Using Discussion Board as the Medium to Improve the Skill in Writing a Recount Text
This study is aimed to improve the students\u27 skill in writing a recount text through the use of discussion board. The subject consists of twenty seven eighth graders. This study was carried out in one cycle. The cycle consisted of five meetings including the registration process on discussion board, prewriting and drafting in face to face classroom environment, and the process of revising, editing and publishing stage on discussion board. The data of the study were taken from the observation checklist, field notes, questionnaire and the students\u27 final product. The findings of the study revealed that the discussion board was successful in improving the skill in writing a recount text of the eighth graders. The improvement was indicated by the increase of the students\u27 writing scores, the students\u27 participation in writing activities and the students\u27 positive responses after the implementation of discussion board
THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PEER FEEDBACK STRATEGY FOR WRITING INSTRUCTION AT THE FIRST SEMESTER OF WRITING 1 CLASS AT MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF METRO
ABSTRACTPeer feedback is one alternative strategy that can be used by the teacher/lecturer when conducting teaching writing. The procedure of the strategy enables the students to work cooperatively in a group/peer. The students can give comments on their classmates’writing for better quality writing. They also can learn how to revise their own text based on comments from peers. Peer feedback can be one solution to minimize the errors made by the students in their writing. The implementation of peer feedback in the classroom offers beneficial effects for the students either as the writers or as the readers. This method is appropriate design in improving the students writing ability. Â
COMPARATIVE STUDY ON READING COMPREHENSION BETWEEN STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN CITY AND RURAL AREA
This study is aimed to: (1) find out the differences on reading comprehension between students of junior high school in city and rural area, (2) to find out factors that causes differences on reading comprehension between students in city and rural area. This resarch was carried out in SMPN 1 Serang, SMPN 1 Cilegon, SMPN 1 Picung and SMPN 1 Banjarsari. The method used was quantitative method in the form of comparative study. The writer used Ex Post Facto Design in this research. The population of the research was all the third year students of those four schools. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The writer took 80 students for the sample. The instruments for collecting data were questionnaire, interview, test and also unstructured observation. The technique used to analyze data was T-Test separated variance and polled variance. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference of students reading comprehension between students in city and rural area. It can be seen from the result of the test. Based on questionnaire which were given to the students and interview for the teacher, the researcher could find out the factors that cause differences on reading comprehension between students in city and rural area, such as the students’ interest, motivation of students, teaching methodology, reading material, vocabulary mastery, and culture
ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE COMMUNICATION OF THE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY
The use of the Internet is one of the solutions to tackle the communication problems during the covid-19 pandemic. Online activity, which can be done to facilitate learning a language, especially English, is preferable to be synchronous and asynchronous online communication. This research focuses on using asynchronous online communication of the learning management system to enhance students' writing ability in pre-intermediate writing subjects during the covid-19 pandemic. The method of the research is a quantitative method with One-Group Pretest-posttest design. The research population is the second-semester students, and the sample of the research is pre-intermediate writing class C, which consists of 23 students. The data analysis results show that the student's average score on the pre-test is 76.96, and the mean score of the post-test is 79.83, which means that the mean score of the post-test is higher than the mean score of the pre-test. In other words, the gained score is 2.87. Wilcoxon test for non-parametric statistics is applied to decide the hypothesis. The calculation of the test statistic showed that the z test result is 2.62 with a 2-tailed significance is 0.009. It indicates that the result is significant since 0.009 is less than 0.05 (0.009 < 0.05). It means that the Null hypothesis (H0)Â is rejected, while the Alternative hypothesis (H1) Â is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using asynchronous online communication of the learning management system (www.schoology.com) on students' writing ability. The study implies that this LMS model is visible in ELT, especially to improve the students' four skills, such as writing ability

Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension By Using Think-Aloud Strategy
The problems of this research is the students are difficult to find the information from the text. The objective of this class action research are: (1) to know how far Think-aloud strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension and; (2) to know how the process of teaching reading by using Think-Aloud Strategy at eleventh grade of SMK Kartikatama Metro in academic year 2017/2018. The method of this research is clasroom action research that consist of two cycles. The subject of this research is the students of Accounting Class eleventh grade of SMK Kartikatama Metro that consist of 30 students. The research instruments in this research are observation, interview sheets, and test. The result of the data analysis in this research are pre-test until post-test 2 that the average of pre-test was 60.93. Then, the implementation of think-aloud strategy in teaching, there is an increase of 3.65 become 64.58. Then, in the cycle 2 the average of students’ score is 80.17. Based on the teaching and learning activities, pre-test until post-test 2 are increased. From the cycle 2, It is about 80 % of the students can achieve the minimum passing criteria (KKM), so this research is success. The conclusion is the implementation of think-aloud strategy can improve students' reading comprehension
