    Supporting Reflection and Classroom Orchestration with Tangible Tabletops

    Tangible tabletop systems have been extensively proven to be able to enhance participation and engagement as well as enable many exciting activities, particularly in the education domain. However, it remains unclear as to whether students really benefit from using them for tasks that require a high level of reflection. Moreover, most existing tangible tabletops are designed as stand-alone systems or devices. Increasingly, this design assumption is no longer sufficient, especially in realistic learning settings. Due to the technological evolution in schools, multiple activities, resources, and constraints in the classroom ecosystem are now involved in the learning process. The way teachers manage technology-enhanced classrooms and the involved activities and constraints in real-time, also known as classroom orchestration, is a crucial aspect for the materialization of reflection and learning. This thesis aims to explore how educational tangible tabletop systems affect reflection, how reflection and orchestration are related, and how we can support reflection and orchestration to improve learning. It presents the design, implementation, and evaluations of three tangible tabletop systems – the DockLamp, the TinkerLamp, and the TinkerLamp 2.0 – in different learning contexts. Our experience with these systems, both inside and outside of the laboratory, results in an insightful understanding of the impacts of tangible tabletops on learning and the conditions for their effective use as well as deployment. These findings can be beneficial to the researchers and designers of learning environments using tangible tabletop and similar interfaces

    Study of Factors Affecting the Leadership Capacity of CEO in Industrial SMEs in Vietnam

    The leadership capabilities of management team greatly influence the performance of management activities in an enterprise. Capturing and evaluating the impact of elements influencing leadership ability might help enterprises to formulate policies to optimize the capacity of the management team. The scope of the study in this paper is the survey of SMEs in Vietnam. The research team conducted 141 surveys by executives and managers working as heads of departments within current industrial SMEs in Vietnam. Research has indicated the three influential factors including self-efficacy, environment and personal characteristics, with personal traits making the least impact.     In using conventional scientific research methods in the field of physical training and sports, we selected and built the content of 04 measures to improve the quality of teaching Basketball subject for non-specialized students of Bac Ninh Sport University of Viet Nam under the credit-based training system, at the same time test the theory on the feasibility of measures by an expert method. The result showed that the selected and built measures were feasible and could be applied in practice to improve the quality of teaching Basketball subject for non-specialized students at Bac Ninh Sport University of Viet Nam under the credit-based training system.  Article visualizations

    Privacy-Preserving Schema Reuse

    As the number of schema repositories grows rapidly and several web-based platforms exist to support publishing schemas, \emph{schema reuse} becomes a new trend. Schema reuse is a methodology that allows users to create new schemas by copying and adapting existing ones. This methodology supports to reduce not only the effort of designing new schemas but also the heterogeneity between them. One of the biggest barriers of schema reuse is about privacy concerns that discourage schema owners from contributing their schemas. Addressing this problem, we develop a framework that enables privacy-preserving schema reuse. Our framework supports the contributors to define their own protection policies in the form of \emph{privacy constraints}. Instead of showing original schemas, the framework returns an \emph{anonymized schema} with maximal \emph{utility} while satisfying these privacy constraints. To validate our approach, we empirically show the efficiency of different heuristics, the correctness of the proposed utility function, the computation time, as well as the trade-off between utility and privacy

    Tag-based Paper Retrieval: Minimizing User Effort with Diversity Awareness

    As the number of scientific papers getting published is likely to soar, most of modern paper management systems (e.g. ScienceWise, Mendeley, CiteULike) support tag-based retrieval. In that, each paper is associated with a set of \emph{tags}, allowing user to search for relevant papers by formulating tag-based queries against the system. One of the most critical issues in tag-based retrieval is that user often has difficulties in precisely formulating his information need. Addressing this issue, our paper tackles the problem of automatically suggesting new tags for user when he formulates a query. The set of tags are selected in such a way that resolves query ambiguity in two aspects: \emph{informativeness} and \emph{diversity}. While the former reduces user effort in finding the desired papers, the latter enhances the variety of information shown to user. Through studying theoretical properties of this problem, we propose a heuristic-based algorithm with several salient performance guarantees. We also demonstrate the efficiency of our approach through extensive experimentation using real-world datasets

    The Role of Serial NT-ProBNP Level in Prognosis and Follow-Up Treatment of Acute Heart Failure after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery

    BACKGROUND: After coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, heart failure is still major problem. The valuable marker for it is needed. AIM: Evaluating the role of serial NT-proBNP level in prognosis and follow-up treatment of acute heart failure after CABG surgery. METHODS: The prospective, analytic study evaluated 107 patients undergoing CABG surgery at Ho Chi Minh Heart Institute from October 2012 to June 2014. Collecting data was done at pre- and post-operative days with measuring NT-proBNP levels on the day before operation, 2 hours after surgery, every next 24 h until the 5th day, and in case of acute heart failure occurred after surgery. RESULTS: On the first postoperative day (POD1), the NT-proBNP level demonstrated significant value for AHF with the cut-off point = 817.8 pg/mL and AUC = 0.806. On the second and third postoperative day, the AUC value of NT- was 0.753 and 0.751. It was statistically significant in acute heart failure group almost at POD 1 and POD 2 when analyzed by the doses of dobutamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline (both low doses and normal doses). CONCLUSION: Serial measurement of NT-proBNP level provides useful prognostic and follow-up treatment information in acute heart failure after CABG surgery

    Depth-dose distribution in potatoes with low-energy X-rays

    Irradiation is known as a handful measure to inhibit potato sprouting, kill harmful bacteria, and increase preservation. The absorbed dose is one of the essential characteristics of the irradiation process. In this study, the depth-dose distributions in potatoes and polymethyl methacrylate were investigated under low-energy X-ray irradiation by using the Fricke dosimeter and Gafchromic film dosimeter. The dose rates required for the rays to penetrate in polymethyl methacrylate were compared with those in potatoes. Polymethyl methacrylate could be used as a phantom in measuring the depth dose delivered in potatoes. The difference in depth-dose distribution in potatoes between one-sided and double-sided irradiation was also investigated. The calculated dose uniformity ratio values are 5.8 and 1.9 for potatoes irradiating one-sided and double-sided
