    El enfoque integrado de lengua y contenido en un contexto AICLE requiere metodologías que proporcionan andamios que soportan el aprendizaje y permiten a los alumnos adquirir nuevos conceptos mientras desarrollan su competencia interactiva (CI) en lengua extranjera (LE) (Escobar Urmeneta, enprogreso). Al mismo tiempo, en un aula AICLE de ciencias se tratan las mismas cuestiones inherentes a la instrucción de ciencia, tales como promover la expresión por parte de los alumnos de sus conceptos previos para así facilitar el proceso de cambio conceptual. Este estudio cualitativo en un aula AICLE de ciencias de bachillerato tiene como propósito explorar distintos modelos de interacción durante una tarea manipulativa de una simulación genética para constatar (a) cómo la interacción en el aula induce al desarrollo de la CI en la LE y (2) cómo esta misma interacción puede facilitar la emergencia de conceptos previos o alternativos por parte de los alumnos y hacer posible el siguiente proceso de cambio conceptual

    Investigating Modern Communication Technologies: The effect of Internet-based Communication Technologies on the Investigation Process

    Communication technologies are commonplace in modern society. For many years there were only a handful of communication technologies provided by large companies, namely the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and mobile telephony; these can be referred to as traditional communication technologies. Over the lifetime of traditional communication technologies has been little technological evolution and as such, law enforcement developed sound methods for investigating targets using them. With the advent of communication technologies that use the Internet – Internet-based or contemporary communication technologies – law enforcement are faced with many challenges. This paper discusses these challenges and their potential impact. It first looks at what defines the two technologies then explores the laws and methods used for their investigation. It then looks at the issues of applying the current methodologies to the newer and fundamentally different technology. The paper concludes that law enforcement will be required to update their methods in order to remain effective against the current technology trends

    The issues faced by law enforcement authorities concerning VoIP are very different from that of traditional telephony. VoIP provides strong encryption and a decentralised databased network. Wiretapping is not applicable to VoIP calls and packet capturing is negated by encryption. New methods are required to collect evidence from systems running VoIP software. This paper presents work in progress and, based on a literature review of the field, explores a methodology that may be used to advance this research area

Assembling the relevant available data on OVC in one place, and acknowledging the gaps that still exist in our knowledge, will assist policy makers and program implementers to make evidence-based decisions about how best to direct funding and program activities and maximize positive outcomes for children and their caretakers.This Research Situation Analysis on OVC presents a program-focused summary of available information on: • Current policies, programs and interventions designed and implemented to assist them • Gaps in these policies, programs and interventions • OVC research conducted between 2004-2008 • Gaps in the Nigerian OVC evidence base. The Brief analyzes the available data for critical gaps in the national response and our understanding about whether current interventions are fulfilling the needs and improving the lives of vulnerable children. The report then recommends actions required to increase the knowledge base for improving the effectiveness and impact of OVC programs.The USAID | Project SEARCH, Orphans and Vulnerable Children Comprehensive Action Research (OVC-CARE) Task Order, is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development under Contract No. GHH-I-00-07-00023-00, beginning August 1, 2008.     Adding up the Flipped Subscription Model

    One of the common pathways proposed to achieving a global open access scholarly publishing model is the “flipped” approach. In this scenario, journal publishers “flip” their pricing model from subscription to gold open access (gold OA) and library budgets are redirected from supporting subscriptions to Article Publishing Costs (APCs) associated with gold OA. Initiatives such as OA2020, and more recently Plan S, have to varying degrees advocated for this approach. Underlying the flipped model is the assumption there is enough money in the global academic library subscription system to cover the costs of a scholarly publishing model based on APCs. A number of studies have tested this assumption including the Mellon Foundation Pay It Forward report which focused on large, research intensive universities in North America and the Max Planck Digital Library Open Access Policy white paper which used global market reports and publishing figures to derive their calculations. However, is this assumption valid for other sized universities or using different analytical approaches? In 2018, the Matariki Network of Universities (an international collaborative venture of seven medium sized universities) used its unique partnership to test this assumption for medium-sized universities using shared subscription and publishing data. The project had two specific objectives. Firstly, to determine if the amount of money paid by Matariki institutions for journal subscriptions both individually and collectively is enough to cover APC costs of a flipped model. Secondly, to determine what the average APC cost would need to be if each Matariki institution only had their subscription budget to cover gold OA publishing. This paper describes the approach taken in the study and outlines the findings in comparison to other studies. It will also discuss the implications of the results in the context of current initiatives supporting a flipped model
