    Pakhtun Social Structure and Its Impacts on Womenas Education

    The current study analyze the social structural dimension of Pakhtun society emphasizing on the cultural economic physical religious and political factors to women s education A quantitative approach was adopted and the data was collected from 323 male and female respondents of eight Union Councils of District Dir lower using stratified random sampling proportionate method and interview schedule The data was analyzed using SPSS and discussion was made over the collected data The empirical results show that there exists a strong relationship between the structural impediments including system of patriarchy male dominance customs and traditions religious misinterpretation feudalism etc and women s education The analysis further suggested that a comprehensive strategy including provision of education the role of mass media policy making in regard to women s empowerment and religious knowledge and the role of religious leader is basic for brining equality at the educational sphere

    The Department of Sociology would like to apply for a grant to bring to our campus Professor Peter Roche de Coppens for two full days. Professor Roche de Coppens is a Professor of Sociology, Anthropology, and Psychotherapy atEast Stroudsburg University and Adjunct Professor of Education at McGill University in Montreal. He is the author of many books in English, French, and ltalian. Dr. Roche de Coppens has lectured at many universities and research centers around the world. He has trained under Pitirim Sorokin, founder of the sociology department at Harvard University, and Roberto Assagioli of Florence, Italy. In addition to his University work Dr. Roche de Coppens has developed his own radio program, Tools for Living and TV program, Soul Sculpture in Pennsylvania. Since 1987 he has acted as a lecturer and consultant for the United Nations. Professor Roche de Coppens during the last 45 years has tried to integrate the finding and insights of social science with spirituality and holistic health\u2

    Food insecurity is an important and growing issue in the United States. As of 2012, 15.9% of individuals in the United States were food insecure. The USDA defines food insecurity as, Consistent access to adequate food is I imited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year. Our research wi I I compare food insecurity across four counties in Nebraska (Hall and Douglas) and Minnesota (Winona and Ramsey). This poster wi I I include information about two programs aimed at the food insecure: Women, Infants and Children (WIC), and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). We wi I I explore the usage of these two programs across the counties. Pol icy recommendations wi II also be included to address food insecurity within these counties
