The Impact of African American Skin Tone Bias in the Workplace: Implications for Critical Human Resource Development
The impact of skin tone bias among African Americans in the workplace was examined utilizing grounded theory. The data revealed the harmful personal and workplace effects of the phenomenon. Findings suggest that there is a silencing of issues of race, power, and privilege in organizations. The author recommends utilizing a critical human resource development perspective in order to explore and address systems of privilege that silence employees and perpetuate inequities in the workplace
Simplicity of algebras associated to \'etale groupoids
We prove that the C*-algebra of a second-countable, \'etale, amenable
groupoid is simple if and only if the groupoid is topologically principal and
minimal. We also show that if G has totally disconnected unit space, then the
associated complex *-algebra introduced by Steinberg is simple if and only if
the interior of the isotropy subgroupoid of G is equal to the unit space and G
is minimal.Comment: The introduction has been updated and minor changes have been made
throughout. To appear in Semigroup Foru
Leveraging Generational Diversity in Today’s Workplace
Generational diversity has been noted as an obstacle for many U.S. organizations, yet there is a lack of understanding of how to leverage generational diversity in the workplace. This unawareness could be disastrous for companies wanting to increase economic wealth through human capital. The purpose of this paper is to identify the dilemma that exists when multiple generations coexist in the workplace and identify strategies that promote efficiency and improve employee communication and morale. The authors recommend developing new and innovative diversity training and incorporating an intergenerational mentoring program

Devalued, Misunderstood, and Marginalized: Why Nontraditional Students’ Experiences Should be Included in the Diversity Discourse
Objective: This paper presents a rationale for discussing the marginalization of nontraditional students in the diversity discourse. Background: There is tremendous growth in adult college student enrollment, however marginalization of the nontraditional population is perpetuated through institutional policies and practices. Although there has been improvement in educational access for these students, they are still neglected programmatically and in service provision, similar to underrepresented student populations. This neglect is apparent in the omission of their experiences in scholarly diversity literature. Method: A content analysis of 706 sources was conducted to determine how often and in what ways nontraditional adult student experiences are explored as diversity issues. Results: A huge gap in the diversity literature regarding nontraditional adult students’ experiences exists. Conclusion: This oversight silences adult students’ voices and impedes their academic and economic progress. Application: Increasing diversity publications about adult students’ experiences as a marginalized population will provide resources to educate diversity scholars, practitioners, and college personnel
______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis study aims to analyze the communication used by the retail corporation Walmart Brazil about its environmental responsibility program called Club of Producers, which provides access to markets for family farmers. From in-depth interviews with producers and content analysis, it seeks to verify the clarity and accuracy of business communication. The information provided by the company were compared with the perspectives of agroecological farmers in a selected sample within the territory of
Borborema, state of Paraíba. The research findings revealed that respondents are heterogeneous as to their motivations to access the markets. They make use of a wide range of sales opportunities, especially agroecological fairs where direct sale to the consumer provides non-market social relations. Moreover, the Walmart documents on sustainability and environmental responsibility are vague and without substance, which can negatively impact the credibility of the corporation
