    Effect Of Refrigeration On Tensile Bond Strength Of Three Adhesive Systems.

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the tensile bond strengths of three adhesive systems applied to dentin at refrigerated and room temperatures. Ninety bovine incisor teeth were obtained, embedded in self-cured acrylic resin, abraded on a lathe under water spray and polished to 400 and 600 grit to form standardized dentin surfaces before randomly assigning to six groups (n = 15). The adhesive systems Scotchbond Multi-Purpose, Single Bond and Prime & Bond NT were applied to dentin according to the manufacturers' instructions at refrigerated temperature (4 degrees C) and at room temperature (23 degrees C), before bonding resin-based composite (Z 100). The specimens were stored in distilled water at 37 degrees C for 24 hours and submitted to tensile bond strength tests on a universal testing machine (EMIC DL-2000) at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. The resulting data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance and Tukey's test. No statistical differences were found when the adhesive systems were applied at refrigerated and room temperatures. Scotchbond Multi-Purpose and Single Bond had significantly stronger tensile bond strengths than Prime & Bond NT at room and refrigerated temperatures (p < 0.01). Scotchbond Multi-Purpose and Single Bond were statistically similar. No adverse effects upon tensile bond strength were observed when adhesive systems were taken directly from refrigerated storage.122757

    Supercooled confined water and the Mode Coupling crossover temperature

    We present a Molecular Dynamics study of the single particle dynamics of supercooled water confined in a silica pore. Two dynamical regimes are found: close to the hydrophilic substrate molecules are below the Mode Coupling crossover temperature, TCT_C, already at ambient temperature. The water closer to the center of the pore (free water) approaches upon supercooling TCT_C as predicted by Mode Coupling Theories. For free water the crossover temperature and crossover exponent γ\gamma are extracted from power-law fits to both the diffusion coefficient and the relaxation time of the late α\alpha region.Comment: To be published, Phys.     Comparison of charged sheets and corrected 3D Ewald calculations of long-range forces in slab geometry electrolyte systems with solvent molecules

    Two methods of calculating long-range intermolecular potentials are compared for an approximately 3 M aqueous electrolyte solution confined between two charged surfaces. We investigate the ionic density profiles using the charged sheets method and the corrected-3-D Ewald method at two different system sizes and also compare the Coulomb forces directly. The corrected-3-D Ewald method is recommended for the calculation of long-range potentials in systems of this nature because it is less system size dependent than the charged sheets method and the resultant forces are more consistent with periodic boundaries. However, the charged sheets method for estimating long-range potentials in coulombic systems may be useful for certain applications, and the corrected-3-D Ewald method also shows some system size vulnerability

    The advent of new technologies related to thermal insulation systems in civil construction helps buildings become more efficient, reducing their consumption of electric energy through air conditioning, and providing thermal comfort to users. The research aims to develop a facade cladding board for buildings, with thermal insulation starting from vacuum, and corn cob. Facade coatings with mortar finish were developed, filling them with developed materials. Three prototypes were executed in masonry of ceramic blocks, with dimensions of 60x60x64,0 cm. The Field Logger 512K (Lite) and PT100 sensors were used for data collection of external temperature and internal temperature of the prototypes. Solar radiation data were collected by the university weather station, model Davis-6450. It is worth noting the average internal temperature reduction in Prototype 2 and 3, compared to 1 (without isolation), which was 2.74 ° C and 8.05 ° C

    Single-Proton Removal Reaction Study of 16B

    The low-lying level structure of the unbound system 16^{16}B has been investigated via single-proton removal from a 35 MeV/nucleon 17^{17}C beam. The coincident detection of the beam velocity 15^{15}B fragment and neutron allowed the relative energy of the in-flight decay of 16^{16}B to be reconstructed. The resulting spectrum exhibited a narrow peak some 85 keV above threshold. It is argued that this feature corresponds to a very narrow (Γ\Gamma \ll 100 keV) resonance, or an unresolved multiplet, with a dominant π(p3/2)1ν(d5/23)J=3/2+\pi (p_{3/2})^{-1} \otimes \nu (d_{5/2}^3)_{J=3/2^+} + π(p3/2)1ν(d5/22,s1/2)J=3/2+\pi (p_{3/2})^{-1} \otimes \nu (d_{5/2}^2,s_{1/2})_{J=3/2^+} configuration which decays by d-wave neutron emission.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures, 1 table, submitted to Phys.     We present results from two recent runs which illustrate the performance of the PRISMA spectrometer in the proximity of the upper limit of its operational interval, namely 96Zr + 124Sn at Elab = 500 MeV and 136Xe + 208Pb at Elab = 930 MeV.     MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play diverse roles in regulating cellular and developmental functions. We have profiled the miRNA expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 36 HIV-1 seropositive individuals and 12 normal controls. The HIV-1-positive individuals were categorized operationally into four classes based on their CD4+ T-cell counts and their viral loads. We report that specific miRNA signatures can be observed for each of the four classes
