Awareness of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) among Teachers in India

    Get PDF
The present study investigates the awareness of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) among special and general teachers working in inclusive settings. UDL is a framework used to design a curriculum reachable to students with all abilities. UDL assists teachers to increase meaningful access to the curriculum and remove barriers for students with all abilities in learning. The roles and responsibilities of the teachers play an important role in implementing and transacting any curriculum to the learners. In the present study, the sample consisted of 429 teachers, teaching in primary, upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary stages of regular schools in Himachal Pradesh state of India. The sample for this study was selected through the purposive sampling technique and the descriptive survey research design was employed in the current study. Assessing awareness among teachers about UDL the questionnaire on UDL was used on the selected samples. The data was collected from samples through face-to-face interaction. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to compare the awareness level of UDL between special and general teachers. The result revealed that the teachers in Himachal Pradesh are not fully aware of the UDL. Special teachers have a higher awareness of UDL than general teachers. The result revealed that the teachers in Himachal Pradesh are not fully aware of the UDL. Special teachers have a higher awareness of UDL than general teachers and the successful implementation of UDL in inclusive setting require an entire school approach wherein every part of the system should be geared to address the needs of diverse students

Exergy Based Performance Analysis of Double Flow Solar Air Heater with Corrugated Absorber

This paper presents the performance, based on exergy analysis of double flow solar air heaters with corrugated and flat plate absorber. A mathematical model of double flow solar air heater based on energy balance equations has been presented and the results obtained have been compared with that of a conventional flat-plate solar air heater. The double flow corrugated absorber solar air heater performs thermally better than the flat plate double flow and conventional flat-plate solar air heater under same operating conditions. However, the corrugated absorber leads to higher pressure drop thereby increasing pumping power. The results revealed that the energy and exergy efficiencies of double flow corrugated absorber solar air heater is much higher than conventional solar air heater with the concept involving of increase in heat transfer surface area and turbulence in air flow. The results indicate that the energy efficiency increases, however, exergy efficiency decreases with increase in mass flow rate

This paper deals with the analytical investigation of thermal and thermohydraulic performance of double flow solar air heaters with corrugated and flat plate absorber. A mathematical model of double flow solar air heater has been presented, and a computer program in C++ language is developed to estimate the outlet temperature of air for the evaluation of thermal and thermohydraulic efficiency by solving the governing equations numerically using relevant correlations for heat transfer coefficients. The results obtained from the mathematical model is compared with the available experimental results and it is found to be reasonably good. The results show that the double flow solar air heaters have higher efficiency than conventional solar air heater, although the double flow corrugated absorber is superior to that of flat plate double flow solar air heater. It is also observed that the thermal efficiency increases with increase in mass flow rate; however, thermohydraulic efficiency increases with increase in mass flow rate up to a certain limit, attains the maximum value, then thereafter decreases sharply

A Rayleigh lidar study of the atmospheric temperature structure over Mt. Abu, India

A Nd-YAG laser based Rayleigh Lidar was set up at Guru Shikhar, Mount Abu (24.5° N, 72.7° E, altitude 1.7 km) by the Physical Research Laboratory to study the temperature structure in the altitude region of 30-75 km at tropical latitudes. Temperature profiles are derived from relative density measurements, following the method described by Hauchecorne & Channin (1980). Photon counts are averaged over one hour (2 hour during the later phase) in time and 480 m in altitude. Measurements were made for about 5 nights of each month around new moon except the monsoon season (June-August). Temperature profiles obtained on 109 nights during the period November 1997 to November 2001 are used to derive average temperature profile for each month (September to May) and are compared with the CIRA-86 model. Observed temperature profiles are in good agreement with CIRA-86 below 50 km but are higher by up to 10 K above 50 km. The agreement is better during winter months. The temperature profiles are also compared with the equatorial model for the Indian region (Sasi & Sengupta 1979) based on rocket and balloon measurements. Day to day variability is less than ± 5 K for altitudes below 50 km and up to ± 10 K around 70 km. The variability is the least around 40-50 km. The mean values of the stratopause level and temperature are found to be 48 km and 271 K respectively over the measurement site. Seasonal variation of the temperature below 60 km shows equinoctial and summer maxima whereas above 70 km winter maximum with equinoctial minima are seen

Study on comparative efficacy of bio-organic nutrients on plant growth, leaf nutrient contents and fruit quality attributes of kiwi fruit

    Get PDF
The comparative efficacy of bio-organic nutrients on cropping behavior and fruit quality of kiwifruit was analyzed using farm yard manure (FYM), vermicompost (VC), biofertilizers (BF), green manure (GM), and vermiwash (VW). Among various treatments the combination of FYM at 15 kg/vine, GM, VC at 15kg/vine, BFat50-g/ vine and VW at 2kg/vine significantly improved cropping behavior. This superior combination also resulted in considerably greater amounts of leaf macro-and micronutrients: N (2.49%), P (0.26%), K (1.48%), iron (Fe: 208.0 mg/kg), copper (Cu: 17.8 mg/kg), zinc (Zn: 36.2 mg/kg), and manganese (Mn: 88.3 mg/kg),which might be responsible for better cropping behavior, productivity and nutrient profile for sustainable kiwi fruit production. It can be concluded that with use of various sources of bio-organic materials under organic farming regime, there will be sufficient improvement in fruit quality and plant nutrient contents

FEMINIST JURISPRUDENCE IN PRACTICE: AN APPRAISAL

    Get PDF
Feminist Jurisprudence is emerging theory to see the society and law from feminist point of view. Law is an instrument to change the society and feminist jurisprudence will definitely help to understand the law from feminist perspective. Feminist jurisprudence has tried to work at ground level. Mostly it is divided in to first wave feminism, second wave feminism and third wave feminism. Right from the Seneca Falls Convention and women are struggling till now. In practice Feminist Jurisprudence played important role to realise the rights and place of women in society.  It is due to only feminist jurisprudence women fight for their voting right in America. Feminist jurisprudence originated in USA and UK but now a day it is working all over the world and gender issues are taken seriously in whole world. Second wave feminist jurist were mostly radical and produced the strong and conveying slogans e.g. sister hood is powerful’ Consciousness rising, ‘The personal is political ‘“The politics of human work ‘Pro women line etc. They firmly believed that women could collectively empower themselves. Third wave feminism stated in 1990 and feminist jurists of third wave taken in to consideration age, race, sex and class. Age also plays important role in discrimination. They stated D.I.Y.-do it yourself. Women have to struggle them self for their problem. The objective of the paper is to understand the law and practical impact of feminist Jurisprudence.
