Stellar 3-D kinematics in the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy
Aims. We present the first three-dimensional internal motions for individual
stars in the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy. Methods. By combining first-epoch
observations and second-epoch Data Release
2 positions, we measured the proper motions of sources in the direction
of Draco. We determined the line-of-sight velocities for a sub-sample of
red giant branch stars using medium resolution spectra acquired with the DEIMOS
spectrograph at the Keck II telescope. Altogether, this resulted in a final
sample of Draco members with high-precision and accurate 3D motions, which
we present as a table in this paper. Results. Based on this high-quality
dataset, we determined the velocity dispersions at a projected distance of
pc from the centre of Draco to be
km/s, km/s and
km/s in the projected radial, tangential, and line-of-sight directions. This
results in a velocity anisotropy at
pc. Tighter constraints may be obtained using the spherical Jeans equations and
assuming constant anisotropy and Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) mass profiles, also
based on the assumption that the 3D velocity dispersion should be lower than
of the escape velocity of the system. In this case, we constrain
the maximum circular velocity of Draco to be in the range of
km/s. The corresponding mass range is in good agreement with
previous estimates based on line-of-sight velocities only. Conclusions. Our
Jeans modelling supports the case for a cuspy dark matter profile in this
galaxy. Firmer conclusions may be drawn by applying more sophisticated models

Com a percepção de que a qualidade de vida dos imigrantes no Brasil é influenciada pelo não conhecimento do português cotidiano, este trabalho de conclusão de curso pretende criar uma solução para auxiliar neste problema. Ele se baseia no estudo do público-alvo; nos conhecimentos da Semiótica em conjunto com o Design Instrucional; nas metodologias Recursive and Reflective Design and Development e Rational Unified Process; e na análise de entrevistas e similares para criar diretrizes de projeto. Depois, estes norteadores são trabalhadas na fase de desenvolvimento, onde são traduzidas em forma de um jogo para smartphone que disponibiliza minigames para o aprendizado da língua portuguesa, sem fazer uso da tradução; e um currículo para o acesso ao mercado de trabalho.Knowing that immigrant’s life quality is influenced on knowing daily spoken portuguese, this project intends on creating a solution to this problem, through Visual Design. It is based on the target audience research; Semiotic’s and Instructional Desing’s knowledges; Recursive and Reflective Design and Development and Rational Unified Process methodologies, as well on other material’s analisis to create project guidelines. Those are reviewed on the development stage, in which they are transformed into a game that uses a series of minigames to teach basic portuguese without using word translation. When the game is finished, it permits the user to fill an employment data, that can be used to access the job market
Los grupos vulnerables y las tecnologías de la información y comunicaciones
En la realidad digital todos tenemos algún grado de vulnerabilidad, pero hay grupos que están más expuestos. Los encontramos en los extremos etarios por un lado a los niños y adolescentes, por el otro a los adultos mayores; todos creemos que ellos deben ser atendidos y capacitados con mayor dedicación. En forma transversal las personas con capacidades diferentes nos reclaman mayor accesibilidad y regulación del teletrabajo. Los consumidores digitales también deben incluirse como grupo vulnerable más aun porque el comercio electrónico está insuficientemente legislado en Argentina.
El trabajo procura brindar, dentro de la brevedad de una ponencia, un marco teórico sobre el concepto de “grupos vulnerables” y qué entendemos por tales en relación a las tecnologías de la información y comunicaciones (TIC’s). Tratamos brevemente a todos ellos, pero procuramos aportar datos específicos sobre el colectivo de adultos mayores ya que es aquel sobre el que menos bibliografía se ha relevado. En base a búsquedas específicas y entrevistas realizadas en este grupo mayor a 65 años compartimos las reflexiones a las que arribamos en las cuales concluimos que algunos preconceptos se basaban en prejuicios ya que no se diferencian sus riesgos de los que tiene cualquier persona más joven que participe.Sociedad Argentina de Informática e Investigación Operativ

