ОБЧИСЛЮВАЛЬНА СХЕМА ІДЕНТИФІКАЦІЇ РОЗПОДІЛІВ З КЛАСУ НОРМАЛЬНОГО
A computing scheme for identification and restoration of distribution from normal distribution class is offered. It is notable for identification of a spline-normal distribution by automatic search of spline nodes on a probability paper.

Mie-resonances, infrared emission and band gap of InN
Mie resonances due to scattering/absorption of light in InN containing
clusters of metallic In may have been erroneously interpreted as the infrared
band gap absorption in tens of papers. Here we show by direct thermally
detected optical absorption measurements that the true band gap of InN is
markedly wider than currently accepted 0.7 eV. Micro-cathodoluminescence
studies complemented by imaging of metallic In have shown that bright infrared
emission at 0.7-0.8 eV arises from In aggregates, and is likely associated with
surface states at the metal/InN interfaces.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, submitted to PR
High-resolution measurement of the time-modulated orbital electron capture and of the decay of hydrogen-like Pm ions
The periodic time modulations, found recently in the two-body orbital
electron-capture (EC) decay of both, hydrogen-like Pr and
Pm ions, with periods near to 7s and amplitudes of about 20%,
were re-investigated for the case of Pm by using a 245 MHz
resonator cavity with a much improved sensitivity and time resolution. We
observed that the exponential EC decay is modulated with a period s, in accordance with a modulation period s as obtained
from simultaneous observations with a capacitive pick-up, employed also in the
previous experiments. The modulation amplitudes amount to and
for the 245 MHz resonator and the capacitive pick-up,
respectively. These new results corroborate for both detectors {\it exactly}
our previous findings of modulation periods near to 7s, though with {\it
distinctly smaller} amplitudes. Also the three-body decays have been
analyzed. For a supposed modulation period near to 7s we found an amplitude , compatible with and in agreement with the preliminary
result of our previous experiment. These observations could
point at weak interaction as origin of the observed 7s-modulation of the EC
decay. Furthermore, the data suggest that interference terms occur in the
two-body EC decay, although the neutrinos are not directly observed.Comment: In memoriam of Prof. Paul Kienle, 9 pages, 1 table, 5 figures Phys.

Schottky mass measurements of heavy neutron-rich nuclides in the element range 70\leZ \le79 at the ESR
Storage-ring mass spectrometry was applied to neutron-rich Au
projectile fragments. Masses of Lu, Hf, Ta,
W, and Re nuclei were measured for the first time. The
uncertainty of previously known masses of W and Os nuclei
was improved. Observed irregularities on the smooth two-neutron separation
energies for Hf and W isotopes are linked to the collectivity phenomena in the
corresponding nuclei.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures, 2 table
Increased isomeric lifetime of hydrogen-like Os-192m
An excited metastable nuclear state of 192 Os in a hydrogen-like charge state has been studied for the first time. It was populated in projectile fragmentation of a 197Au beam on a 9Be target with the UNILAC-SIS accelerators at GSI. Fragmentation products in the region of interest were passed through the fragment separator and injected into the experimental storage ring (ESR). Cooling of the injected beam particles enabled Schottky mass spectrometry to be performed. Analysis shows the lifetime of the state to be considerably longer than that of the neutral ion [τneut=8.5(14) s]; this change is attributed to hindrance of internal conversion in hydrogen-like 192Os. Calculations have been performed to estimate the lifetime, and the result has been compared with that measured experimentally. There is good agreement between the expected [τH−like=13.0(24)s] and measured lifetimes (τrest=15.1+1.5−1.3s) from the internal decay of 192mOs. This provides a test for the reliability of the values obtained from internal conversion coefficient calculations in highly ionized systems and is the first measurement of its kind to be performed using the ESR setup
Metal Hydrides Form Halogen Bonds: Measurement of Energetics of Binding
The formation of halogen bonds from iodopentafluorobenzene and 1-iodoperfluorohexane to a series of bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)metal hydrides (Cp2TaH3, 1; Cp2MH2, M = Mo, 2, M = W, 3; Cp2ReH, 4; Cp2Ta(H)CO, 5; Cp = η5-cyclopentadienyl) is demonstrated by 1H NMR spectroscopy. Interaction enthalpies and entropies for complex 1 with C6F5I and C6F13I are reported (ΔH° = −10.9 ± 0.4 and −11.8 ± 0.3 kJ/mol; ΔS° = −38 ± 2 and −34 ± 2 J/(mol·K), respectively) and found to be stronger than those for 1 with the hydrogen-bond donor indole (ΔH° = −7.3 ± 0.1 kJ/mol, ΔS° = −24 ± 1 J/(mol·K)). For the more reactive complexes 2–5, measurements are limited to determination of their low-temperature (212 K) association constants with C6F5I as 2.9 ± 0.2, 2.5 ± 0.1, <1.5, and 12.5 ± 0.3 M–1, respectively

Prevalence and factors affecting home blood pressure documentation in routine clinical care: a retrospective study

Abstract

Background

Home blood pressure (BP) is closely linked to patient outcomes. However, the prevalence of its documentation has not been examined. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence and factors affecting documentation of home BP in routine clinical care.

Methods

A retrospective study of 142,973 encounters of 9,840 hypertensive patients with diabetes from 2000 to 2005 was performed. The prevalence of recorded home BP and the factors associated with its documentation were analyzed. We assessed validity of home BP information by comparing the difference between home and office BP to previously published prospective studies.

Results

Home BP was documented in narrative notes for 2.08% of encounters where any blood pressure was recorded and negligibly in structured data (EMR flowsheets). Systolic and diastolic home BP in narrative notes were lower than office BP readings by 9.6 and 2.5 mm Hg, respectively (p < 0.0001 for both), consistent with prospective data. Probability of home BP documentation increased by 23.0% for each 10 mm Hg of office systolic BP (p < 0.0001), by 6.2% for each $10,000 in median income of zip code (p = 0.0055), and by 17.7% for each decade in the patient's age (p < 0.0001).

Conclusions

Home BP readings provide a valid representation of the patient's condition, yet are seldom documented despite their potential utility in both patient care and research. Strong association between higher patient income and home BP documentation suggests that the cost of the monitors may be a limiting factor; reimbursement of home BP monitoring expenses should be pursued.</p
