Early-type Galaxies in the Cluster Abell 2390 at z=0.23
To examine the evolution of the early-type galaxy population in the rich
cluster Abell 2390 at z=0.23 we have gained spectroscopic data of 51 elliptical
and lenticular galaxies with MOSCA at the 3.5 m telescope on Calar Alto
Observatory. This investigation spans both a broad range in luminosity
(-19.3>M_B>-22.3) and uses a wide field of view of 10'x10', therefore the
environmental dependence of different formation scenarios can be analysed in
detail as a function of radius from the cluster centre. Here we present results
on the surface brightness modelling of galaxies where morphological and
structural information is available in the F814W filter aboard the Hubble Space
Telescope (HST) and investigate for this subsample the evolution of the

When life gets in the way: Systematic review of life events, socioeconomic deprivation, and their impact on counselling and psychotherapy with children and adolescents
Background
Life events are recognised to link low socioâeconomic status (SES) with impaired mental health. Despite attention to patientsâ historical environmental circumstances in psychotherapeutic practice, events that occur over the course of counselling and psychotherapy (âintercurrentâ events) seem to have received little attention in research.
Method
Life events were defined to include those that are chronic and severe, as well as minor, everyday occurrences. Outcomes were restricted to internalising problems related to depression and anxiety in child, or adolescent participants. Bibliographic databases and citations and review reference lists were searched, and relevant scholars were contacted. The conceptual and methodological nature of the literature is reported.
Results
This review included 42 studies. Intercurrent events varied in severity and duration. Events were most frequently measured using questionnaires. The same questionnaire was rarely used in more than one study, and questionnaires were often adapted for use for the study's purpose/population. Events included in analyses tended to be analysed as a mediator of change in psychiatric symptomatology, or an outcome of therapy.
Conclusions
Attention to intercurrent life events appears rare in psychotherapy research. This contributes to a systematic neglect of socioâeconomic issues in psychotherapy research and arguably psychotherapy more generally. This neglect is exacerbated by a lack of agreed measures of life events, both intensive and routine in nature. Recommendations are made to improve attention to such events
Weak Lensing Detection of Cl 1604+4304 at z = 0.90
We present a weak lensing analysis of the high-redshift cluster Cl 1604+4304.
At z=0.90, this is the highest-redshift cluster yet detected with weak lensing.
It is also one of a sample of high-redshift, optically-selected clusters whose
X-ray temperatures are lower than expected based on their velocity dispersions.
Both the gas temperature and galaxy velocity dispersion are proxies for its
mass, which can be determined more directly by a lensing analysis. Modeling the
cluster as a singular isothermal sphere, we find that the mass contained within
projected radius R is 3.69+-1.47 * (R/500 kpc) 10^14 M_odot. This corresponds
to an inferred velocity dispersion of 1004+-199 km/s, which agrees well with
the measured velocity dispersion of 989+98-76 km/s (Gal & Lubin 2004). These
numbers are higher than the 575+110-85 km/s inferred from Cl 1604+4304 X-ray
temperature, however all three velocity dispersion estimates are consistent

Survey of users of earth resources remote sensing data
A user survey was conducted to determine current earth resources survey (ERS) data use/user status and recommendations for strengthening use. Only high-altitude aircraft and satellite (primarily LANDSAT) data were included. Emphasis was placed on the private sector/industrial user. Objectives of the survey included: who is using ERS data, how they are using the data, the relative value of current data use as well as obtaining user views as to possible ways of strengthening future ERS data use. The survey results are documented and should provide relevant decision making information for developing future programs of maximum benefit to all end users of satellite ERS data
Spectroscopic follow up of arclets in AC114 with the VLT
We present the first results on the VLT/FORS-1 spectroscopic survey of
amplified sources and multiple images in the lensing cluster AC114. Background
sources were selected in the cluster core, close to the critical lines, using
photometric redshifts combined with lensing inversion criteria. Spectroscopic
results are given, together with a brief summary of the properties of some of

A new deep SCUBA survey of gravitationally lensing clusters
We have conducted a new deep SCUBA survey, which has targetted 12 lensing
galaxy clusters and one blank field. In this survey we have detected several
sub-mJy sources after correcting for the gravitational lensing by the
intervening clusters. We here present the preliminary results and point out two

The LABOCA Survey of the Extended Chandra Deep Field-South: Clustering of Submillimetre Galaxies
We present a measurement of the spatial clustering of submillimetre galaxies (SMGs) at z = 1â3. Using data from the 870 ÎŒm LABOCA submillimetre survey of the Extended Chandra Deep Field South, we employ a novel technique to measure the cross-correlation between SMGs and galaxies, accounting for the full probability distributions for photometric redshifts of the galaxies. From the observed projected two-point cross-correlation function we derive the linear bias and characteristic dark matter halo masses for the SMGs. We detect clustering in the cross-correlation between SMGs and galaxies at the \u3e 4Ï level. Accounting for the clustering of galaxies from their autocorrelation function, we estimate an autocorrelation length for SMGs of r0 = 7.7 +1.8 â2.3 h â1 Mpc assuming a power-law slope Îł = 1.8, and derive a corresponding dark matter halo mass of log(Mhalo[h Mâ]) = 12.8 +0.3 â0.5. Based on the evolution of dark matter haloes derived from simulations, we show that that the z = 0 descendants of SMGs are typically massive (⌠2â3 L) elliptical galaxies residing in moderateto high-mass groups (log(Mhalo[h Mâ]) = 13.3 +0.3 â0.5). From the observed clustering we estimate an SMG lifetime of âŒ100 Myr, consistent with lifetimes derived from gas consumption times and star-formation timescales, although with considerable uncertainties. The clustering of SMGs at z ⌠2 is consistent with measurements for optically-selected quasi-stellar objects (QSOs), supporting evolutionary scenarios in which powerful starbursts and QSOs occur in the same systems. Given that SMGs reside in haloes of characteristic mass ⌠6Ă 10 h Mâ, we demonstrate that the redshift distribution of SMGs can be described remarkably well by the combination of two effects: the cosmological growth of structure and the evolution of the molecular gas fraction in galaxies. We conclude that the powerful starbursts in SMGs likely represent a short-lived but universal phase in massive galaxy evolution, associated with the transition between cold gas-rich, star-forming galaxies and passively evolving systems
