This study aims to evaluate the physical fitness improvement after 8 weeks individual strength and conditioning program on B1 Turkish National Football Team, to reveal their motoric differences and to identify strengths and weaknesses of athletes. 11 male athletes (age ranging between 25,09 ± 3,53) in B1 Turkish National Football Team have participated in this study. Out of these athletes, 9 of whom account for B1 visually impaired football players (footballer) and 2 of whom account for a goalkeeper with no disability. Vertical jump, kneel down health ball throwing, sitting and reaching, 20 m speed, auditory reaction, grip strength, right-left had, pro-agility, anaerobic strength and cooper measurements have been applied with the interval of 8 weeks as pre-test and post-test. All statistical analyses have been conducted by using SPSS 13.0 packet program. While a significant difference has been found in 0.05 level in speed, agility, anaerobic strength and maximal oxygen capacity of the B1 football national team (p<0,05), no significant difference has been found out although there is an average improvement between pre-test and post-test in other variables. (p>0,05). No significant difference has been found out between pre-test and post-test statistical values of the variables applied to B1 football national team goalkeepers. (p>0,05). As a result, an improvement in positive level has been observed in overall performance parameters of B1 football national team athletes and individual strength and condition training prepared according to 8 weeks pre-test results. Raising interest of B1 football national team goalkeepers to the training and creating a competitive environment could prove useful in increasing overall performance levels. Article visualizations

Abstract The objective of this study is to examine the personality characteristics of personal and team sportsmen according to some variables. According to this objective, the study included 43 participants from Galatasaray (male), Trabzonspor (male), Abdullah Gül University (female) and Edirnespor (female) basketball teams and 48 voluntary tennis players from ITF. The voluntary participants were asked to apply socio-demographic information form and Personality Scale. The acquired data were statistically analyzed via the IBMM SPSS20.0package software. Personal information about the applicants, as well as the total scores of inventory and factor scores were given by determining thefre quency (f) and percentage (%) values. Relationship between the scores obtained from the scales was presented by using the statistics of Mann-Whitney U test in comparisons according to their gender, sport backgrounds and sport branches. On the other hand, the statistics of Kruskal Wallis test was used in comparisons according to their age. As a consequence, a personality characteristic was associated with age, gender, sport background and branch. This condition is thought to be caused by the fact that sportsmen are trained result-oriented in both their infrastructure and in their lives, are social due to the undeniable contributions of sport, establish a rapid communication, and have the required self-confidence and self-efficacy

WOS: 000451243100006Indroduction: Listening to music has been used as an intervention during treatment, rehabilitation and also in disease prevention. Coronary angiography is an invasive procedure and is stressful for the patient. This randomized controlled trial assessed the effect of listening to music during the coronary angiography on the level of anxiety and physiological parameters. Methods: This randomized controlled trial consisted of 91 patients in the intervention group and 80 patients in the control group. The intervention group listened to music during their angiography procedure (15-20 min on average). The control group received no music intervention. Results: Study data was collected introductory information form, a physiological parameter evaluation form and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. The difference between the mean state anxiety scores during the coronary angiography procedure was not statistically significant between the intervention group and the control group (p > 0.05). There was no difference in heart rate, respiratory rate and diastolic blood pressure between the groups (p > 0.05). However, there was a difference in systolic blood pressure (p < 0.05) and pain (p < 0.001) between the groups. Conclusion: Music listening as an intervention for patients undergoing coronary angiography procedures was highly feasible. Although the intervention was not effective in reducing anxiety levels, systolic blood pressure and pain were significantly lower in patients who listened to music.Scientific Research Project Unit of Aksaray University [2017-043]This study (project no 2017-043) was supported by Scientific Research Project Unit of Aksaray University. A Case of Tubo - Ovarian Actinomycosis

No full text
We presented a case of tubo-ovarian actinomycosis in a patient with an intrauterine device (IUD). The patient was referred to our clinic with a diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease. Magnetic resonance imaging analysis indicated a cystic lesion (6.6x8x8 cm) on the left over. After performing total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy, histopathological studies showed a tubo-ovarian abscess and typical sulphur granules surrounded by neutrophils associated with actinomycosis. This case indicated that if clinicians are aware of actinomycosis in patients using IUCDs, the formation of tubo-ovarian abscess and thus excessive surgical procedures can be prevented

Aim: We aimed to reveal the clinical, laboratory, radiological findings of infarction in the renal artery and itsbranches due to thrombosis, its effects on renal functions and the measures to be taken. Methods: The study sample included 8 patients who were admitted to the emergency department of KutahyaUniversity of Health Sciences Evliya Celebi Training and Research Hospital between 2018-2020, and who werehospitalized with the diagnosis of acute renal infarction. Patients were retrospectively analyzed with clinicalfindings, CT angiography-abdomen, clinical observations, prognosis and complications. Results: Of the patients, 5 were male and 3 were female. The mean age was 55.13 (29-69) years. One patientpresented with bilateral renal infarction, while 7 had unilateral renal infarction. The etiology of the patients wasidiopathic in 2, atrial fibrilation (AF) in 3 patients, and atherosclerosis in 3 patient. The mean serum creatinineof 1.24 (0.7-3.2) mg/dl and the mean blood leukocyte level of 16925 (11000-26000) mcL were determined. Themean length of hospital stay was 4.6 (3-7) days. Anticoagulant therapy was initiated in all patients for risk ofrecurrent renal infarction and thromboembolism. Conclusion: We revealed that renal infarction, rarely seen in urology practice, has nonspecific clinical findings;therefore, it should be kept in mind in differential diagnosis for patients presenting with sudden-onset oblique orabdominal pain, and that diagnosis can be made using contrast-enhanced CT. We determined that AF andvalvular heart diseases which cause atherosclerosis and cardiac thrombosis play an important role in theetiology. </p

Microwave Discharge Ion Sources (MDIS) are one of the high current ion sources which doesn't require maintenance for long time. Basic components are a microwave source, a plasma chamber, input gas, waveguides to transfer power from source to plasma chamber, solenoids which satisfy ECR condition above the plasma chamber, the gas for required ion type, a vacumm chamber and an extraction system to transfer ions from plasma chamber to beamline. In this study we aim to upgrade the existing 8 keV MDIS to a H+ machine providing a 1 mA, 20 keV beam. Additionally, a Low Energy Beam Transfer (LEBT) line is designed and manufactured to transfer the 20KeV protons to a RFQ. The performance of the LEBT Line is optimized via simulation studies using Travel Software. Currently the commissioning of the LEBT's solenoid magnets is ongoing. This study is supported by Istanbul University Scientific Research Comssion Project id: 3325
