Synthesis and Bioassay of Azolyl Benzothiazine Carboxamides

Cyclic sulfonamides (sultams) gained importance due to their potential pharmaceutical activity. Amongst these, 1,2-benzothiazine-1,1-dioxide and their derivatives represent the most familiar class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) available in the market. In fact, Meloxicam and Piroxicam, the members of oxicam family are used as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs. Azoles are potential chemical entities with a wide range of pharmacological activities such as anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and antiparasitic. In continuation of our efforts to develop potential multifunctional heterocycles, we have synthesized novel azolylbenzothiazine carboxamides and studied their cytotoxic and antioxidant activities. The results of these aspects will be discussed. © 2020 Author(s).The authors Venkatapuram Padmavathi and Panga Siva Sankar are grateful to CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), New Delhi for financial assistance under the major research project

A Location Based Value Prediction for Quality of Web Service

The number of web services with functionality increases, the service users usually depends on web recommendation systems. Now a days the service users pay more importance on non functional properties which are also known as Quality of Service (QoS) while finding and selecting appropriate web services. Collaborative filtering approach predicts the QoS values of the web services effectively. Existing recommendation systems rarely consider the personalized influence of the users and services in determining the similarity between users and services. The proposed system is a ranking oriented hybrid approach which integrates user-based and item-based QoS predictions. Many of the non-functional properties depends on the user and the service location. The system thus employs the location information of users and services in selecting similar neighbors for the target user and service and thereby making personalized service recommendation for service users

Tabernaemontana divaricata is a common shrub found in the tropical regions and is often used for medicinal purposes, particularly the flowers of the plant. The present study is conducted to compare and identify the phytochemical constituents by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Qualitative Phytochemical analysis and to determine the anthelmentic activity of fresh and dried flower extract of Tabernaemontana divaricata. The extract is obtained using two different methods like cold maceration and hot solvent extraction by using soxhlet apparatus, first with petroleum ether followed by hydroalcohol as solvents. The preliminary phytochemical analysis of the extract indicated the presence of Alkaloids, Flavanoids, Steroids, Proteins, Carbohydrates and Tannins. The Rf value of TLC is calculated and compared with standard values and analysis proved the presence of the phytochemical constituents. The anthelmentic activity studies are performed using Indian earth worms. For this, the concentrated extract is diluted to various concentrations, and the effect of each solution is studied by measuring the time taken for paralysis and death of the earth worms. It is found to show significant anthelmentic activity at various concentrations compared with that of the standard drug Metronidazole

Structural, Morphological and 1/f noise Properties of ITO/TiO2 thin Films by e-beam Evaporation System for Optoelectronic Device Applications

In the present research study, ITO/TiO2 thin films were prepared on a glass substrate by using an electron beam (e-beam) evaporation system at different annealing temperatures (300, 350, 400 and 450 °C). The amorphous and crystalline natures of ITO/TiO2 structure were analyzed by X-ray diffraction study. As the grain size becomes larger, indirectly it will develop the crystalline quality of the TiO2 films studied from AFM. The surface of TiO2 films and the crystalline size of the sample were increased gradually with respect to a temperature that is observed in SEM. The elemental composition determined by the energy dispersive analysis of EDAX showed that TiO2 thin films were highly stoichiometric. Further, the higher optical transmittance (93%) was obtained with 450 °C annealed ITO/TiO2 film. The optical band gap increased along with annealing temperatures (300, 350, 400 and 450 °C). All the above results of this present work can be utilized for solar cell and optoelectronic device applications. © 2020 Author(s)

    Bis(azolyl)sulfonamidoacetamides: Synthesis and Bioassay

Azole derivatives are valuable precursors in pharmacological arena. In fact, oxazole, thiazole and imidazole containing scaffolds display a variety of biological activities such as antitumor,1 antibacterial,2 antiviral,3 antioxidant,4,5 anti-inflammatory6 and antifungal7 activities. Azoles are also prominant molecules in various biochemical and synthetic transformations. Based on the importance of these heteroaromatics and also our interest to link the heterocycle molecules with a variety of functional groups we have synthesized a new class of bis(azolyl)sulfonamide acetamides from azolylsulfonylamines and azolylchloroacetamides in the presence of DMAP under ultrasonication and studied their antimicrobial activity. The compounds chloro substituted bis(thiazoles) (6c) and chloro substituted imidazolyl thiazoles (7c) displayed excellent antibacterial activity against B. subtilis greater than the standard drug, Chloramphenicol. Whereas 7c also showed excellent antifungal activity on A. niger higher than the standard drug, Ketoconazole. © 2022 Author(s).The authors are grateful to CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), New Delhi for financial assistance under major research project

Job CPU Performance comparison based on MINIAOD reading options: Local versus remote

    Get PDF
A critical challenge of performing data transfers or remote reads is to be as fast and efficient as possible while, at the same time, keeping the usage of system resources as low as possible. Ideally, the software that manages these data transfers should be able to organize them so that one can have them run up to the hardware limits. Significant portions of LHC analysis use the same datasets, running over each file or dataset multiple times. By utilizing "ondemand" based regional caches, we can improve CPU Efficiency and reduce the wide area network usage. Speeding up user analysis and reducing network usage (and hiding latency from jobs by caching most essential files on demand) are significant challenges for HL-LHC, where the data volume increases to an exabyte level. In this paper, we will describe our journey and tests with the CMS XCache project (SoCal Cache), which will compare job performance and CPU efficiency using different storage solutions (Hadoop, Ceph, Local Disk, Named Data Networking). It will also provide insights into our tests over a wide area network and possible storage and network usage savings

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Bis(Azolyl) Urea Derivatives

A variety of bis(azolyl) urea derivatives were prepared by the reaction of methyl benzazoyl carbamates with azolyl amines in the presence of mild base and studied their antimicrobial activity. The presence of electron donating substituents on the aromatic ring enhanced the activity. Methoxy substituted benzothiazolyl thiazolyl urea, benzothiazolyl imidazolyl urea and benzimidazolyl thiazolyl urea displayed prominent antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis. Benzothiazolyl imidazolyl urea and methyl substituted benzimidazolyl imidazolyl urea showed good antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger. © 2019 Author(s)
