Crossover of Organizational Commitment
Spousal commitment toward an employee\u27s organization is a little-studied construct that deserves attention because his or her spouse may influence the employee\u27s assessments of organizational commitment and turnover intentions. Using 186 couples, this study investigated spousal influence on U.S. military membersâ organizational commitment and their decisions to reenlist. Results of a structural equation model analysis indicate that indirect mechanisms of crossover (e.g., positive emotions displayed by the spouse during discussions of reenlistment) facilitated the positive relationships between the organizational commitment of military spouses and members. Findings and discussion contribute to the fields of organizational commitment and crossover, and we conclude our analysis by offering practical implications for nonmilitary occupations
Stellar Parameters for HD 69830, a Nearby Star with Three Neptune Mass Planets and an Asteroid Belt
We used the CHARA Array to directly measure the angular diameter of HD 69830,
home to three Neptune mass planets and an asteroid belt. Our measurement of
0.674+/-0.014 milli-arcseconds for the limb-darkened angular diameter of this
star leads to a physical radius of R = 0.90580.0190 R\sun and
luminosity of L* = 0.622+/-0.014 Lsun when combined with a fit to the spectral
energy distribution of the star. Placing these observed values on an
Hertzsprung-Russel (HR) diagram along with stellar evolution isochrones
produces an age of 10.6+/-4 Gyr and mass of 0.8630.043 M\sun. We use
archival optical echelle spectra of HD 69830 along with an iterative spectral
fitting technique to measure the iron abundance ([Fe/H]=-0.04+/-0.03),
effective temperature (5385+/-44 K) and surface gravity (log g = 4.49+/-0.06).
We use these new values for the temperature and luminosity to calculate a more
precise age of 7.5+/-Gyr. Applying the values of stellar luminosity and radius
to recent models on the optimistic location of the habitable zone produces a
range of 0.61-1.44 AU; partially outside the orbit of the furthest known planet
(d) around HD 69830. Finally, we estimate the snow line at a distance of
1.95+/-0.19 AU, which is outside the orbit of all three planets and its

Human Female Genital Tract Infection by the Obligate Intracellular Bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis Elicits Robust Type 2 Immunity
While Chlamydia trachomatis infections are frequently asymptomatic, mechanisms that regulate host response to this intracellular Gram-negative bacterium remain undefined. This investigation thus used peripheral blood mononuclear cells and endometrial tissue from women with or without Chlamydia genital tract infection to better define this response. Initial genome-wide microarray analysis revealed highly elevated expression of matrix metalloproteinase 10 and other molecules characteristic of Type 2 immunity (e.g., fibrosis and wound repair) in Chlamydia-infected tissue. This result was corroborated in flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry studies that showed extant upper genital tract Chlamydia infection was associated with increased co-expression of CD200 receptor and CD206 (markers of alternative macrophage activation) by endometrial macrophages as well as increased expression of GATA-3 (the transcription factor regulating TH2 differentiation) by endometrial CD4+ T cells. Also among women with genital tract Chlamydia infection, peripheral CD3+ CD4+ and CD3+ CD4- cells that proliferated in response to ex vivo stimulation with inactivated chlamydial antigen secreted significantly more interleukin (IL)-4 than tumor necrosis factor, interferon-γ, or IL-17; findings that repeated in T cells isolated from these same women 1 and 4 months after infection had been eradicated. Our results thus newly reveal that genital infection by an obligate intracellular bacterium induces polarization towards Type 2 immunity, including Chlamydia-specific TH2 development. Based on these findings, we now speculate that Type 2 immunity was selected by evolution as the host response to C. trachomatis in the human female genital tract to control infection and minimize immunopathological damage to vital reproductive structures. © 2013 Vicetti Miguel et al
Refining the Stellar Parameters of Ceti: a Pole-on Solar Analog
To accurately characterize the planets a star may be hosting, stellar
parameters must first be well-determined. Ceti is a nearby solar analog
and often a target for exoplanet searches. Uncertainties in the observed
rotational velocities have made constraining Ceti's inclination
difficult. For planet candidates from radial velocity (RV) observations, this
leads to substantial uncertainties in the planetary masses, as only the minimum
mass () can be constrained with RV. In this paper, we used new
long-baseline optical interferometric data from the CHARA Array with the MIRC-X
beam combiner and extreme precision spectroscopic data from the Lowell
Discovery Telescope with EXPRES to improve constraints on the stellar
parameters of Ceti. Additional archival data were obtained from a
Tennessee State University Automatic Photometric Telescope and the Mount Wilson
Observatory HK project. These new and archival data sets led to improved
stellar parameter determinations, including a limb-darkened angular diameter of
mas and rotation period of days. By combining
parameters from our data sets, we obtained an estimate for the stellar
inclination of . This nearly-pole-on orientation has implications
for the previously-reported exoplanets. An analysis of the system dynamics
