Further Series Studies of the Spin-1/2 Heisenberg Antiferromagnet at T=0: Magnon Dispersion and Structure Factors

We have extended our previous series studies of quantum antiferromagnets at zero temperature by computing the one-magnon dispersion curves and various structure factors for the linear chain, square and simple cubic lattices. Many of these results are new; others are a substantial extension of previous work. These results are directly comparable with neutron scattering experiments and we make such comparisons where possible.Comment: 15 pages, 12 figures, revised versio

Controlling Mixing Inside a Droplet by Time Dependent Rigid-body Rotation

The use of microscopic discrete fluid volumes (i.e., droplets) as microreactors for digital microfluidic applications often requires mixing enhancement and control within droplets. In this work, we consider a translating spherical liquid droplet to which we impose a time periodic rigid-body rotation which we model using the superposition of a Hill vortex and an unsteady rigid body rotation. This perturbation in the form of a rotation not only creates a three-dimensional chaotic mixing region, which operates through the stretching and folding of material lines, but also offers the possibility of controlling both the size and the location of the mixing. Such a control is achieved by judiciously adjusting the three parameters that characterize the rotation, i.e., the rotation amplitude, frequency and orientation of the rotation. As the size of the mixing region is increased, complete mixing within the drop is obtained.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure

The Mott insulator - 10th order perturbation theory extended to infinite order using QMC

We present a new method, based on the combination of analytical and numerical techniques within the framework of the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). Building upon numerically exact results obtained in an improved quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) scheme, 10th order strong-coupling perturbation theory for the Hubbard model on the Bethe lattice is extrapolated to infinite order. We obtain continuous estimates of energy E and double occupancy D with unprecedented precision O(10^{-5}) for the Mott insulator above its stability edge U_{c1}=4.78 as well as critical exponents. The relevance for recent experiments on Cr-doped V_2O_3 is pointed out.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures. Phase Transition in the Three-Dimensional ±J\pm J Ising Spin Glass

We have studied the three-dimensional Ising spin glass with a ±J\pm J distribution by Monte Carlo simulations. Using larger sizes and much better statistics than in earlier work, a finite size scaling analysis shows quite strong evidence for a finite transition temperature, TcT_c, with ordering below TcT_c. Our estimate of the transition temperature is rather lower than in earlier work, and the value of the correlation length exponent, ν\nu, is somewhat higher. Because there may be (unknown) corrections to finite size scaling, we do not completely rule out the possibility that Tc=0T_c = 0 or that TcT_c is finite but with no order below TcT_c. However, from our data, these possibilities seem less likely.Comment: Postscript file compressed using uufiles. Tourism Dynamic Assessment Using Geospatial Approach in Bageshwar District, Uttarakhand

    Get PDF
Dynamics of tourism is a complex thing requires geospatial approach for effective planning and assessment. Geospatial technique for visualization is an innovation and emerging discipline and a valuable tool to recognized the dynamic assessment of tourism, by integrating geospatial data as well as non spatial data in the form of a map display as an outcome. Geospatial visualization approach necessitates the planning which is based on the needs, goals, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of an action plan or programmes. Present study practices a geovisualization of dynamic assessment of tourism in Bageshwar district by integration of spatial and non-spatial data and also explores the suggestions to develop the tourism industry. The study investigated a case study in Bageshwar district. Study area has extensive potentialities for expansion of tourism industry, so in the region there is need to make efforts in this direction and make region more attractive and suitable for tourist as well as region itself. In the present study, an approach has been described the socio-economic development and growth analysis in the study area on account of tourism by linking the geospatial data (spatial & non-spatial). It can be done through the tourist growth. Growth analysis is done through attribute data, as domestic and international tourist arrival data calculated by compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and coefficient of variation that correlates with geospatial data using GIS as tool. The present study presents the tourism development in context of impact aspect and geovisualization done by tourism growth and tourist variation map. The finding reveals that the growth of tourist arrival increased to 3.54 percent during the year 2000 to 2010. The growth of kausani, Baijnath and Bageshwar tourist places of Bageshwar district also shows increment in the annual growth

Tracking Data Acquisition System (TDAS) for the 1990's. Volume 6: TDAS navigation system architecture

One-way range and Doppler methods for providing user orbit and time determination are examined. Forward link beacon tracking, with on-board processing of independent navigation signals broadcast continuously by TDAS spacecraft; forward link scheduled tracking; with on-board processing of navigation data received during scheduled TDAS forward link service intervals; and return link scheduled tracking; with ground-based processing of user generated navigation data during scheduled TDAS return link service intervals are discussed. A system level definition and requirements assessment for each alternative, an evaluation of potential navigation performance and comparison with TDAS mission model requirements is included. TDAS satellite tracking is also addressed for two alternatives: BRTS and VLBI tracking
