Iniciativa de arquivos abertos como nova forma de comunicação científica

The Great innovations that information and communication technologies brought revolutionized possibilities of communication among scientists, above all, to disseminate and share results of researches. A group of researchers from United States and Europa has been developed a set of standard, tecnologies solutions and ideals to promote open access, to make feasible and to stimulate web publishing through models of business and self-supporting. This "subversive" proposal, named of The Open Archives Initiative – OAI, stimules wide distribution and visibility of the papers deposits there without fee to promote fair use in benefit of science, on the contrary commercial periodicals, in which scientist must to pay to use information. From among the models developed through OAI, will be distached eprints repositories, that is based on self-archiving, tranparency in spontaneous peer review and constitution of new versions to the same paper through those peer reviews. Will be present Arena Cientifica, a proposal of discipline repository to Communications Sciences based in this specific model from OAI. This projetc is a result of research of doctor thesis

Estratégias para implementação de repositórios da UNIRIO

This paper refers to the project of creation of repositories UNIRIO. It aims to describe the process of developing this initiative by the theoretical reference and the applied methodologies. The project will be implemented by three digital repositories: institutional, disciplinary and experimental, which will constitute a fertile field for study, research and development of professional practices, as well academic and outreach activities that allows high level studies

O mapeamento dos repositórios institucionais brasileiros: perfil e desafios

O estudo tem por objetivo mapear os repositórios institucionais brasileiros até o período de maio de 2017 a fim de retratar a situação atual e contribuir com subsídios para orientar as ações e diretrizes nacionais e internacionais para implementação de repositórios ou sua integração em rede. O Estudo foi baseado em um levantamento exaustivo de repositórios brasileirospor meio de fontes específicas e pela observação direta. As análises foram baseadas nas variáveis: a) número de artigos e volume total de itens para identificar os repositórios alinhados ao Acesso Aberto Verde; b) tipos de financiamento recebidos além do apoio da própria instituição como indicadores de sua manutenção e permanência; c) verificação da qualidade dos repositórios por meio do indicador gerado pela fonte The Ranking Web of World Repositories que avalia visibilidade e impacto.Foi verificado que cerca de 54,5% dos repositórios concentram 97,5% do total de artigos dentre os 101 repositórios identificados no país. Um terço dos repositórios receberam financiamento direto ou indireto do governo brasileiro e representam 20% do total de artigos depositados. O total de 45,5% dos repositórios foram qualificados no The Ranking Web of World Repositories. Apesar dos dados apontarem para a concentração de repositórios cumprindo o Acesso Aberto Verde foram observadas dificuldades em relação ao apoio institucional e qualidade (visibilidade e impacto). O estudo recomenda que o governo brasileiro estabeleça diretrizes nacionais e políticas específicas para fomentar as boas práticas em repositórios no país com o objetivo de fortalecer o desenvolvimento do Acesso Aberto Verde

This paper discusses the challenges of scientific and technical information control and organization in relation to current proposals of scholarly communication, presenting eprints repositories as one of the business models. The project Arena Científica from Portcom is presented as a specific example of the communication studies area for countries of Portuguese language. This project aims to promote the dissemination and preservation of scholarly production and, specially, engage researchers of this area into international movement of open access to scholarly information

The challenges of embargo policies in Institutional Repositories: a study of collections of theses and dissertations in Brazilian research institutes and universities

This present work aims to analyze the Access Policies of institutional repositories (RIs) of Brazilian universities and research institutes in the first positions of the Brazil Web of Repositories Ranking through methodological research from the digital addresses of the selected repositories, producing a qualitative and quantitative analysis of data by means of graphs and tables, highlighting the divergence of the results. It aims to clarify the practices of the production embargo of theses and dissertations foreseen in the policies of these RIs and evaluates the condition of the policies of these repositories. It establishes, based on the results and in the literature, that there is a need for the creation of guidelines at national level for the elaboration and standardisation of repositories for the greater organisation and guarantee of Open Access

Revisiones y Reflexiones. Alfabetización informativa en las Escuelas: el papel del licenciado en Bibliotecología

Taking into account the new trends in Information Literacy that a teacher requires in a classroom and a librarian in the library to guarantee the necessary integration of theoretical practical contents, the objective of this article is to present an international debate on the role of a teacher and of a librarian in secondary schools via documentary research. Thus, we highlight the importance of a bachelor of Library Science as a professional who combines necessary knowledge of Library Science and teaching to promote teaching and learning based on the development of information literacy skills and learning in schools. The issues raised shall be useful to reflect on a proposal to incorporate contents in information literacy, both in teacher training, especially in the training Bachelors of Library Science, and secondary school student training. This strategy is considered an alternative to strengthen young men and women's training to acquire the knowledge necessary to develop autonomy and students' critical sense in a scenario of data saturation

Comunicação científica e o protocolo OAI: uma proposta na área das Ciências da Comunicação

A comunicação científica se mostra imprescindível para o desenvolvimento da ciência e das atividades dos cientistas. Neste contexto, este trabalho busca analisar um novo formato de publicação eletrônica (mais especificamente o repositório digital ‘open archives’), partindo de uma reflexão sobre o sistema tradicional de comunicação científica, de modo a definir um projeto de planejamento e implementação de um repositório temático na área de Ciências da Comunicação. Em síntese, descreve-se o caminho percorrido pela equipe da PORTCOM (Rede de Informação em Ciências da Comunicação dos Países de Língua Portuguesa) durante a fase inicial de concepção do projeto Arena Científica junto aos pesquisadores dos núcleos de pesquisa da INTERCOM (Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Interdisciplinares da Comunicação). Neste texto, apresenta-se resumidamente conceitos e definições que norteiam a estrutura dos arquivos abertos

Origem e fundamentos do processo de desenvolvimento de coleções no Brasil: estudo de caso da Biblioteca Nacional

It presents the origins and foundations of the process of collection development in Brazil based on authors of the XIX Century and in the Course of Librarianship of the National Library (Brazil) among 1915 to 1949. It adopts the documental research method to identify authors of the XIX Century in the Rare Collection at UNIRIO, that supported the course in the past, and to carry out a survey about the programs of disciplines, the complemental documents and annual reports of the National Library in order to do correspondences between theory and practice. It contributes to a revision of the theory of the collection development that leans on strongly in authors of English language