suggests that the planetary architecture described by Feng et al. (2017) may
not retain long-term stability for low orbital inclinations. Additionally, the
inclination of Ceti reveals a misalignment between the inclinations of
the stellar rotation axis and the previously-measured debris disk rotation axis

An interpretative phenomenological analysis of posttraumatic growth in adults bereaved by suicide
This study explored experiences of posttraumatic growth in adults bereaved by suicide. Six participants were interviewed using a semi-structured interview schedule. Transcribed interviews were analyzed from an interpretative phenomenological framework. Two superordinate themes, with three ordinate themes in each, were identified: (a) positive growth (âlife view,â âknowledge of self,â and ârelation to othersâ) and (b) social context (âgaze of others,â âpublic guise,â and âsolace of other survivorsâ). Suicide survivors gain extra insights due to their experiences, but are reluctant to acknowledge that they do. This requires consideration in theoretical and clinical setting
X-ray absorption spectroscopy systematics at the tungsten L-edge
A series of mononuclear six-coordinate tungsten compounds spanning formal oxidation states from 0 to +VI, largely in a ligand environment of inert chloride and/or phosphine, has been interrogated by tungsten L-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The L-edge spectra of this compound set, comprised of [W<sup>0</sup>(PMe<sub>3</sub>)<sub>6</sub>], [W<sup>II</sup>Cl<sub>2</sub>(PMePh<sub>2</sub>)<sub>4</sub>], [W<sup>III</sup>Cl<sub>2</sub>(dppe)<sub>2</sub>][PF<sub>6</sub>] (dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane), [W<sup>IV</sup>Cl<sub>4</sub>(PMePh<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub>], [W<sup>V</sup>(NPh)Cl<sub>3</sub>(PMe<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub>], and [W<sup>VI</sup>Cl<sub>6</sub>] correlate with formal oxidation state and have usefulness as references for the interpretation of the L-edge spectra of tungsten compounds with redox-active ligands and ambiguous electronic structure descriptions. The utility of these spectra arises from the combined correlation of the estimated branching ratio (EBR) of the L<sub>3,2</sub>-edges and the L<sub>1</sub> rising-edge energy with metal Z<sub>eff</sub>, thereby permitting an assessment of effective metal oxidation state. An application of these reference spectra is illustrated by their use as backdrop for the L-edge X-ray absorption spectra of [W<sup>IV</sup>(mdt)<sub>2</sub>(CO)<sub>2</sub>] and [W<sup>IV</sup>(mdt)<sub>2</sub>(CN)<sub>2</sub>]<sup>2â</sup> (mdt<sup>2â</sup> = 1,2-dimethylethene-1,2-dithiolate), which shows that both compounds are effectively W<sup>IV</sup> species. Use of metal L-edge XAS to assess a compound of uncertain formulation requires: 1) Placement of that data within the context of spectra offered by unambiguous calibrant compounds, preferably with the same coordination number and similar metal ligand distances. Such spectra assist in defining upper and/or lower limits for metal Z<sub>eff</sub> in the species of interest; 2) Evaluation of that data in conjunction with information from other physical methods, especially ligand K-edge XAS; 3) Increased care in interpretation if strong Ï-acceptor ligands, particularly CO, or Ï-donor ligands are present. The electron-withdrawing/donating nature of these ligand types, combined with relatively short metal-ligand distances, exaggerate the difference between formal oxidation state and metal Z<sub>eff</sub> or, as in the case of [W<sup>IV</sup>(mdt)<sub>2</sub>(CO)<sub>2</sub>], add other subtlety by modulating the redox level of other ligands in the coordination sphere
Follow-up after radiological intervention in oncology: ECIO-ESOI evidence and consensus-based recommendations for clinical practice
Interventional radiology plays an important and increasing role in cancer treatment. Follow-up is important to be able
to assess treatment success and detect locoregional and distant recurrence and recommendations for follow-up are
needed. At ECIO 2018, a joint ECIO-ESOI session was organized to establish follow-up recommendations for oncologic
intervention in liver, renal, and lung cancer. Treatments included thermal ablation, TACE, and TARE. In total five topics
were evaluated: ablation in colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), TARE in CRLM, TACE and TARE in HCC, ablation in renal
cancer, and ablation in lung cancer. Evaluated modalities were FDG-PET-CT, CT, MRI, and (contrast-enhanced)
ultrasound. Prior to the session, five experts were selected and performed a systematic review and presented
statements, which were voted on in a telephone conference prior to the meeting by all panelists. These statements
were presented and discussed at the ECIO-ESOI session at ECIO 2018. This paper presents the recommendations that
followed from these initiatives. Based on expert opinions and the available evidence, follow-up schedules were
proposed for liver cancer, renal cancer, and lung cancer. FDG-PET-CT, CT, and MRI are the recommended modalities,
but one should beware of false-positive signs of residual tumor or recurrence due to inflammation early after the
intervention. There is a need for prospective preferably multicenter studies to validate new techniques and new
response criteria. This paper presents recommendations that can be used in clinical practice to perform the follow-up
of patients with liver, lung, and renal cancer who were treated with interventional locoregional therapies
