A thesis submitted to the University of Bedfordshire in accordance with the requirements for the degree of Doctor of PhilosophyCryopreservation of fish ovarian tissue fragments can be a viable alternative to cryopreservation of oocytes and embryos. The ability to cryopreserve both maternal and paternal gametes would provide a reliable source of fish genetic material for scientific and aquaculture purposes. The main aim of the present study was to develop an in-vitro culture protocol and cryopreservation protocol for zebrafish ovarian tissue fragments. In-vitro culture protocol for the tissue fragments containing stage I and stage II follicles were developed and the growth assessment of follicles were evaluated using biomarkers. To develop the cryopreservation protocol using control slow cooling method, the effect on freezing medium, cryoprotectants and cooling rate on the tissue fragments were investigated. The in-vitro culture experiments showed that L-15 medium (pH 9) containing 100mIU/ml FSH along with 20% FBS was effective for tissue fragments containing stage I and II follicles to grow in-vitro. The growth of the ovarian follicle stages was confirmed by the level of expression of p450aromA and vtg1 gene. The optimal cryopreservation protocol for the ovarian tissue fragments was found as 2M methanol+ 20%FBS in 90% L-15 medium with the cooling rate of 4°C/min. Although the highest survival rate obtained for stage II follicles within the fragments was 68.2±1.9% and stage I follicles within the fragments was 55.4±2.3% using TB staining, it showed a significant decrease in their ATP levels. This is the first study carried out on the zebrafish ovarian tissue fragments. Study on cryopreservation of the ovarian tissue fragments and development of the in-vitro culture protocol and use of biomarkers for the ovarian tissue fragments were reported here for the first time. The outcomes of this study have provided useful information for future cryopreservation protocol development

Consumer Attitudes toward Mobile Advertising in India: The Role of Personalization

Mobile phones happen to be one of the gadgets that has attained rapid proliferation among people. Marketers have realized the immense potential this gadget possesses to reach their target consumers and have started using mobile phones as a medium to communicate with their customers. This study is carried out with an objective to examine the factors that affect the attitude of customers towards mobile advertising in India with particular emphasis on personalization. Data was collected from 200 respondents selected from all over India who were aged 18 years and above and use mobile phones. The results of regression and SEM analysis proved that personalization, entertainment, irritation and informativeness have significant influence on attitude and attitude, then, influences the intention to purchase. However, credibility was not found to have any significant influence on attitude

An Application of Path Sharing To Routing For Mobile Sinks In Wireless Sensor Networks

Power Conservation is one of the most important challenges in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we present a minimum-energy routing algorithm. Our main goal is to reduce power consumed and prolong the lifespan of the network. The rotocol, named CODEXT: Coordinationbased Data dissemination for Sensor Networks eXTension, addresses the sensor networks consisting of mobile sinks. CODEXT which is an improvement over CODE protocol Coordination-based Data dissemination for sensor networks considers energy conservation not only in communication but also in idle-to-sleep state. Better informed routing decisions can often be made by sharing information among neighbouring nodes. To this end, we describe the CODEXT protocol, a generic outline for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) protocols that focuses on locally sharing feedback with little or no overhead. This paper describes one instantiation of it, CODEXT protocol for optimizing routing to multiple sinks through reinforcement learning. Such a routing situation arises in WSNs with multiple, possibly mobile sinks, such as WSNs with actuators deployed in parallel to sensors. This protocol is based on GAF protocol and grid structure to reduce energy consumed. Our simulation results show that CODEXT gain energy efficiency and prolong the network lifetime. The objective of this research were to study antioxidants and antioxidant compounds from selected eight varieties of banana and the antioxidant activity were analysed using two methods such as total antioxidant activity and DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity using different solvents such as petroleum ether, methanol and water. In the present study revealed that variety Red banana showed highest β carotene and (8.53 µg/100g). Ascorbic acid content of banana varieties ranged between 1.52 - 5.35 mg/100g. Highest ascorbic acid content was noticed in Red banana (5.35 mg). Highest dopamine content was exhibited in variety Robusta (13.3 mg/100g) and lowest was found in variety Rasakadali (3.2mg/100g). The total antioxidant activity revealed that variety Robusta had the highest DPPH activity with an IC50 value of 43.6 µg/ ml in petroleum ether solvent. With regard to total antioxidant activity, variety Padatti exhibited highest activity with an IC50 value of 41.2 µg/ ml in petroleum ether while variety Rasakadali (48.4) and Poovan (48.4) showed maximum activity in methanol followed by variety Red banana with an IC50 value of 44.4 µg/ ml in methanol

A STUDY ON SHOPPER’S EXPERIENCE IN SHOPPING MALL BASED ON THE SERVICE QUALITY FACTORS

In the modern world, shopping has become an essential routine for the people living in our country. Shopping mall is viewed not only as a purchasing centre but also as an area for the people to get together, socialize as well as for finding entertainment, etc. Since, a transition can be noticed from the traditional shopping centre to an area of community engagement, the proposed study focuses on understanding various service quality factors offered by the shopping mall and also its implications. The paper also investigates the demographic nature of the respondents where the significance between each group is taken into consideration. The structural equation modelling analysis provides important insights to understanding the impacts of different quality components on shopping experiences across. Based on the test performed, it is found out that all the three independent variables are having a positive impact on the shopper’s response and also the demographic study states that there is a significant difference in the shopper’s response across the different age groups.   Keywords:  Service Quality, Shoppers Response and Personal Attentio
