Specjacja zelaza w osadach dennych jezior lobeliowych

Zdecydowana ilość pierwiastka (79,60 do 92,61%) występowała w połączeniach trudno rozpuszczalnych a najmniejsza we frakcjach łatwo rozpuszczalnych (Fr. Paper presents the results of investigations referring to the total content and speciation of iron in bottom sediment samples collected from the lobelia lakes. The sequential extraction method according to Tessier was applied to determine speciation forms. It was found that total content of iron in the samples of sediments varied from 15.74 to 38.15 g·kg⁻¹. Moreover, the highest amount of iron (from 79.6 to 92.6% of total iron content) was determined in combinations of low solubility. At the same time the lowest content of metal was bound to easily soluble fractions (from 2.47 to 11.20% of total iron content). Taking into account the amounts of metal occurring in mentioned fractions, the iron under natural conditions probably cannot be released to bulk water

Image based analysis of complex microstructures of engineering materials

    No full text
The paper presents various methods for quantitative description of material structures. The main focus is on direct methods of description based on image analysis. In particular, techniques for the estimation of the size, shape and spatial distribution of structural elements observed by different microscopic techniques are described. The application of these methods for the characterization of the structures of engineering materials is demonstrated on a stainless steel used in petrochemical installations. It is shown that the methods applied are useful for the assessment of service degradation of materials

Modeling and optimization of parallelized immunomagnetic nanopore sorting for surface marker specific isolation of extracellular vesicles from complex media

Abstract The isolation of specific subpopulations of extracellular vesicles (EVs) based on their expression of surface markers poses a significant challenge due to their nanoscale size ( 10× relative to prior published designs without sacrificing recovery of the target EVs by selecting pore diameter, number of membranes placed in series, and flow rate. We compare TENPO-isolated EVs to those of gold-standard methods of EV isolation and demonstrate its utility for wide application and modularity by targeting subpopulations of EVs from multiple models of disease including lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer

Were we erring? The impact of worry and arousal on error‐related negativity in a non‐clinical sample

The monitoring of one's own actions allows humans to adjust to a changing and complex world. Previous neuroscientific research found overactive action monitoring and increased sensitivity to errors to be associated with anxiety and it is assumed to contribute to the development and maintenance of anxiety symptoms. A largely shared decomposition of anxiety differentiates two dimensions: anxious apprehension (i.e., worry) and anxious arousal (i.e., physiological hyperarousal). Alterations in neural correlates of error monitoring have been more closely linked to anxious apprehension compared to anxious arousal. This study examined the relationship between anxiety dimensions and electrophysiological correlates of action monitoring (i.e., error-related negativity, ERN, and correct-response negativity, CRN). A total of 135 non-clinical participants performed a flanker task while their electroencephalogram was recorded. We recruited participants with converging and diverging anxiety dimension profiles (i.e., above or below median in anxious apprehension and anxious arousal or above median in one and below in the other dimension). This grouping strategy facilitates disentangling possible interactions and allows the investigation of the isolated effect of each anxiety dimension. Regression analyses did not reveal a significant main or interaction effect of anxiety dimensions on ERN or CRN, irrespective of gender. In addition, Bayesian statistical analyzes yielded evidence for the absence of an association between both anxiety dimensions and ERN and CRN. Altogether, our results suggest that the association of anxiety dimensions, particularly anxious apprehension, and action monitoring might be smaller in non-clinical samples as previous studies indicate
