Effective restoration of the U_A(1) symmetry with temperature and density

We investigate the full U(3)\otimesU(3) chiral symmetry restoration, at finite temperature and density, on the basis of a quark model which incorporates the most relevant properties of QCD in this context: explicit and spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry and axial UA_A(1) symmetry breaking. A specific lattice-inspired behavior of the topological susceptibility, combined with the convergence of chiral partners, signals the onset of an effective chiral symmetry restoration. The results suggest that the axial part of the symmetry is restored before the possible restoration of the full U(3)\otimesU(3) chiral symmetry can occur. This conclusion is valid in the context of both finite temperature and density.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures; PRD versio

Performance of inoculated common bean in response to different cover crops and desiccation times.

The common bean requires high levels of nitrogen (N) to achieve high productivity, which can be supplied, at least partially, by the biological nitrogen fixation (BFN). Two field experiments were carried out in the winter season of 2015 aiming to evaluate the effects of different cover crops, desiccation times and the agronomic performance of the common bean inoculated with rhizobia. The experiments were assembled in a randomized block design with four replications, in a factorial split-plot arrangement with two additional treatments (5x4x2+2). The factors were composed of five cover crops, four desiccation times, two seed inoculation treatments and two additional controls (TN = 90 Kg N ha-1 and T0 = without N and without inoculation). The variables analyzed in the cover crops were dry mass (DM) and total nitrogen (Total-N). With the common bean, the chlorophyll content (CC), the number of nodules (NN), the nodule dry weight (NDW), the shoot dry weight (SDW), the root dry weight (RDW) and the grain yield (GY) were evaluated. The results showed that the agronomic performance of the common bean was not affected by the desiccation times of the cover crops, although the amount of Total-N accumulated by cover crops was influenced by sowing times. Inoculation of the common bean promoted an increase in the NN, NDW, CC and SDW. Higher GY of the common bean was achieved with its cropping after Brachiaria brizantha, Brachiaria ruziziensis, millet and fallow

    Improving multivariate data streams clustering.

Clustering data streams is an important task in data mining research. Recently, some algorithms have been proposed to cluster data streams as a whole, but just few of them deal with multivariate data streams. Even so, these algorithms merely aggregate the attributes without touching upon the correlation among them. In order to overcome this issue, we propose a new framework to cluster multivariate data streams based on their evolving behavior over time, exploring the correlations among their attributes by computing the fractal dimension. Experimental results with climate data streams show that the clusters' quality and compactness can be improved compared to the competing method, leading to the thoughtfulness that attributes correlations cannot be put aside. In fact, the clusters' compactness are 7 to 25 times better using our method. Our framework also proves to be an useful tool to assist meteorologists in understanding the climate behavior along a period of time.Edição dos Proceedings do 16th International Conference on Computational Science, San Diego, 2016

Euclidean thermal spinor Green's function in the spacetime of a straight cosmic string

Within the framework of the quantum field theory at finite temperature on a conical space, we determine the Euclidean thermal spinor Green's function for a massless spinor field. We then calculate the thermal average of the energy-momentum tensor of a thermal bath of massless fermions. In the high-temperature limit, we find that the straight cosmic string does not perturb the thermal bathComment: 11 pages, latex, no figure

Pseudoscalars Mesons in Hot, Dense Matter

Phase transitions in hot and dense matter and the in--medium behavior of pseudoscalar mesons (π±,π0,K±,K0,Kˉ0,ηandη\pi^{\pm}, \pi^0, K^{\pm}, K^0 ,\bar K^0,\eta {and} \eta' ) are investigated, in the framework of the three flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model, including the 't Hooft interaction, which breaks the UA(1)U_A(1) symmetry. Three different scenarios are considered: zero density and finite temperature, zero temperature and finite density in quark matter with different degrees of strangeness, and finite temperature and density. At T=0, the role of strange valence quarks in the medium is discussed, in connection with the phase transition and the mesonic behavior. It is found that the appearance of strange quarks, above certain densities, leads to meaningful changes in different observables, especially in matter with \betaequilibrium.Thebehaviorofmesonsinthe --equilibrium. The behavior of mesons in the T-\rho$ plane is analyzed in connection with possible signatures of restoration of symmetries.Comment: 33 pages, 12 figures, PRC versio

Características físicas e químicas de frutos de cajuí (Anacardium ssp.).

    Get PDF

Dirac fields in the background of a magnetic flux string and spectral boundary conditions

    Get PDF
We study the problem of a Dirac field in the background of an Aharonov-Bohm flux string. We exclude the origin by imposing spectral boundary conditions at a finite radius then shrinked to zero. Thus, we obtain a behaviour of eigenfunctions which is compatible with the self-adjointness of the radial Hamiltonian and the invariance under integer translations of the reduced flux. After confining the theory to a finite region, we check the consistency with the index theorem, and evaluate its vacuum fermionic number and Casimir energy.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure Two references added To be published in International Journal of Modern Physics
