This article aims to promote the reflection on the importance of interior architecture in projects of collaborative spaces for work and teaching, in face of the transformations of society. Four cases of Woods Bagot office, a reference in innovative projects in the area of interior architecture, are presented, with the object of elucidating the composition of the internal spaces and their main characteristics against innovation contributing to the practice in interior architecture

    Organizational Politics: Harmful or Helpful?

    Get PDF
Politics play a role in almost every organization – churches, schools, sports teams, and even volunteer organizations. However, the place where politics can directly impact people on a daily basis is the workplace. Literature on organizational politics has historically focused on a negative view of politics. More recently, however, researchers have discovered that workplace politics is not inherently negative and can even include positive traits. This shift primarily began with the work of Gotsis and Kortezi in 2010 and 2011. As researchers sought to expand the perspective, they argued that organizational politics has the potential to be positive, as well. This study examines organizational politics, including the beliefs and experiences of employees from a large, multinational consumer package goods company based in New England. Study participants had varying views on organizational politics and workplace gossip, including whether the terms are negative, neutral, or positive. The study also suggested practical implications regarding organizational politics, including ways organizations can mitigate the negative aspects and enhance the positive characteristics of internal politics

Will the Farm to Fork strategy be effective in changing food consumption behavior? : A health psychology perspective

    Get PDF
Food production accounts for one-third of greenhouse gas emissions; the Farm to Fork strategy aims to make food systems more sustainable and healthier to curb the rising global surface temperature. It includes several actions targeting consumer behavior, including increasing the availability of sustainable and healthy products and mandatory nutritional labeling. The actions address relevant psychological mechanisms; however, the outlined actions are vague and based on only a small number of behavioral determinants that may limit effectiveness. The implementation may furthermore benefit from concepts of implementation science to increase acceptability and feasibility to reach its ambitious goals

Redes sociais como recurso didático – ensaios no ensino da Geografia da UP

    Get PDF

Methodology to Calculate the Costs of a Floating Offshore Renewable Energy Farm

    Get PDF
This paper establishes a general methodology to calculate the life-cycle cost of floating offshore renewable energy devices, applying it to wave energy and wind energy devices. It is accounts for the contributions of the six main phases of their life-cycle: concept definition, design and development, manufacturing, installation, exploitation and dismantling, the costs of which have been defined. Moreover, the energy produced is also taken into account to calculate the Levelized Cost of Energy of a floating offshore renewable energy farm. The methodology proposed has been applied to two renewable energy devices: a floating offshore wave energy device and a floating offshore wind energy device. Two locations have been considered: Aguçadoura and São Pedro de Moel, both in Portugal. Results indicate that the most important cost in terms of the life-cycle of a floating offshore renewable energy farm is the exploitation cost, followed by the manufacturing and the installation cost. In addition, the best area in terms of costs is the same independently of the type of floating offshore renewable energy considered: Aguçadoura. However, the results in terms of Levelized Cost of Energy are different: Aguçadoura is better when considering wave energy technology and the São Pedro de Moel region is the best option when considering floating wind energy technology. The method proposed aims to give a direct approach to calculate the main life-cycle cost of a floating offshore renewable energy farm. It helps to assess its feasibility and evaluating the relevant characteristics that influence it the most
