Bit error rate testing of a proof-of-concept model baseband processor

    Get PDF
Bit-error-rate tests were performed on a proof-of-concept baseband processor. The BBP, which operates at an intermediate frequency in the C-Band, demodulates, demultiplexes, routes, remultiplexes, and remodulates digital message segments received from one ground station for retransmission to another. Test methods are discussed and test results are compared with the Contractor's test results

A Graphic Representation of the Minnesota Dakota Diaspora

By the early 1800s, the Sioux of the upper Great Plains had divided into three main sub-divisions: the Dakota, the Nakota, and the Lakota. The Dakota occupied most of the territory now known as the state of Minnesota. Throughout the 1800s, they were slowly deprived of much of that territory. By the end of the 1800s, they had not only lost most of their land, they had lost the legal right to live in Minnesota. This manuscript presents a graphic representation of that diaspora

AN ADDITIONAL RECORD OF THE ORNATE BOX TURTLE FROM WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA

On 11 June 2003, one of us (EJS) found an ornate box turtle crossing BIA Highway 2, approximately 7.2 km north of Sharps Comer on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Shannon County, South Dakota. The air temperature at the time of collection was approximately 30°C, and the substrate was moist from light rain the previous day. The turtle was an adult female with a straight-line carapace length of 118 mm. Other straight-line measurements were: maximum carapace width = 100 mm; plastron length = 122 mm; maximum plastron width = 82 mm; and maximum shell depth = 64 mm. We deposited voucher photographs (CUSC 2166) of the turtle in the Campbell Museum, Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. Our specimen constitutes the first record of the ornate box turtle from Shannon County, and represents the westernmost occurrence of this species yet documented in South Dakota (Ballinger et al. 2000)

    Transferring the Family Farm

Family transfer decisions and procedures are often difficult and stressful. What is “fair and equitable” from one person’s perspective can be “unfair and inequitable” from someone else’s perspective. The farm is perhaps the most difficult of all family resources to pass down. After all, it represents both an economic enterprise and a way of living. The challenges can only be addressed if various aspects of the transfer process are carefully considered

Association between tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and survival in patients with metastatic breast cancer receiving first-line chemotherapy: Analysis of CALGB 40502

    Get PDF
Association of stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (sTILs) with survival outcomes among patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remains unclear. The primary objective was to evaluate the association of sTILs with progression-free survival in randomized phase III trial CALGB 40502. sTILs were associated with progression-free and overall survival in chemotherapy-treated MBC when controlling for treatment arm; however, this effect did not remain significant after additional adjustment for hormone receptor status. CALGB is now part of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT00785291
