Advising 101 for the Growing Field of Social Media Influencers

    Get PDF
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) protects consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices. In 2019, the FTC released the “Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers Guide” (herein referred to as the “2019 Influencer Guide”). The 2019 Influencer Guide outlines advertisers’ and endorsers’ specific responsibilities relating to the advertising and marketing of products on social media platforms. Despite the extensive information provided within the 2019 Influencer Guide, there is still great confusion regarding endorsement disclosure requirements, and many brands and influencers are not in compliance with FTC recommendations. This Comment provides guidance to brands and social media influencers on how to properly disclose brand endorsements in compliance with the FTC’s developing guidelines and avoid enforcement action

“You Came to Not Normal Land”: Nurses\u27 Experience of the Environment of Disaster: A Phenomenological Investigation

Previous research suggests US nurses are unprepared for disaster, and suffer from adverse psychosocial outcomes following their disaster response. Current disaster preparedness focuses on providing hospital-centric trauma and acute care in fully resourced Western conditions, and does not include the environmental realities of the disaster setting. This study utilized an existential phenomenological approach to explore the meaning of the nurse’s experience of the disaster environment. Eleven nurses with broad disaster expertise and training levels participated in this research. The essence of their disaster experiences can be summed up by the central theme of “You came to not normal land.” Four global themes that describe this “not normal land” were “All the resources was gone”; “You prepare, you prepare, and you are unprepared”; “It can be done; it’s just different”; and “Stuff that sticks with you.” The environment of disaster was both “not normal” and challenging owing to the many simultaneous breakdowns in healthcare supportive systems. Nurses were surprised and unprepared for the environmental conditions surrounding them. Reductions in systems (i.e. water, power), structures, staff, and supplies were coupled with lack of familiarity with alternative care sites, unaccustomed patient populations, the prevailing need for public health and fundamental nursing, and the isolated nature of disaster environments. Policies and regulations that “normally” guide nurses’ actions were disregarded in the immediacy of providing care when the usual social framework no longer existed. Nurses continue to relive the disaster setting’s sights, sounds, smells, and stories of the people they encountered. A strong sense of pride, duty, and willingness to respond again prevailed in these nurses. Nurses can be prepared for the likely conditions of reduced resources and damaged infrastructure following disaster by including the contextual setting of disaster nursing in disaster education, practice, training, and policy. Suggestions for further research include determining the relevance of current disaster training to the nurses’ actual disaster experience; determining what non-clinical knowledge or skills or training disaster nurses think would be useful; and identifying and measuring the contribution of environmental factors to disaster nurses’ stress

Untuk menhetahui seberapa baik kinerja jaringan pada kampus I ITN Malang perlu dilakukan analisa performa jaringan dengan parameter QOS (Quality Of Service) seperti Bandwidth, Delay serta Packet Loss apakah seudah memenuhi standart TIPHON (Telecomunication and Internet Protocol Harmonizer Over Network) . Setelah dilakukan analisis performa jaringan pada kampus ITN Malang menggunakan parameter Qos dengan standart TIPHON tidak ditemukan pada parameter Delay dan Packter loss tetapi pada bandwidth masih mengalami masalah. Kata kunci − Quality Of Servise, Bandwidth, Delay, Packet Loss, TIPHON. NETWORK PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS ON CAMPUS I ITN MALANG USING ACTION RESEARCH METHOD Irvan Stasia Tafui Yudi Limpraptono Sotyohadi [email protected] ABSTRACK The development of technology today makes many people who depend on the internet network in search of information and in the field of teaching and learning the need for internet networks is now a basic daily need. To find out how well the performance of the network on campus I ITN Malang, it is necessary to analyze the network performance using QOS (Quality Of Service) parameters such as Bandwidth, Delay and Packet Loss whether it meets TIPHON (Telecomunication and Internet Protocol Harmonizer Over Network) standards. After analyzing the network performance at ITN Malang campus using Qos parameters with the TIPHON standard not found in the Delay and Packet loss parameters but the bandwidth is still experiencing problems. Acting around in young offender rehabilitation: investigating how psychological theory fused with drama techniques can create a model (the VÂČ model) for reducing crime when working with young offenders within the community

Background. The rehabilitation of young offenders remains an important objective and presents increasing demands upon the criminal justice system. Creative methods have previously been seen as an add-on approach to offender behaviour programmes, often viewed as merely a means of increasing engagement and attendance. The main focus of this thesis explored how the arts, in particular drama, can positively contribute to the process of reducing reoffending behaviour and reoffending rates with male young offenders serving community sentences. Methods. The sample included in this thesis consisted of 72 male young offenders aged 10-18 years of age (mean age 15 years, SD = 1.66), referred by Birmingham Youth Offending Service over a period of 18 months, to the Recre8 company, which used the V2 method of drama based intervention. Data was gathered over three intervals: pre-intervention; post intervention; and at three months follow-up. The three main aims of the investigation were; (i) to see if the psychology based drama interventions could ensure offender engagement and attendance; (ii) to examine the effectiveness of the V2 model in relation to reducing or eliminating recidivism; and (iii) to explore what impact the V2 model had on the development of self-esteem, confidence and personal and social development of the young offender participants. The CRIME PICS II questionnaire was used to collect data about participants. Qualitative semi-structured interviews were undertaken with a sample of 10 offenders, asking them for their views on the V2 intervention programme at the three months follow-up stage. Results. A completion rate of 91.5% was demonstrated by offenders who took part in all of their sessions on the V2 programmes. There was shown to be a significant (P<0.001) reduction in those classed as medium risk offenders at pre-intervention (60%) to low risk by three months follow-up (25%). A corresponding increase was observed in those classed as low risk at pre-intervention (40%) by the three months follow-up (75%). A repeated measures ANOVA was conducted on the preintervention post-intervention and follow-up scores on all five sub-scales of the CRIME PICS II questionnaires as well as Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale. Results showed significant positive improvements from preintervention to three months follow-up in all six measures (general attitude towards offending (G) p <.001; anticipation of reoffending (A) p <.001; victim hurt denial (V) p = .004; evaluation of crime as worthwhile (E) p <.001; perception of current life problems (P) p <.001 and Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale p = .054). The semi-structured interviews identified three main themes: ‘Programme distinctiveness’; ‘Going above and beyond’; and ‘Change: “offending itself is stupid”’. Subthemes were identified for each of these and are discussed and explored further within the thesis. Conclusion. This thesis bridges the research gap in the areas of rehabilitating young male offenders, by utilising a mixed methods approach, highlighting the benefits of drama interventions, and in particular with low and medium risk offenders, producing a scientific framework to measure the impact of behavioural change with in a creative intervention. This research thesis contributes towards the literature around the arts and rehabilitation models for young male offenders
