Global pointwise decay estimates for defocusing radial nonlinear wave equations
We prove global pointwise decay estimates for a class of defocusing
semilinear wave equations in dimensions restricted to spherical symmetry.
The technique is based on a conformal transformation and a suitable choice of
the mapping adjusted to the nonlinearity. As a result we obtain a pointwise
bound on the solutions for arbitrarily large Cauchy data, provided the
solutions exist globally. The decay rates are identical with those for small
data and hence seem to be optimal. A generalization beyond the spherical

concentration-compactness behavior and show that if the sequence is not

We report collision cross sections (CCS) of high-mannose N-glycans as [M + Na]+, [M + K]+, [M + H]+, [M + Cl]-, [M + H2PO4]- and [M − H]- ions, measured by drift tube (DT) ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) in helium and nitrogen gases. THE AMOUNT AND SPECIATION OF TRACE ELEMENTS TRANSPORTED FROM RICE FIELD TO CANAL DURING A FLOODING EVENT
Trace element pollution of soils, sediments and surface water can pose a risk for the local population and the environment of Vietnam. Rice fields can be affected by storm events, which cause the release of trace elements into surface water and transport them into drinking wells. The aim of this study was to investigate if dissolved and suspended As, Pb and Zn concentrations in surface water of a paddy rice fields and an irrigation canals increased during a flooding event and exceed the Vietnamese Surface Water Quality Standards and WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality. The study site is a rice field area in the Thanh Hoa province in Central Vietnam, which experiences an average of 2.4 storms every year causing overflow of streams and low-order canals. Concentrations of As increased during the flooding event with dissolved As being the prevailing fraction, which followed a late flush behavior. Lead showed no significant difference in concentration over time. Zn concentrations only increased significantly in the canal upstream the field in the morning of the first day. Suspended Zn dominated at that time, following the first flush behavior of TSS concentrations. Concentrations of As, Pb and Zn did not exceed the Vietnamese Surface Water Quality Standards or WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality at any time and they are therefore of no concern for the health of the local populatio
Renormalization and blow up for charge one equivariant critical wave maps
We prove the existence of equivariant finite time blow up solutions for the
wave map problem from 2+1 dimensions into the 2-sphere. These solutions are the
sum of a dynamically rescaled ground-state harmonic map plus a radiation term.
The local energy of the latter tends to zero as time approaches blow up time.
This is accomplished by first "renormalizing" the rescaled ground state
harmonic map profile by solving an elliptic equation, followed by a
perturbative analysis
Separation of isomeric glycans by ion mobility spectrometry–the impact of fluorescent labelling
The analysis of complex oligosaccharides is traditionally based on multidimensional workflows where liquid chromatography is coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Due to the presence of multiple isomers, which cannot be distinguished easily using tandem MS, a detailed structural elucidation is still challenging in many cases. Recently, ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) showed great potential as an additional structural parameter in glycan analysis. While the time-scale of the IMS separation is fully compatible to that of LC-MS-based workflows, there are very few reports in which both techniques have been directly coupled for glycan analysis. As a result, there is little knowledge on how the derivatization with fluorescent labels as common in glycan LC-MS affects the mobility and, as a result, the selectivity of IMS separations. Here, we address this problem by systematically analyzing six isomeric glycans derivatized with the most common fluorescent tags using ion mobility spectrometry. We report >150 collision cross-sections (CCS) acquired in positive and negative ion mode and compare the quality of the separation for each derivatization strategy. Our results show that isomer separation strongly depends on the chosen label, as well as on the type of adduct ion.
