    Rational bubbles in emerging stockmarkets

    Get PDF
We detected rational bubbles in 22 emerging stockmarkets using both standard and threshold cointegration. Eighteen stockmarkets experienced explosive bubbles (and some of them periodically collapsing bubbles as well). The remaining four markets experienced periodically collapsing bubbles only.bubbles; stockmarkets; emerging markets

Latin American foreign exchange intervention - Updated

    Get PDF
We examine Latin American foreign exchange intervention in a framework where the exchange rate regime is endogenous and there exists an inefficient, equilibrium foreign exchange intervention bias. The model suggests that greater central bank independence is associated with lesser intervention in the foreign exchange market, and also with leaning-against-the-wind intervention. Both results are confirmed by data from 13 Latin American countries.foreign exchange intervention; exchange rates; Latin America

Foreign exchange intervention and central bank independence: The Latin American experience

    Get PDF
Employing data from 13 Latin American countries, we find that greater central bank independence is associated with lesser intervention in the foreign exchange market, and also with leaning-against-the-wind intervention. We also find that the structural reforms that occurred in Latin America mostly in the 1990s helped to reduce the need for foreign exchange intervention.central bank independence; foreign exchange intervention; Latin America

Evaluation of health, production parameters, time to first detected estrus, and behavior in dairy cows treated with pegbovigrastim

    Get PDF
Pegbovigrastim injection (IMR) represents a new approach in overcoming mastitis. The objective of this study was to evaluate production parameters, overall health, time to first detected heat, and behavior of cows treated with IMR or a saline control. Study cows (n = 270) were blocked by parity group (multiparous or primiparous) and randomly assigned to control (CON, n = 144) or treatment (IMR, n = 126). Milk yield, fat, protein, lactose, solids nonfat percent, somatic cell count, and body condition, hygiene, and lameness were evaluated weekly. Animals were evaluated for metritis twice weekly via evaluation of rectal temperature, per rectum palpation, and uterine discharge until 30 days in milk. Farm staff recorded occurrence of other diseases. Neck tag and a leg tag, each with activity monitoring sensors, measured behavior and time to first detected estrus. The occurrence of clinical mastitis did not differ between treatments. Treated cows were 2.46 times more likely to develop metritis compared to control cows. Cows given IMR had increased odds of developing metritis, without altering mastitis occurrence, production parameters, behavior, and time to first heat in lactating dairy cows

Global phase portraits of Kukles differential systems with homogenous polynomial nonlinearities of degree 5 having a center and their small limit cycles

    Get PDF
We provide the nine topological global phase portraits in the Poincaré disk of the family of the centers of Kukles polynomial differential systems of the form x = -y, y= x ax^5y bx^3y^3 cxy^5, where x,y\R and a,b,c are real parameters satisfying a^2 b^2 c^2 0. Using averaging theory up to sixth order we determine the number of limit cycles which bifurcate from the origin when we perturb this system first inside the class of all homogeneous polynomial differential systems of degree 6, and second inside the class of all polynomial differential systems of degree 6

Amazon and Brazilian Foreign Policy: Analysis of Deforestation Index in the Lula and Bolsonaro Governments

    Get PDF
The international protagonist of the Amazon has gained ground in Brazil s foreign policy and the rate of deforestation in the region is one of the indicators of this importance Due to the current focus on the Amazon the federal government needs to justify the increase in deforestation and present plans to reduce these rates Realizing the need to better understand the topic this paper aims to analyze the foreign policy actions developed for the Amazon in the Lula 2003-2010 and Bolsonaro 2019-2022 governments focusing on forest management considering the beginning of historical monitoring in 1988 made by the Amazon Deforestation Monitoring Program In addition the discussion also contemplates Brazil s performance within the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda The results of this survey show that the lowest continuous rates of deforestation occurred between 2005 and 2011 while the highest deforestation rates were registered between 2019 to 202

This paper presents favorable piece of evidence of the relationship between the Brazilian real output and its stockmarket. Neglecting this fact may jeopardize current price stability and economic growth.Economia brasileira; PIB real; Bovespa
