Superorbital Period in the High Mass X-ray Binary 2S 0114+650
We report the detection of a superorbital period in the high-mass X-ray
binary 2S 0114+650. Analyses of data from the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer
(RXTE) All-Sky Monitor (ASM) from 1996 January 5 to 2004 August 25 reveal a
superorbital period of 30.7 +/- 0.1 d, in addition to confirming the previously
reported neutron star spin period of 2.7 h and the binary orbital period of
11.6 d. It is unclear if the superorbital period can be ascribed to the

The Reallocation of Compensation in Response to Health Insurance Premium Increases
This paper examines how compensation packages change when health insurance premiums rise. We use data on employee choices within a single large firm with a flexible benefits plan; an increasingly common arrangement among medium and large firms. In these companies, employees explicitly choose how to allocate compensation between cash and various benefits such as retirement, medical insurance, life insurance, and dental benefits. We find that a $1 increase in the price of health insurance leads to 52-cent increase in expenditures on health insurance. Approximately 2/3 of this increase is financed through reduced wages and 1/3 through other benefits

Application of PoF Based Virtual Qualification Methods for Reliability Assessment of Mission Critical PCBs
Reliability is the ability of a product to perform the function for which it was intended for a specified period of time (or cycles) for a given set of life cycle conditions. In today's compressed mission development cycles where designing, building and testing the physical models has to occur in a matter of months not years, Projects don't have the luxury of iteratively building and testing those models. Physics of failure (PoF) is an engineering-based approach to reliability that begins with an understanding of materials, processes, physical interactions, degradation and failure mechanisms, as well as identifying failure models. The PoF approach uses modeling and simulation to qualify a design and manufacturing process, with the ultimate intent of eliminating failures early in the design process by addressing the root cause. The physics-of-failure analysis proactively incorporates reliability into the design process by establishing a scientific basis for evaluating new materials, structures and technologies. Virtual physics-of-failure modeling allows engineers to determine if new technological node can be added to an existing system. This presentation will illustrate an application of a PoF based tool during the initial phases of a printed circuit board assembly development and how the NASA GSFC team was able to dynamically study the effects of electronics parts and printed circuit board material configuration changes under simulated thermal and vibrational stresse
From fusion to total disassembly: global stopping in heavy-ion collisions
Using the quantum molecular dynamics model, we aim to investigate the emis-
sion of light complex particles, and degree of stopping reached in heavy-ion
colli- sions. We took incident energies between 50 and 1000 MeV/nucleon. In
addition, central and peripheral collisions and different masses are also
considered. We ob- serve that the light complex particles act in almost similar
manner as anisotropic ratio. In other words, multiplicity of light complex
particles is an indicator of global stopping in heavy-ion collisions. We see
that maximum light complex particles and stopping is obtained for heavier
masses in central collisions
A Multicoloured View of 2S 0114+650
We report the results of radio and X-ray observations of the high mass X-ray
binary 2S 0114+650, made with the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope and the Rossi
X-ray Timing Explorer respectively. No emission was detected at radio
wavelengths. The neutral hydrogen column density was found to vary over the
orbital period, while no variability over the the super-orbital period was
observed. We discuss the causes of the observed relationships and the

Precise time and frequency intercomparison between NPL, India and PTB, Federal Republic of Germany via satellite symphonie-1
A time and frequency intercomparison experiment conducted using Earth stations in New Delhi, India and Raisting, FRG is described. The NPL clock was placed at New Delhi Earth Station and the Raisting Clock was calibrated with PTB/Primary standard via LORAN-C and travelling clocks. The random uncertainity of time comparisons, represented by two sample Allan Variance sigma (30 seconds), was less than 10 nanoseconds. The relative frequency difference between the NPL and Raisting Clocks, SNPL, RAIS, as measured over the 44 days period was found to be -15.7 x 10 to the -13th power. The relative frequency difference between PTB Primary Standard and Raisting Clock, SPTB, RAIS, during this period, was measured to be -22.8 x 10 to the -13th power. The relative frequency difference between NPL clock and PTB Primary Standard, SNPL, PTB, thus, is +7.1 x 10 to the -13th power. The clock rate (UTC, India) of +7.1 + or - 0.5 x 10 to the -13th power, agrees well with that obtained via VLF phase measurements over one year period and with USNO travelling clock time comparisons made in September, 1980

Ageusia is a rare condition characterized by loss of taste functions of the tongue.A large number of conditions may be responsible for causing ageusia. Adverseeffects of drug therapy are the most common cause for the loss of taste. Ageusiacan have a significant effect on the quality of life of patients and can lead to lossof appetite, weight, and may require discontinuation of drug administration inalready compromised patients. We present two cases of ageusia one associated withamitriptyline in a patient with endogenous depression and the other with terbinafinein patient with tinea unguium
Metallic monoclinic phase in VO induced by electrochemical gating: in-situ Raman study
We report in-situ Raman scattering studies of electrochemically top gated
VO thin film to address metal-insulator transition (MIT) under gating. The
room temperature monoclinic insulating phase goes to metallic state at a gate
voltage of 2.6 V. However, the number of Raman modes do not change with
electrolyte gating showing that the metallic phase is still monoclinic. The
high frequency Raman mode A(7) near 616 cm ascribed to V-O vibration
of bond length 2.06 \AA~ in VO octahedra hardens with increasing gate
voltage and the B(3) mode near 654 cm softens. This shows that the
distortion of the VO octahedra in the monoclinic phase decreases with
gating. The time dependent Raman data at fixed gate voltages of 1 V (for 50
minute, showing enhancement of conductivity by a factor of 50) and 2 V (for 130
minute, showing further increase in conductivity by a factor of 5) show similar
changes in high frequency Raman modes A(7) and B(3) as observed in
gating. This slow change in conductance together with Raman frequency changes
show that the governing mechanism for metalization is more likely to the
diffusion controlled oxygen vacancy formation due to the applied electric
