Indicadores De Desenvolvimento Em Crianças E Adolescentes Com Qi Igual Ou Inferior A 70
This study aimed to identify development indicators in children and adolescents with learning difficulties, with IQ equal to or below 70 in the WISC-IV test (compatible to the delimited value for diagnosis of intellectual disability). It was based on the historical-cultural perspective of human development proposed by Vygostsky, especially in relation to the distinction between real and potential development. This research reports two case studies with a child and a teenager. Data was collected from audio recordings of semi-structured interviews with parents/responsible person and the professionals of the schools they were enrolled, as well as video recordings of the service sessions in an informal educational project the child and teenager regularly attended. Data analysis involved transcriptions of the interview and construction of tables with the child/teenager’s social participation modes and superior mental processes, analysis of the service sessions recordings with transcriptions and micro genetic analysis of significant episodes. Data suggest that, when emphasizing the search for development indicators, it is possible to have a wide view of each case in a way to contemplate, beyond limitations, children and teenagers’ potentialities. © 2016, Associacao Brasileira de Pesquisadores em Educacao Especial. Prediction of Rubble-Stone Masonry Walls Response under Axial Compression Using 2D Particle Modelling

This research received no external fundingTo predict the structural behaviour of ancient stone masonry walls is still a challenging task due to their strong heterogeneity. A rubble-stone masonry modeling methodology using a 2D particle model (2D-PM), based on the discrete element method is proposed given its ability to predict crack propagation by taking directly into account the material structure at the grain scale. Rubble-stone (ancient) masonry walls tested experimentally under uniaxial compression loading conditions are numerically evaluated. The stone masonry numerical models are generated from a close mapping process of the stone units and of the mortar surfaces. A calibration procedure for the stone-stone and mortar-mortar contacts based on experimental data is presented. The numerical studies show that the 2D-PM wall models can predict the formation and propagation of cracks, the initial stiffness and the maximum load obtained experimentally in traditional stone masonry walls. To reduce the simulation times, it is shown that the wall lateral numerical model adopting a coarser mortar discretization is a viable option for these walls. The mortar behaviour under compression with lateral confinement is identified as an important micro-parameter, that influences the peak strength and the ductility of rubble-masonry walls under uniaxial loading.publishersversionpublishe
Incorporating oldman saltbush hay and prickly pear in diets for red Sindhi calves
This study was designed to evaluate the nutrient intake, digestibility, degradability, and ruminal characteristics of Sindhi heifers fed diets that contained a combined total of 75% oldman saltbush hay (hereafter saltbush hay) and prickly pear cactus. Eight 12-month old intact male red Sindhi calves (four fistulated and four non-fistulated) with an initial mean weight of 170 ± 5 kg were assigned to 4 × 4 Latin squares, where factors consisted of four diets, namely 15% hay and 60% cactus; 30% hay and 45% cactus; 45% hay and 30% cactus; and 60% hay and 15% cactus, and four times at which rumen fluid was collected. Neutral detergent fibre (NDF) and acid detergent fibre (ADF) intakes in kg/day and NDF in percentage live weight (LW), water intake, salinity, and conductivity increased with hay level. Intake and digestibility of non-fibrous carbohydrates were curvilinear with higher values in diets containing 30% saltbush hay. The apparent digestibility of dry matter (DM) and organic matter decreased linearly as the concentration of saltbush hay increased in the diet. The pH of the rumen fluid was within the acceptable range for favourable microbial growth. The low temperature and high salinity and conductivity indices in the diets should be viewed with caution at higher concentrations of saltbush hay, because of a possible decrease in nutrient absorption and the development of health problems in the animals. Incorporation Of Nanocrystals With Different Dimensionalities In Hybrid Tio2/p3ht Solar Cells
We investigate the effect of TiO2 nanoparticles-nanospheres and nanorods-inserted in the poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) matrix of TiO2?P3HT inverted hybrid solar cells. X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, small-angle x-ray scattering, photoluminescence, and photoelectrochemical experiments were employed to investigate the structure, morphology, and photoactivity of TiO2 nanoparticles modified with 2-thiopheneacetic acid, mixed or not with P3HT. Both TiO2 nanospheres and TiO2 nanorods presented a good dispersion in the polymer matrix. The incorporation of TiO2 nanospheres and nanorods has improved the photocurrent generation, and devices with efficiency values up to 1.35% were obtained. Our results reveal that the nanoscale morphology enables an enhanced interfacial area for exciton dissociation. Resolvin rvd2 reduces hypothalamic inflammation and rescues mice from diet-induced obesity