The Influence Of Using Inside – Outside Circle (Ioc) Technique Toward Students’ Speaking Ability At The Second Year Of Ma Negeri 1 East Lampung
One of the objectives in foreign language teaching in Indonesia is to improve speaking skill accurately and fluently. Speaking is one of difficult aspect for students to master. This is hardly surprising when one considers everything that is involved when speaking: ideas, what to say, language, how to use grammar and vocabulary pronunciation as well as listening to and reacting to the person you are communicating with. The purpose of this research is to know there is any positive and significant influence of using Inside Outside Circle (IOC) technique toward students’ speaking ability at the second year students of MA Negeri 1 East Lampung academic year 2016/2017. This research is quantitative research. Research design that is used in this research is quasi experimental design. Data collecting technique of this research consists of pretest, treatment and posttest. The researcher gives test to know how far the students ability in speaking. The score of the students get from pretest and posttest. Inside Outside Circle influence the students’ speaking ability. It is appropriate with the result of the students score. It was proved based on the result of ttest, where tcount was 15,89 were higher than ttable was 2.0 in significance level 5% and 2,66 in significance level 1%. It means that there is an influence of Inside Outside Circle technique toward students speaking ability in second year of MA Negeri 1 East Lampung
REFORMASI BIROKRASI
Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran reformasi birokrasi di Indonesia dalam hal Reposisi dan penerapan E-Government. Adapun Metode yang digunakan yaitu dalam kajian ini adalah library research dengan di dukung fenomena yang ada di Indonesia. Reformasi birokrasi di Indonesia yang dijalankan kondisinya masih belum sesuai harapan masyarakat yaitu tercipta pemerintah yang transfaran dan akuntabel seperti yang terjadi di negara maju. Hal ini karena pengaruh kultur masyarakat feodal yang telah di turunkan dari masyarakat zaman dahulu dan kolonial Belanda. Namun Indonesia meskipun potret reformasinya dalam birokrasi masih jauh dari harapan tapi sudah berusaha mengimplementasikan reformasi birokrasi dengan menggulirkan regulasi yaitu menjalankan reformasi birokrasi dalam mewujudkan birokrat yang akuntabel dengan menghadirkan sistem reposisi dan menerapkan E-Government dengan bantuan teknologi internet sebagai tuntutan zaman globalisasi. Agar birokrasi reformasi berjalan dengan baik maka pemerintah Indonesia hendaknya memiliki konsistensi dalam menggulirkan pembaharuan birokrasi pada tingkat pemerintah pusat dan daerah. Pemerintah daerah didorong untuk meningkatkan sumber daya manusia serta mendidikanya agar menjadi sumber daya yang berkualitas serta mereposisi aparat agar dapat menempatkankan orang yang sesuai pada tempat yang semestinya dengan mekanisme yang teratur sehingga terhindar dari praktek Kolusi, Korupsi dan Nepotisme. Disamping itu dapat memanfaatkan teknologi internet secara maksimal dalam rangka menciptakan pelayanan yang transparan dan akuntabel serta cepat sehingga masyarakat dapat terhubung dengan pemerintah dan mendapatkan pelayanan yang memuaskan.

THE COMPARATIVE STUDY OF USING NUMBER HEAD TOGETHER (NHT) AND COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION (CIRC) TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING ABILITY
Reading is one of the four language skills that has important role for the students. Every students must have good achievement in reading. That is the reason why the reading ability should be built as early as possible. The research was proposed to know the distinction between students reading ability instructed by NHT and CIRC at the ninth grade of SMPN 1 Melinting to know which one more effective between NHT and CIRC. This design is quantitative research and the researcher give pre-test and post-test to the students. The researcher used cluster random sampling with the population of the students about 117 students. From the four classes in ninth grade, the researcher took two classes as the samples. The samples are 9.1 as Experimental class and 9.2 as the control class. Based on the result of research, there is distinction between NHT and CIRC. And the last result show that NHT is more effective than CIRC toward  reading ability in report Text in SMP N 1 Melinting
Improving students' writing achievement of recount text through weekly journal
This research aimed to investigate whether or not there is an improvement in students’ writing achievement of recount text because of the implementation of weekly journal. This research was quantitative research with pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was tenth grade students of SMK SWADHIPA 2 NATAR in academic year 2021/2022 with 33 students of X TKJ 1 as the sample. The instrument used in this research was written test and used pre-test and post-test to collect the data. The data were analyzed by using Paired sample t-test showed the significant value which is .000 and the standard of hypothesis testing is α≤0.05. The data analysis confirmed that there is an improvement in students’ writing achievement because of the implementation of weekly journal since α≤0.05 (α=0.05).
