As Atuais Percepções Chinesas de suas Relações Regionais

Este artigo visa analisar a perspectiva doméstica chinesa sobre os principais atores e desafios presentes no seu entorno imediato. Devido a questões históricas não resolvidas e ao contínuo envolvimento americano, Pequim invariavelmente vê suas relações regionais serem elementos de escrutínio de um ator "forasteiro" e sem conexões geográficas e culturais com a região. Além de analisar a perspectiva chinesa sobre o atual papel dos Estados Unidos, o artigo também enfoca os dilemas da península coreana, as relações sino-japonesas e as relações com a Rússia. O artigo conclui que, a despeito de acompanhar mudanças no status daqueles atores,Pequim ainda busca manter a estabilidade regional a fim de consolidar seu esenvolvimento econômico

Estudo de ecos de terreno em sistemas de radar meteorológico a partir da óptica geométrica

Como principais parâmetros de entrada do algoritmo de cálculo têm-se o diagrama de radiação da antena e os dados topográficos da região onde o radar está localizado. Para a base de dados topográficos, utilizou-se os dados SRTM fornecidos pela NASA, obtidas pela missão de 2002 do ônibus espacial Endeavour com resolução espacial de 90m. Procurou-se caracterizar a propagação de sinais de radar a partir da óptica geométrica, modelando-se o diagrama de radiação da antena de radar como ondas eletromagnéticas irradiadas a partir do centro focal da antena, considerando-se a trajetória dos diversos raios compreendidos dentro do ângulo de abertura de feixe dos lóbulos da antena do radar, sendo o método validado utilizando-se dados de radares reais instalados no Estado do Paraná. Espera-se que este trabalho possa auxiliar no projeto de sistemas de radar meteorológico, sobretudo na escolha do local de instalação que tenha melhor resposta em relação ao eco de terreno. The main entries of the algorithm are the antenna radiation pattern and the topographic data related to the radar site. In order to obtain the topographic data it is used, the SRTM data provided by NASA with spatial resolution of 90 m, which collected the information from the Endeavour mission in the year of 2002 was used. Electromagnetic signal propagation was entirely described by means of geometric optics, the radiation pattern of the radar antenna was modeled like electromagnetics waves radiated from the focal center, taking into consideration the rays trajectories comprehended within the aperture angle of the antenna lobes. The method was validated using the data from meteorological radars already in use in the Paraná State. It is expected that the present work can help the design of future radar systems, mainly related to the choice of the installation site presenting the best response concerning groundclutter effects. PRE-IRRIGATION WITH GEL HIDRORETENTOR IN EUCALYPTUS SEEDLING ESTABLISHMENT IN THE FIELD

Research has sought new technologies aimed at establishing more productive forests. Hidroretentor gel that has the function of increasing the availability of water to the plant, in the most critical stage of establishment of the cuttings in the field. The objective of this study was to evaluate increasing levels of water retention gel applied in pre-irrigation, moments before planting, observing the survival index, and the morphological variables for the hybrid Eucalyptus grandis x E. urophylla-03, in Chapadinha-MA. The experiment was a randomized block with seven treatments and three replicates. The treatments consisted of five increasing doses of 1.0; 2.0; 3.0; 4.0 and 5.0 g 5 L-1 gel solution per liters of pre-irrigation, a treatment without the use of the gel; and a conventional planting treatment. The use of pre-irrigation with hidroretentores polymers, known as hidroretentor gel at a concentration of 4 and 5g 5L-1, provides a greater height, stem diameter, increasing the growth of eucalyptus plants in post-planting. The depth of the root system did not improve when a higher dose of gel was used, obtaining lower values than those obtained by the treatment without the use of the hidroretentor gel.Research has sought new technologies aimed at establishing more productive forests. ROC-ROK International Fate: Decolonization, Democratization, and Pragmatism

Dramatic geopolitical developments such as the Chinese Civil War, World War ii (wwii), and the Korean War, along with the status inside of the United Nations (UN) created the grounds for the diplomatic position of Taiwan (Republic of China, ROC) and South Korea (Republic of Korea, ROK) in 20th century global politics that still persists unto the present. Years later, economic development and democratization would also be important factors in the elaboration of these countries’ foreign policies, as well as the maintenance or expansion of their international space, and their responses to the challenges posed by their powerful neighbors who claim those territories as part of their own, namely the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC). This chapter briefly discusses some elements that played essential roles,first from 1949 until 1971 when both Koreans and Taiwanese were fighting for their place inside the UN, and later from 1972 to the present, when the Sino-American rapprochement changed the balance of power in the region. Brazilian Police Officers Killed in the Line of Duty: Daily Life of a Violent Reality

This paper presents data on the causes and circumstances of on-duty police deaths in Pará state, Brazil. We specifically analyzed deaths occurring from January 2010 to December 2017. Fifty-two deaths were examined using the database of the Secretary of Intelligence and Criminal Investigations (Siac) of Pará State Secretary for Public Security (Segup) and the investigative procedures undertaken by the internal inspector of the Pará Military Police and by the Homicide Division of Pará Civil Police. Results show that in a little less than fifty percent of all cases, on-duty police deaths are not directly related to direct confrontations with criminals even when they occur during work shifts. Despite the common discourse that police are killed by criminals seeking revenge, or because their equipment, especially guns are robbed, the number and nature of police deaths during the period of investigation does not corroborate these speculations.
