Metastasizing esthesioneuroblastoma in a dog
A 7-year-old Afghan hound presented with a history of disorientation, loss of vision, and seizures. Magnetic resonance imaging helped identify a mass at the level of the main olfactory bulb that compressed and displaced adjacent tissues in the cribriform plate into the nasal cavity and nasopharynx. Bony structures were osteolytic. After removing almost 80% of the mass, the tumor recurred a few months later. Due to severe respiratory distress and subsequent to an ultrasound diagnosis of a liver tumor, the dog was euthanized. In addition to the nasal mass, a single nodule in the liver and multiple nodules in the lung were present. All masses had similar cell morphology and were diagnosed as metastasizing esthesioneuroblastoma. The neoplastic cells expressed neuron-specific enolase and chromogranin A, and a few cells within the nasal mass were positive for cytokeratin. This is the first description of a canine esthesioneuroblastoma with distant metastases
Redefining cybersecurity through processual ontology of the cyberspace
The way cyberspace is conceptualized in security discourses shapes strategies, tools and possible solutions developed within the ICT security debate. Putting forward processual ontology of cyberspace helps in apprehending the unique dynamics of this new domain arising from the intersection of ICT with social and political phenomena. Cyberspace is presented as a process of data transmission and information cognition/processing in the digital domain. It contains time as an inherent dimension and includes all subjects and objects of this process: data (codes, packets, files, texts), information (structured or operationalized data), human and computer agents (people, software) and communication environment (hardware, protocols). Processual ontology is based on the fact that ICT is a man-made realm with almost unlimited potential to expand, where physical distance is lapsed and bits are the primary matter. This theoretical stance blurs the line between human and non-human agents, dehumanizing the idea of actorness by categorizing both humans and computers as actors. Finally, processual ontology of cyberspace promotes resilience strategies both in the private sector as well as on national and international level
The small world phenomenon and assortative mixing in Polish corporate board and director networks
AbstractThis paper investigates the corporate board and director networks in the Polish capital market in 2014. We examined real board and director networks in comparison with networks that were randomly constructed. Through empirical analyses, we demonstrated that the real networks have the characteristics of small-world networks. In addition, the networks are assortative and highly clustered, which imposes certain behaviors on them
Zastosowano trombektomię aspiracyjną systemem 6 F. W koszyczku uwidoczniono dużą ilość odessanego materiału zakrzepowego i zatorowego. Następnie podano dowieńcowo bolus abciksimabu i uzyskano znaczącą redukcję skrzepliny. A case of a 56-year-old male with a diagnosis of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction caused by in-stent thrombosis in a previously impanted bare metal stent after discontinuation of aspirin is presented. On admission there were ST segment elevations in leads II, III, aVF with Q wave in III and aVF in the electrocardiogram. Three years before the admission patient had suffered from inferior wall myocardial infarction and was treated successfully with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) of the right coronary artery with bare metal stent (BMS) implantation. Twelve months after the index PPCI patient stopped receiving all medications including ASA. He felt he was in good health condition and did not need to take medications any longer. For the next 2 years he had never visited doctor for follow-up visit. In current angiography occlusion of the right coronary artery with thrombus was identified. Patient was treated with aspiration thrombectomy which revealed large thrombus burden and with intralesion administration of bolus of abciximab via thrombectomy catheter. Afterwards PCI with drug eluting stent implantation was performed. Patient was discharged home after 5 days. At discharge his antiplatelet therapy consisted of acetylsalicylic acid (75 mg once daily) for life, and clopidogrel (75 mg once daily, for at least 12 months)
Small-Scale Energy Use of Agricultural Biogas Plant Wastes by Gasification
In Poland, there are 78 biogas plants producing a total electrical power of 85.94 MW. The byproduct of biogas plants is called a digestate. A single biogas plant with a power of 500 kW produces more than 10,000 ton of digestate per year. The goal of this chapter is to present a low-cost method of raw digestate processing with water content of about 94.55%, and also the results of thermal gasification of dried and pelletized digestate. Initial dehydration method is based on mechanical separation of the solid fraction in screw separator with a slot filter. Pre-dewatered digestate had been dried in biodrying process in semi-technical scale bioreactor. Afterward, the digestate was dried in tubular dryer and pelletized. The chapter covers the energy consumption for each stage of preparation of digestate for thermal gasification process. The gasification tests were conducted in fixed bed downdraft reactor. The chapter also features the physicochemical properties of digestate used in gasification process. The result of research on the gasification of drier digestate was gaseous fuel that does not differ from the quality of fuels obtained from the thermal treatment of other types of biomass
Study of the Interaction Close to the and Thresholds
The interaction close to the threshold is considered.
Specifically, the pronounced structure seen in production reactions like and around the threshold
is analyzed. Modern interaction models of the coupled
systems generate such a structure either due to the presence of a
(deuteron-like) unstable bound state or of an inelastic virtual state. % A
determination of the position of the prominent peak as observed in various
experiments for the two aforementioned reactions leads to values that agree
quite well with each other. Furthermore, the deduced mean value of MeV for the peak position coincides practically with the threshold energy
of the channel. This supports the interpretation of the structure
as a genuine cusp, signaling an inelastic virtual state in the
partial wave of the isospin 1/2 channel. % There is also evidence
for a second peak (or shoulder) in the data sets considered which appears at
roughly 10-15 MeV above the threshold. However, its concrete
position varies significantly from data set to data set and, thus, a
theoretical interpretation is difficult.Comment: accepted for publication Nucl. Phys.

Dmytro Doncow : publicysta nieznany
The author of the article presents a profile of Dmytro Doncow, a little-known columnist.
The text proves a hypothesis that the writer was a conservatist with an inclination for monarchism.
Being an occidentalist, he was in favour of traditional European values, derived from
Christian faith and ethics, and claimed that the cultural and political future of Ukraine were
integrally related to the future of a European continent. Considering a Ukrainian columnist
a representative of a cycle of fascists and advocates of a national left-wing socialism is a big
academic abuse