The application of two-dimensional frames applied to three-dimensional spaces effectively impacts the identity of the company, redefining the Visual System itself, turning the architectural space into a corporate signage milestone within the Three-Dimensional Program. Currently, recognized clothing brands resort to mastering two-dimensional space with the aim of becoming universal graphic symbols with high power of remembrance within an urban space.En el diseño de un Sistema de Identidad Visual de Alta Complejidad, el uso y aplicación de un repertorio de identificadores secundarios otorga valor a la identidad misma.
La aplicación de tramas bidimensionales aplicadas a espacios tridimensionales impacta eficazmente en la identidad de la empresa, resignificando el propio Sistema Visual convirtiendo al espacio arquitectónico en un hito señalético corporativo dentro del Programa Tridimensional.
Actualmente, marcas de Indumentaria reconocidas, recurren al dominio del espacio bitridimensional con el objetivo de convertirse en símbolos gráficos universales de alto poder de recordación dentro de un espacio urbano. Na concepção de um Sistema de Identidade Visual de Alta Complexidade, a utilização e aplicação de um repertório de identificadores secundários valoriza a própria identidade.
A aplicação de molduras bidimensionais aplicadas a espaços tridimensionais impactam efetivamente a identidade da empresa, redefinindo o próprio Sistema Visual, tornando o espaço arquitetônico um marco da sinalização corporativa dentro do Programa Tridimensional.

SinR is a mutational target for fine-tuning biofilm formation in laboratory-evolved strains of Bacillus subtilis
Background: Bacteria often form multicellular, organized communities known as biofilms, which protect cells from a variety of environmental stresses. During biofilm formation, bacteria secrete a species-specific matrix; in Bacillus subtilis biofilms, the matrix consists of protein polymers and exopolysaccharide. Many domesticated strains of B. subtilis have a reduced ability to form biofilms, and we conducted a two-month evolution experiment to test whether laboratory culturing provides selective pressure against biofilm formation in B. subtilis. Results: Bacteria grown in two-month-long batch culture rapidly diversified their biofilm-forming characteristics, exhibiting highly diverse colony morphologies on LB plates in the initial ten days of culture. Generally, this diversity decreased over time; however, multiple types of colony morphology remained in our final two-month-old populations, both under shaking and static conditions. Notably, while our final populations featured cells that produce less biofilm matrix than did the ancestor, cells overproducing biofilm matrix were present as well. We took a candidate-gene approach to identify mutations in the strains that overproduced matrix and found point mutations in the biofilm-regulatory gene sinR. Introducing these mutations into the ancestral strain phenocopied or partially phenocopied the evolved biofilm phenotypes. Conclusions: Our data suggest that standard laboratory culturing conditions do not rapidly select against biofilm formation. Although biofilm matrix production is often reduced in domesticated bacterial strains, we found that matrix production may still have a fitness benefit in the laboratory. We suggest that adaptive specialization of biofilm-forming species can occur through mutations that modulate biofilm formation as in B. subtilis. With respect to the limited lifespan of glutaraldehyde-treated bioprostheses (BHVs) to date there is almost no alternative when heart valve replacement surgery is required and most advanced current research attempts to develop tissue engineered valve scaffolds to be implantedin vivoor afterin vitropreconditioning and dynamic seeding with host cells. However the clinical outcomes of grafting detergent-based cell-depleted tissue engineered xenogeneic constructs are still controversial. Insufficient quantitative evaluations performed at preclinical level about the residual content of xenogeneic epitopes, detergents, and nucleic acid materials in such scaffolds have led to disappointing and disastrous results. The risk of these dramatic accidents reoccurring remains very high unless safety and reliable control tools aimed to reach their complete removal, in order to consider tissues biocompatible and suitable for clinical practice
FAMA: An automatic code for stellar parameter and abundance determination
The large amount of spectra obtained during the epoch of extensive
spectroscopic surveys of Galactic stars needs the development of automatic
procedures to derive their atmospheric parameters and individual element
abundances. Starting from the widely-used code MOOG by C. Sneden, we have
developed a new procedure to determine atmospheric parameters and abundances in
a fully automatic way. The code FAMA (Fast Automatic MOOG Analysis) is
presented describing its approach to derive atmospheric stellar parameters and
element abundances. The code, freely distributed, is written in Perl and can be
used on different platforms. The aim of FAMA is to render the computation of
the atmospheric parameters and abundances of a large number of stars using
measurements of equivalent widths as automatic and as independent of any
subjective approach as possible. It is based on the simultaneous search for
three equilibria: excitation equilibrium, ionization balance, and the
relationship between \fei\ and the reduced equivalent widths. FAMA also
evaluates the statistical errors on individual element abundances and errors
due to the uncertainties in the stellar parameters. The convergence criteria
are not fixed 'a priori' but are based on the quality of the spectra. In this
paper we present tests performed on the Solar spectrum EWs which tests the
dependency on the initial parameters, and the analysis of a sample of stars