Diet-induced hypothalamic inflammation is an important mechanism leading to dysfunction of neurons involved in controlling body mass. Studies have shown that polyunsaturated fats can reduce hypothalamic inflammation. Here, we evaluated the presence and function of RvD2, a resolvin produced from docosahexaenoic acid, in the hypothalamus of mice. Methods: Male Swiss mice were fed either chow or a high-fat diet. RvD2 receptor and synthetic enzymes were evaluated by real-time PCR and immunofluorescence. RvD2 was determined by mass spectrometry. Dietary and pharmacological approaches were used to modulate the RvD2 system in the hypothalamus, and metabolic phenotype consequences were determined. Results: All enzymes involved in the synthesis of RvD2 were detected in the hypothalamus and were modulated in response to the consumption of dietary saturated fats, leading to a reduction of hypothalamic RvD2. GPR18, the receptor for RvD2, which was detected in POMC and NPY neurons, was also modulated by dietary fats. The substitution of saturated by polyunsaturated fats in the diet resulted in increased hypothalamic RvD2, which was accompanied by reduced body mass and improved glucose tolerance. The intracerebroventricular treatment with docosahexaenoic acid resulted in increased expression of the RvD2 synthetic enzymes, increased expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines and improved metabolic phenotype. Finally, intracerebroventricular treatment with RvD2 resulted in reduced adiposity, improved glucose tolerance and increased hypothalamic expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines. Conclusions: Thus, RvD2 is produced in the hypothalamus, and its receptor and synthetic enzymes are modulated by dietary fats. CURSO DE FORMAÇÃO PEDAGÓGICA PARA MONITORES DA UFAPE: CONTRIBUIÇÕES ACADÊMICAS E PROFISSIONAIS
Nesse artigo a partir da experiência vivenciada no projeto de ensino coordenado pela Comissão de Ensino, em parceria com a Coordenação Geral de Cursos de Graduação, da Unidade Acadêmica de Garanhuns (UFRPE), atual Universidade Federal do Agreste de Pernambuco - UFAPE, em 2019, analisam-se as contribuições do curso para formação dos monitores para a formação acadêmica e profissional dos estudantes participantes do evento. Adota como fundamentação teórica os estudos de Lee Shulman que investigam conhecimentos necessários para o ensino. Os dados foram coletados por meio de um formulário on-line composto, em sua maior parte, por perguntas que deveriam ser respondidas atribuindo pontuação de 1 a 5, utilizando a escala de Likert. O perfil dos participantes foi diversificado, incluindo discentes ligados aos programas de monitoria e tutoria bolsistas ou voluntários. As motivações, indicadas pelos discentes participantes do curso, para ingresso nos programas de monitoria ou tutoria estão alinhadas com as definidas na resolução UFRPE 262/2001. Os participantes citaram positivamente a relação dos temas tratados com as atividades práticas da monitoria destacando-se o estímulo à profissão docente, especialmente ao contribuir para o desenvolvimento de conhecimentos pedagógicos, sobre avaliação; aprendizagem; metodologias de ensino, entre outros, importantes aspectos para a profissionalização docente
Levantamento fitossociológico de plantas daninhas em cafezal orgânico.
A adequação de um cafezal para o sistema orgânico causa grande mudança no sistema de manejo de plantas daninhas, mas as informações sobre o comportamento da comunidade infestante em áreas de cultivo de café orgânico são escassas no Brasil. Objetivou-se com este trabalho realizar um levantamento fitossociológico da comunidade infestante em três cafezais (variedades Mundo Novo, Bourbon Vermelho e Obatã) desenvolvidos em sistema orgânico, no município de Garça (SP). Nas três áreas estudadas foram arremessados ao acaso cem quadrados metálicos com área vazada de 0,25 m2, nas entrelinhas da cultura. As espécies contidas no interior dos quadros foram identificadas segundo a espécie botânica, nome popular e família. A partir dos resultados, determinaram-se os parâmetros fitossociológicos: frequência, densidade, abundância, frequência relativa, densidade relativa, abundância relativa, índice de valor de importância e similaridade florísticas pelos métodos de Simple Matching de Sneath & Sokal e similaridade de Sorensen. As famílias que mais se destacaram, com maior número de espécies nas três áreas foram Poaceae e Asteraceae. Houve alta similaridade em todos os contrastes testados, já que pelo menos metade das espécies identificadas foi comum às duas áreas contrastadas
