was done in the Nida River.
The river itself near Pińczów was shortened and the new channel was created.
After the old channel near MOSiR recreational center was widened and deepened,
the pińczowski reservoir was build in 1973 and then modernized in 80-ties.
On east-southern in the place where in the past was a bridge in Nida River there is
a district road running. At present the outflow culvert is localized there from
which the water passes to the trapezoidal channel and then to the old channel. Finally
the part of the water goes on the wetlands and the rest, below Pińczów, back
to the Nida River. The length of the outflow channel is in total about 1.3 km, and
the slope varies from 0.16 to 0.37 promiles. The water flows to the reservoir from
the river by the side intake and stays there in average of 8 days. The projected retention
period is about 5-6 days, and the time estimated on basis of current measurements
of morphological, biological and water quality parameters should not
exceed 2-3 days. Presently it is not possible because the outflow culvert was done
without according to the engineering design and it's maximum discharge is about
quoter of the designed one. This cause that the pińczowski reservoir exploitation
cannot be well performed and many disadvantageous processes can be found in
the inflow channel as well as in the reservoir itself. The silting processes and the
afforestation cause the slow but contiguous degradation of the reservoir. As a solution
the spillway with the pipeline is proposed to pass the overdischarge water
directly to the Nida River. Additionally the deepening of the reservoir is proposed
but with the care of the preservation of the mollusc's population
Consequences of the spring flood in year 2006 on the regulated part of middle delta in the Nida river
Rzeka Nida przepływa przez południową cześć Polski, obejmując
swym zasięgiem głównie województwo świętokrzyskie. Nida, jako najdłuższa
rzeka województwa licząca 151,2 km, odwadnia południową
część Gór Świętokrzyskich i środkowo-północną część Niecki Nidziańskiej.
W przeważającej części jest nieuregulowaną rzeką nizinną o średnim
spadku 0,65 promila.
Obszar Doliny Nidy pomiędzy przekrojami Stara Wieś i Pińczów
został mocno przekształcony przez człowieka. Poza pełną regulacją rzeki
na odcinku Stara Wieś–Motkowice i częściową Motkowice–Pińczów,
w opisanym rejonie wykonano również prace melioracyjne. Rzeka Nida
Powoduje to silne obciążenie konstrukcji obwałowań.
i hydrauliczne (przekroje poprzeczne koryta Nidy, przekroje
dolinowe oraz pomiary tachimetryczne, pomiary prędkości wody i spadku,
pomiary granulometryczne i transportu rumowiska). Po powodzi
wiosennej w roku 2006 wykonano pomiary geodezyjne, pomiary prędkości
wody i spadku zwierciadła wody w rejonie zniszczeń na obszarze
pomiędzy Starą Wsią a Motkowicami. Wykonano również pomiary
tachimetryczne w rejonie Delty i wizję lokalną po powodzi w rejonie
niepoddanym regulacji; poniżej Pińczowa (okolice Krzyżanowic). W artykule
przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów dwóch rozmyć wału przeciwpowodziowego.
Pierwsze powstało w odległości 76+840, a drugie – 76+640;
Wodnej AR w Krakowie. The Nida River flows trough the southern part of Poland. The basin of this
river is localized mainly in Swietokrzyskie province. It is a longest river in this province
(151.2 km) flowing in it's upper part trough the southern part of the Swietokrzyskie
Mountains. In most part Nida is a not regulated lowland river, characterized
by the slope of about 0.65 promiles. The Nida River valley between cross-sections Stara Wies and Pinczow had been
strongly transtormed. Between villages Stara Wies and Motkowice, the typical river
training had been done. The river also was partially trainned on the distance between
Motkowice and Pińczów as well as in the short distance below Pinczow. The
Nida River embankments are localized in the middle part so a big part of the river
valley cannot be used as a small retenition. These narrowly distributed fortiffications
are in a weak condition, what causes that spring flood waves which often reach the
top of the embankments can easily destroy the embankments and flush onto the valley
some of their parts together with the sandy substratum from below. The water
flowing trough the destroyed part of the embankment transports the high volume of
sand from the riverbed which, after the pass of floody flow, deposites on the river
valley. Also the water cannot easily go back to the river channel. Both of those phenomenons
are disadvantageous because of the landuse of this area as a feeding
grounds and meadows. For improving of the current state, the renaturalization works
are proposed.
In the area of middle delta the long term measurements in situ and field reconaissance
have been performed since 2003 by the scientists of the Department of
Water Engineering, AU Krakow (bathymetry in river channel and in the river valley,
flow velocity measurements and bedload characterization). After the flood in 2006 the
main attention was focused on the region where damages of embankments were
found. There were two damages between Stara Wies and Motkowice. First of them
was localized in cross-section 76+840, and the second in cross-section 76+640, about
500 meters upstream from the bridge in Motkowice.
The main goal of this paper is to present the current use of the embankments
of the Nida River in on th esection km 78+300 – km 76+200 after the 2006 spring
flood. Also the prognosis of the flood risk as well as the results of the flooding after
the renaturalization works is presented. The land use of the presented area was
compaired to the other parts of the middle delta and to cross-sections localized
downstream

Perccottus glenii in oxbow lakes of the vistula river in the Mazovian Lowland in Poland and Wetland in Belarus (Near Drohiczyn)
The aim of the study was to record the occurrence several populations of Perccottus glenii from small drainage canals in wetland in Belarus (near Drohiczyn) and small Vistula oxbow lakes in Mazovia (Poland). Probably, populations of Perccottus glenii can eliminate larval and juvenile forms of local amphibians
