    Upper bounds of dual flagged Weyl characters

    For a subset DD of boxes in an n×nn\times n square grid, let χD(x)\chi_{D}(x) denote the dual character of the flagged Weyl module associated to DD. It is known that χD(x)\chi_{D}(x) specifies to a Schubert polynomial (resp., a key polynomial) in the case when DD is the Rothe diagram of a permutation (resp., the skyline diagram of a composition). One can naturally define a lower and an upper bound of χD(x)\chi_{D}(x). M{\'e}sz{\'a}ros, St. Dizier and Tanjaya conjectured that χD(x)\chi_{D}(x) attains the upper bound if and only if DD avoids a certain subdiagram. We provide a proof of this conjecture

    What competencies do European general practice trainees value the most? A prioritisation exercise using a Delphi-informed approach

    General Practice has changed over the past decade. Expansion of clinicians’ roles may create uncertainty, stress, and overload – particular for those at the start of their career. The WONCA Europe network for medical education, EURACT, has published competency-based aims and requirements for speciality training in general practice. Greater understanding of the trainee perspective would support planning and delivery of postgraduate training curricula. This two-step study aims to provide a competency priority list, created by European early career general practitioners, to highlight skills that this generation considers highly essential in future speciality training. A competency list was drafted with trainee- and early career general practitioners from across Europe at the Vasco da Gama Movement Forum (Edinburgh, January 2022). Participants identified competencies that they regarded as most relevant for future speciality training in their respective national contexts. Competencies were coded into categories and ranked in two consecutive rounds, the first taking place online and the second at WONCA Europe (London, June 2022). After two rounds, a consensual list of three main competencies for each category was drafted. The top three competencies for each category remained the same throughout both rounds and may be considered competencies that early career general practitioners in Europe consider important for training. Prioritisation of these competencies by institutions and educators within general practice training programmes may support trainees’ satisfaction and perceived preparedness for practice

    A heuristic inquiry : encountering the self with symbolic images

    This heuristic journey to the Self occurred spontaneously from my life quest. While living with and gazing at symbolic images in my room, I captured their voices unfolding the same message about "going deep down inward to search for the Self." I followed the message coming from inner wisdom and realized that my symbolic images and their message were closely related to Cari Jung's perspective of the Self. In this heuristic self-inquiry, I have pursued the self-experience leading me to the essence of the Self, and the symbolic images along with reflexive knowledge were a major guideline to the self-experience of encountering the Self in a metaphoric, safe way. I experienced the symbolic manifestations of the Self by the images of the Shadow, pond, castle, mandala, apple, heart, Christ, and lotus flower. I also experienced fears, which caused resistance or hesitation in my heuristic journey to the Self. In the process of recognizing and resolving my fears, I could proceed with my heuristic self-inquiry and diminished my resistance. Then, I could expand my limited concepts of the Self, God, and my religion and reached a new understanding of the essence of the Self that the Self is a manifestation of God residing in the heart, deep inside of us. Also I discovered that a heuristic journey on a topic can have several layers of heuristic inquiry, like a spiral shape, in aiming at reaching the core of what is being investigated. I hope this heuristic self-inquiry can be beneficial to others to better understand the Self in their process of healing, maturity, or transformation, and as well to art therapists to better understand their clients within artwork processes in clinical practic

    National audienceThe incidence of prosthesis infections after breast reconstruction is of the order of 4% to 13% according to the literature. In surgical patients, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is the bacterial species most often responsible for surgical site infections. In cardiac surgery, screening for carriage of S. aureus and preoperative decontamination are carried out routinely before prosthetic surgery. We retrospectively reviewed data from patients at our institution between January 2011 and December 2013. Our series showed that the prosthesis infection rates were in the range of 5.92% in 2008 with an ISO rate of S. aureus 3.61%. Routine screening for prosthetic reconstructions was performed to assess the impact of preoperative decontamination patients in carriers of S. aureus. This screening was done in 381 patients: 17.8% of patients were carriers of S. aureus ; 11 patients have an ISO (or an incidence rate of 2.88%) ; 5 patients have an ISO S. aureus (an incidence of S. aureus ISO 1.3%). The introduction of the screening process, allowed a drop of 5.92% ISO rate at 1.46% with a passage of S. aureus SSI rates of 3, 60% to 0.72%. In the near future, studies are needed to confirm these encouraging results, to demonstrate the efficacy of preoperative decontamination in carriers of S. aureus patients before laying prosthesis

    Geochemistry, zircon U‒Pb and Hf isotopic compositions of lower crustal rocks from the Góry Sowie Massif (Central Sudetes, SW Poland): New insights on the sedimentary origin and tectono-thermal evolution

    Devonian HP-UHP lithotectonic associations represent a pivotal element of Paleozoic evolution of the European Variscan belt across the continent from Portugal to Poland. The GĂłry Sowie Massif (GSM), located in the Central Sudetes, represents one of the best preserved outcrops of lower crustal rocks that experienced a protracted Devonian tectono-metamorphic history at the easternmost extremity of the belt. The area is surrounded by Devonian ophiolite remnants and Devonian to Carboniferous sedimentary basins in the northern and southern part, respectively. The GSM is mainly composed of paragneisses and subordinate orthogneisses, metabasites and granulite. The dominantly sedimentary association and the overall geotectonic setting contrast with the other km-scale granulite complexes in the Bohemian Massif that are dominated by felsic granulites and late Cambrian orthogneisses that experienced 340 Ma HP metamorphism. Weak Carboniferous overprint makes the GSM a key locality to better understand the Devonian stages of formation of HP granulites and provenance of the whole pre-Devonian lithological association. New U-Pb and Lu/Hf analyses were carried out on zircons from 4 migmatitic paragneisses, 3 felsic biotite-poor granulites and 2 biotite-rich granulites in the northern part of the GSM, and combined with geochemical analyses in order to constrain a source provenance and tectono-thermal history of the area. The paragneisses dominated by stromatic migmatite and felsic granulites occur as hundred meter-scale bodies associated with metric lenses of amphibolites, mafic and ultramafic rocks in the northern part of the massif
